I find the shortcut for Razor C too naggy. Temporary ALT Key is way better as in Cubase.

In other softwares like Cubase pressing down the ALT key invokes the razor tool. It do all my cuts holding down the ALT Key. It returns back to Selection tool V when the ALT key is released. This is so handy.

In premiere I need to remember to come back to the selection tool every time press C. This interferes a lot when you are editing text. By mistakes the entire content gets replaced by the letter C or V. I use a lot of subtitling or text using essential graphics.

Any thoughts?

"X" is easier to access and it's near the alt key, so instead of using the razor with mouse cursor and button, you will be moving the current time indicator and press "x" without changing tools.

Anyway, having the option to use this kind of "Sticky keys" as you suggested is a good idea: upvoted.

Thanks for your resonse. However what is the difference between your method and Control K we already have. Control, Shift and ALt are auto toggling keys. They have two states while pressing and while released. I was saying while pressed it becomes cut and while release the key becomes selection again. So two functions in one key.

I mapped the "Add Edit" command to "x", and I use that to add cuts in my timeline. This way no need to switch tools...

Regarding text editing, you need to press "esc" to exit editing mode before using the "x" as a command.
