Option to Disable the Audio and Video Transition Handles

Can we please have the option to disable these grey squares on each end of the clip on our timeline (the transition handles). They are incredibly irritating. I used to be able to click and drag clips with no problem. Now it’s so frustrating to move clips without accidentally engaging with the transition handles to create transitions between clips (which I don’t want to do).

We need the option to disable these, please and thank you.

And also trying to extend an audio transition doesn’t work. It often makes me trim the clip before of after.

    Hi Adobe Team,

I’m a professional editor working in Premiere Pro every day, and the new Transition Handles introduced in version 26 have significantly slowed down my workflow.

The feature itself isn’t the problem. The problem is that there is no option to disable it.

I frequently trim, move and delete clips, and I constantly grab the transition handles by mistake. Instead of speeding up editing, they interrupt it and reduce productivity.

Please add a simple toggle in Timeline Display Settings or Preferences so users can choose whether to show or hide the Transition Handles.

This would satisfy both users who like the feature and those who prefer the classic Premiere workflow.

As ThioJoe mentioned, this feature was implemented in the Beta…

I agree, please provide the option to turn the handles off.  It’s so frustrating.  I grab these so often it significatnly cuts into my productivity.   So much that I wish I could switch this current project to Davinici.

Looks like the option has been added in the Beta version of Premiere, not sure when it will be added to the main version.

Please, give us the option to disable those handles. I drag those by mistake all the time, incredibly annoying.

Necroing this thread to upvote but IDGAF, Adobe please add this as an option to disable or remove these from clips as it is incredibly annoying and unintuitive. The transition handles get in the way making it difficult to adjust time remapping too.

    Hey all!

I’m working on a music video and love the transition handles. But...they disappeared just now while I was working. I have no clue as to what happened and have restarted Premiere several times now.

So apparently it is possible to get rid of them, I may have accidentally hit a button and poff...gone. Now I just have to figure out how to get them back!

    @Rikard Ekberg

    Try increasing the track height.

Remove it, please! this is super annoying. It’s not even a dissolve, it’s just fade to black. I need that twice a year.

This isn’t correct as it can create a true cross dissolve. But still clunky and they get in the way so it’d be nice to be able to turn them off. At least for video.

I’ll be off to NAB next month, and ... again ... I’ll ask about this and a number of other things.

Being able to toggle this on/off would be so freaking handy.

I totally agree with this. Those transition handles can get very annoying when working on a tight timeline with multiple small clips. For now, the only way is to zoom in really close to avoid clicking them by mistake, but having a dedicated "Disable" toggle in the preferences would be a massive time-saver for editors.

Does anyone from Adobe even read these threads?

Apparently you’re new around here? Yes, there’s quite a number of staffers that have/are replying on different threads. Just not this one.

And though you and I are annoyed at this, sadly, a ton of other users don’t care about it. Or they like it as is. Like a lot of usability parts of the UI.

Yea, frustrating as that is ...
