Need Precise Control In Lumetri / Effects Panel

Hopefully I am missing something simple.

I need precise control of Lumetri points on curves and cursor-indicator position in color wheels. The mouse is not going to cut it, no matter how big I scale the interface. The Premiere GUI for effects is just not granular enough.

Is there a way to nudge these points via the keyboard? What settings?

Is there a way to do direct numeric entry?

Can either or both be done in the traditional effects parameters panel or the Lumetri workspace?

Other platforms have this same issue with GUI precision but they do give you the ability to nudge or enter parameters numerically while in color correction modes.

Thanks.

Many of the Lumetri tools are rather ... diffuse ... in their effects. So to actually work the Shadows, you may need to also work the Highlights control in the opposite direction to constrain the changes made by the Basic tool more to the shadows.

This is actually similar to say using the color wheels, in any grading app. If you want the shadows bluer, you push the shadow wheels towards blue while at the same time moving the Mids ball a small amount in an opposite direction.

This is where control surfaces are so superior to a mouse ... you can work two or three tools against each other at the same time. It is both faster and far, far more granular in what you can accomplish.

I can do very fine work with the Curves panel, IF I have that panel way wide. I also have my Tangent Elements control panel set so I can turn the balls/rings to mouse emulation. The left mouse is high speed cursor movement, the right mouse is the tightest movement possible.

I do wish ... and push for! ... splines for those very useful curves panels. That would be so incredibly helpful in shading the effects of the curves things we do.

Everyone's mileage always varies ...

@Kevin-Monahan

Any update on getting more finite control of curves, wheels, and etc within Lumetri? And to get a numerical display as reference to where or what these points are?

Thanks Kevin.

This is more of a feature request, cam. I'll move it to the Ideas forum then.

Thanks,
Kevin

The only thing I can think of is ctrl-mouse drag, it slows the entry in property values. (Shift-drag moves them faster). It looks like in the Color wheels it already moves quite slowy by default and they only respond to shift-drag to move them faster. You can use Control surfaces with Premiere.

Thanks. Was hoping I was missing something. This is really not ideal. Quite a few popular platforms allow for nudging or numeric entry. Really hard to do precise work in curves without a control surface, otherwise. Adobe?
