[Now released] Restore MKV Format Support

Removing MKV Format support has a negative impact on the workflow of people that work with broadcasting software like OBS. Restore MKV support. Having native support for MKVs, even if they don't edit well without generating proxies, saves me a ton of time that I'd otherwise have to spend remuxing/transcoding files.

Most videos downloaded from the web are in matroska containers. I cannot understand why Adobe don't support this format.

+1 Just in case it helps anyone else ...

Use VLC to Convert to Profile - VIDEO for YouTube HD
Once the the file saves, rename it using a .mp4 extension.

This has worked for me. I do not change any of the other VLC convert settings, and I am admittedly not needing the highest specs. Native MKV support is needed.

It escapes me when you think that a company this big would drop support of a free and widely used container as .MKV. A lot of people i know has some project with this format file. As i do 😞 :(.

Please DO return MKV support. I believe editors want basic things, FAST, PERFORMANT, RELIABLE Software. And once in a while the wow feature.

Its usless to have the "best" AI features when you lose so much time transcoding videos. Such watied time and potential, to end up having to rely on free software.

MKV simply is not a niche format. I was shocked to learn that I couldn't edit my files in Premiere! What is my option now?

Please bring back MKV support. This is a container not a codec so no reason not to support it!
