Multi-Clip Relative Trim and Extension Based on Available Source Media

I would like to request an improvement to Premiere Pro’s multi-clip trimming functionality.

Currently, when multiple clips have additional source media beyond their Out points, Premiere Pro does not allow users to select them and extend all their Out points simultaneously. Each edit point must be adjusted individually, which becomes extremely time-consuming when working with many clips.

This functionality already exists in most DAWs for editing multiple audio events. The proposed behavior is straightforward:

1. Select multiple clips or their Out points.

2. Drag one selected Out point to extend all selected clips by the same relative amount.

3. Use the clip with the least remaining source media as the limiting clip.

4. Stop the group extension when that clip reaches the end of its available source media.

5. Allow the editor to manually close any remaining gaps afterward.

This would preserve the relative duration change across all selected clips while preventing any clip from extending beyond its available source media.

A “Fill Gaps by Extending Previous Clips” command would also be useful. It could automatically extend each selected clip’s Out point to the beginning of the next clip, wherever sufficient source media is available.

This feature would significantly improve workflows involving dialogue, music, multicamera recordings, and any timeline containing multiple trimmed clips separated by gaps.
