mute source audio button

A simple audio mute button on the source monitor.

It's REALLY time consuming to have to turn the volume down every time I want to scan source footage with audio. If you forget, it blares noise at you and you clients. Ever shoot in a factory or loud crowd or sporting event?

There is no mute button in the Source Panel, but the Audio Clip Mixer does have a mute button, and a volume control that works in conjunction with the Source Panel.

Shift+S does do the trick while you are scrubbing, but this seems so easy to just add a 'Mute Source' button, Adobe. A very common issue that we all share should be something taken care of in much shorter order than 3 years..

It's been 2 years and Adobe still doesn't understand the basic things to make users happy.
Davinci Resolve has its own mute button for muting source preview and it is not an exclusive editing software like Premiere Pro. I am not even saying that Resolve has a free edition. Shame on you Adobe...

This would be amazingly helpful when I must pick out B-roll and music at the same time. Such a simple thing too. Get on this Adobe.

"Shift S" turns on & off Audio scrubbing. That will mute it in the source window and the timeline.

My workaround:
You can select items in a bin, and hit the shortcut for "audio gain" (G by default)
Choose a lower volume, hit ENTER, and ta daaaaa!!! The change will affect all the selected items. Much quieter. You'll still probably have to change the gain once you put it in your project, anyway. So this doesn't waste time later.

You can also apply effects, master clip effects, and use the "modify clip" dialogue box for multiple selected items in a bin.

YEAH, JUST DROPPED SOME KNOWLEDGE ON YOU!!
If you want more, search for "4 hour premiere tutorial." You'll learn some good stuff.

+1, this is such a basic Quality Of Life issue that could be solved with a simple mute button on the source monitor.
