Make a shortcut to toggle Export and Edit modes

While there is a shortcut to Export, there is currently no consistent way that I know of to exit the Export mode. Hitting ESC works sometimes, but if you make settings adjustments or click outside of the window, hitting ESC to exit stops working.

As far as I can tell there is no shortcut to switch back to "Edit" mode. I would like to be able to hit a keyboard shortcut to exit Export mode without having to use my mouse to click "Edit". I feel like there should be a way to assign the modes to a shortcut.
