I think it's a flaw that "Automate to Sequence" overwrites clips by default.

I can't think of scenarios where editors would want their existing clips to be overwritten by clips with unknown durations. I think Automate to Sequence should - by default - find the first empty track, or create one!

Layering voice over on videos is one of the major uses of Premiere, right? Automate to Sequence would have been more useful if the new assets would just stack under all the existing audio clips! - just like how Titles and captions do it. They get in on the work area without disturbing existing clips.

Right now, it is a fiddly process of either locking the track that you don't want to disturb, or selecting where it should go. Doesn't feel very 2024 to me. When it can just automatically go to a track that is clear!
