Option to Disable the Audio and Video Transition Handles

Can we please have the option to disable these grey squares on each end of the clip on our timeline (the transition handles). They are incredibly irritating. I used to be able to click and drag clips with no problem. Now it’s so frustrating to move clips without accidentally engaging with the transition handles to create transitions between clips (which I don’t want to do).

We need the option to disable these, please and thank you.

And also trying to extend an audio transition doesn’t work. It often makes me trim the clip before of after.

I totally agree with this. Those transition handles can get very annoying when working on a tight timeline with multiple small clips. For now, the only way is to zoom in really close to avoid clicking them by mistake, but having a dedicated "Disable" toggle in the preferences would be a massive time-saver for editors.

Does anyone from Adobe even read these threads?

Apparently you’re new around here? Yes, there’s quite a number of staffers that have/are replying on different threads. Just not this one.

And though you and I are annoyed at this, sadly, a ton of other users don’t care about it. Or they like it as is. Like a lot of usability parts of the UI.

Yea, frustrating as that is ...

i am baffled at how these are here to begin with and there is no way to turn them off? Does adobe even use their software?

I’ve been wanting to try something for a while, but my editing system is locked down so I can’t change anything. For the audio handles at least, go to:

    Program Files\Adobe\Premiere <date>\PNG

    And remove:

    SP_FadeIn_Md_N_D.png

I think this is the graphic the audio handles use, I’d be curious to see what happens if it’s removed. My concern is that the handles would still be there, just now invisible, but at least the annoying little pop-up squares would go away.

Yes please …. at least for video clips as the fade handles are much less useful for video and get in the way much more often.

For fox sake, please.  This is super annoying.  I am doing doc work where I’m dragging around tiny clips of interview.  I use only a handful of dissolves in the entire project.

Upvoted. In audio, handles make more sense - you’re constantly fading SFX up and down, so I’d want the option to keep that enabled. But in video, I rarely need to add transitions. It tends to get in the way of ripple trims, rolling edits, and selecting clips, which I’m doing constantly. Even on FX-heavy promos, I’m not repeatedly dropping in the same transition. I don’t mind it being available, but I think most editors would be better served with it turned off.
