Flexible Transcription Service Integration

Premiere Pro currently uses a built-in transcription system with limited flexibility. There is no option to connect or authenticate with external transcription services.

This limits users who prefer or require different transcription models for accuracy, language support, or workflow integration.

Requested improvement:

  • Ability to connect to external transcription services (e.g., via login or API key)
  • Option to choose which transcription service or model to use per project or sequence

Allowing users to select their preferred transcription service would improve accuracy, flexibility, and adaptability across different types of content.

This is not to say there shouldn’t be the default transcription service that already exists, just other options might be nice. Thanks!

    @Tom Shiny ,

    See this announcement, the method Adobe picked to make this possible:

    I’ve tried that and it works decently. It still seems like there could be a lot of streamlining though.

    The interface for transcripts is actually pretty great and does a lot of things well. I’m not really thinking about that changing, but the BTS part where it somehow accesses one language model - make it an option somewhere to link to other models - almost like how you can pick between languages.

    • English (default)
    • English (otter - after login)
    • English (whisper - after login)
    • English (descript - after login)

    FWIW, I don’t mind it taking a little longer, and I don’t think that Adobe should have to themselves do a perfect job with transcripts, they’re creating editing software, not transcription software - so partnering with some of the other services would let them continue to focus on their strengths of editing without being bogged down on the language models.

    Just an idea.
