Optimize MXF Peak File Generation

Optimize MXF peak file generation to look at only the audio portion of the file.

This is a bug / feature request.

Steps

1. Import MXF wrapped video file (ideally something big like 4444 prores or XAVC-I 4K)

2. Audio peak file generation occurs

3. Notice that the peak file generation is pretty slow compared to how long an audio only track should be

4. disk activity kept very high while Premiere Reads entire file, video, and audio to make an audio waveform.

Result: MXF Waveform generation takes a really, really long time on high resolution media, when Premiere should be loking at the audio of the MXF file.

Expected Result: When footage of similar file size and resolution is in a quicktime wrapper, peak file generation happens at a 3-4x pace.

Request:

Optimize MXF peak file generation.

If for some reason you have to delete your entire media cache, which happens often with troubleshooting performance, Premeire can take an entire day to read audio data from 6TB of media off of spinning disks and raids. It doesn't need to be this way.

Hi Adobe Team, I am writing to suggest a feature that would immensely help beginners, students, and self-taught editors worldwide. Currently, to open and explore Premiere Pro, an active subscription or an active trial is mandatory. Once the trial ends, the application cannot even be launched. This creates a huge barrier for enthusiasts who simply want to practice tool workflows, learn the layout, and follow editing tutorials without needing to export final projects. It would be amazing if Adobe introduced a "Practice/Free Mode" similar to other modern software. In this mode: Users can open Premiere Pro and access all standard timeline and cutting tools to practice. Final project export could be disabled or watermark-protected. This approach would allow learners to build familiarity with Premiere Pro, making them much more likely to subscribe to Creative Cloud once they are ready to take on professional, paid client work. It’s the downside of MXF. There is no solution. It’s because the audio is interleaved between video frames so many more requests are required.
