Music Stem Mixing & Remixing features – Enhanced Audio Control

I’m a big fan of Premiere Pro’s Remix feature—it’s a powerful tool for adapting music to fit video timelines. I’d love to see this functionality evolve to support music stems, enabling more granular and creative control over audio.

1. Remix with Stems Instead of Full Tracks

The next step in my audio workflow would be the ability to remix individual stems (e.g., drums, bass, vocals) as if they were one song. This would allow editors to tailor the music more precisely to the mood and pacing of their content.

2. Nested Stem Groups for Simplicity

To keep the timeline clean, stems could be collapsed into a single nested clip by default. Editors could expand the group only when needed to adjust individual stem volumes or apply effects. This would reduce visual clutter while maintaining flexibility.

Another way to solve it would be to have one nested clip but give the stems seperate faders.

3. Essential Sound Integration: Dynamic Energy Control

Integrating stems with Essential Sound features could allow dynamic control over the energy of a scene. For example, reducing the loudness of high-frequency stems could soften the mood, while boosting rhythmic elements could increase intensity. It would be amazing if I could design a crescendo for the intro (think of YouTube tutorials) and then start the main part calmly.

4. Stem Re-Pitching and Time-Stretching

Inspired by tools like Loopmasters’ Loopcloud, it would be amazing to re-pitch and time-stretch stems to match other audio elements. This would open up creative possibilities for blending different songs, removing repetitive sections, and making music evolve organically within a scene.
