I don't think this needs a description, it doesn't make sense to move everything forward or backward without moving the markers.

Better yet allow the option to create markers that remain fixed and a different type of marker that moves upon selection/ track selection tool

I agree with the other comments. This is crazy that it isn’t even built in which is a rudimentary thing. It is in vegas which I came from - if you just place markers on clips then what if the marker extends over multiple clips.

I’m first working out where I want to add in creative clips from explanations and I don’t want to have to keep changing the marker positions as I move clips back and forth on the timeline. The timeline markers ought to just stay associated to the position of the clips.

Is there any plans to resolve this? or has it been resolved?

Yes please, this is a desperately needed feature.   Many editors, like me, use the method "open a gap in the timeline to work on a section, then close that gap when it's done".   Track Select everything - push it all to the right while you figure this bit out.   Without the markers moving, this makes the markers completely redundant.   That said, it should be a toggle switch item - 'Ripple markers/Don't ripple markers', because sometimes that's OK.

Yes please! I can't really use the tool at all because I use markers so heavily.

For those who need a workaround, if you're just trying to insert a clip in the middle of a sequence, using "Paste Insert" (Or Ctrl + Click dragging the clip I believe) will shift the clips and markers.

Downright ridiculous... It's like the people working on the software aren't actually editors themselves. This oversight is so basic, it makes me wanna cry!
What possible function is served by not having the choice to EITHER tie the marker to the timeline OR to the clip?!?!? OY!
Get it together Adobe for heaven's sake one of the people in this string says they been waiting for "years" for this functionality. I refuse to call this a feature because this is SO basic, I can ONLY call it a function (one that is sadly missing).

I've been wanting this ability for many years.

Would LOVE this feature to be implemented.   Without it, it makes track markers essentially worthless, as when you need to open a gap to insert something, every marker to the right is now in the wrong place.  I know ripple edit does move them, but that's usually the most annoying way to do anything in the middle of a complex timeline.

Yes! When I get in the flow sometimes I forget that I marked segments of the sequence and using any kind of forward/backward selection or rolling edit will render those markers redundant.
