Removing MKV Format support has a negative impact on the workflow of people that work with broadcasting software like OBS. Restore MKV support. Having native support for MKVs, even if they don't edit well without generating proxies, saves me a ton of time that I'd otherwise have to spend remuxing/transcoding files.

Add me to the list of people who need it.

I shouldn't have to go to an unvetted software company to cut down one of these files.

I use the .mkv format extensively. I probably won't renew my Premiere Pro subscription again until this is added back in.

Well as an individual yes please re-add this. I remember that time fondly being able to edit content straight through Premiere Pro. But I don't think that only indivduals have a active interest and investment in Adobe supporting this, But a lot of actual publishers, media outlets & new video production companys that are founded today will have as well. A lof of those target smaller streamers, create PR campaigns or happen to generate content, advertisement for the new generation of media such as live streaming platforms.

MKV is here to stay at least for a while especially with the feature-spec that is attractive for both amateurs, professionals a like. It be a mistake to not support MKV for the future of Adobe products. But that's just my take on this, OBS as a program won't go away either and they're one of the main reason why MKV has gained a lot of popularity recently.

Premiere Pro simply cannot be taken seriously in the archival world without support for the Matroska container.

"The most popular industry standard video editing software in the world"

... Not sure where that propaganda comes from but I think Avid & FCP and the newcomer DaVinci Resolve would dispute that claim

Just posting here to say I started my Premiere trial today, and boy am I glad I only went with the free trial. The most popular industry standard video editing software in the world thinks .mkv is a 'niche format'... wow, this is me speechless right now.

And I see this issue was raised 13 July 2019 and remains unresolved almost two years later. I'm going to go back to any of 100 alternative solutions to video editing that offer support for this massively used video format and don't bleed my wallet as badly as Adobe.

I had the great pleasure of providing Mr. Singh (Sr. Product Mgr for Premiere Pro) with details of my work flow. While my usage might not qualify for the inclusion of MKV support, Mr. Singh was very generous with his time. Perhaps he will be contacting others who are supporting this initiative. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Cheers

Nice to see that there is a response for the admin about it "being investigated" but we need a straight answer. Including MKV just seems like a no-brainer. If free encoding software can do it, but your software cannot, you will lose business. The business we have already given you may not continue in the future.
Will the answer to this "investigation" (It's not an accident or crime. Or, is it?) becoming forthwith? A yes or no as far as bringing back support for MKV is what everyone wants. Preferably a yes.
