force you to set scratch disks when creating a new project

So this may be necessary because of my workflow.  I keep my project files in a folder on a drive permanently connected to main work computer.  This folder is automatically mirrored on dropbox.   But I keep all my scratch disks on my external media drive.  I have easily 50 drives so when I create a new project I want to set my scratch disks on the specific media drive...  And I sometimes take the media drive with me to work at a clients on my laptop or on their computer if it's available.  So having scratch disks assigned to the media drive is crucial.  Not a big deal, but would be great if there was the option on the new project interface to set your scratch disks...  In the heat of battle, anxious to get started, I sometimes forget to reset the scratch disks and they by default get set to the Premiere Project folder...    And it seems to me, setting scratch disk locations is an essential part of creating a new project...

Be interesting to see what others feel about this.   Everybody has their own way of working and adapts to the programs interface...

If you're in uncertain internet connections, yea, carrying drives is needed. I'm going to be running off a phone internet linkage during NAB in April. That won't handle a LucidLink online process either.

Not really.  Shlepping a media drive around or working on clones of the media drive in different locations may be a niche...  but it's my niche...

I work in a central Production.

Each type of work has its own folder tree. For each different project, there's a subfolder for that client/type of work.

In that subfolder will be media folder/project, sequence folder/project.

That help?

Neil, can you describe your workflow?  Are you working with multiple jobs with individual media drives for each job?  Do you take a drive and visit clients?    Obviously if you're just working from one place...

This wouldn't be something that most users would need, but there are certain professional situations like yours where this would be amazingly helpful. It would be a great option.

Maybe they could add a scratch disk option to the options in the upper right ... your standard "default", and a couple others like to specific drives you might set.
