lock workspace

I’d like to request a Lock Workspace option in Premiere Pro.

Once I’ve set up my panels exactly how I want them, I’d like to lock the layout so nothing can move, resize, dock, undock, or close until I turn the lock off myself. Right now it’s too easy to drag a panel by accident while editing, especially on a smaller screen or when Premiere is lagging, and then I have to stop and reset or rebuild my workspace.

How it could work:

  • A toggle under Window > Workspaces > Lock Workspace
  • A padlock icon in the workspace bar so it’s easy to see whether the layout is locked
  • An optional keyboard shortcut to lock/unlock quickly
  • While locked, panels can still be used normally (scrolling, editing, playback), but they can’t be dragged, resized, docked, or closed
  • The lock stays on when switching workspaces or reopening Premiere, until I choose to unlock it

Why it matters:

  • Prevents accidental layout changes in the middle of an edit
  • Saves time spent resetting or re-saving workspaces
  • Helps on laptops and single-monitor setups where space is tight
  • Useful in training and team environments where everyone should work from the same, consistent layout

If you’d want this too, please upvote!

Upvoted. I don’t know what is involved in making this change, but many users have reported issues with workspaces staying the way they want them.

Sorry I did not get back to your earlier post on this, but I thought your screenshot (showing your extensive use of custom panels) helpful.
