Per-character text animation like tracking

I believe this is a long-standing bug but I'd love to see the ability to keyframe the text "tracking" field to allow text to slowly drift apart.  There are two current workarounds: 1 - do it in Ae and 2 - enter the key frames one frame at a time.  Both of which seem to be more time-consuming than it should be.

Thanks!

Mod note: Title changed.

Upvoted. There is an animation stopwatch for the whole Source Text. But many of the settings are binary (a paragraph is left-aligned or center-aligned). Even though tracking could be animated, it currently operates as if the keyframes are "hold" rather than animated.

Let us know if you try Kevin's mogrt possibility.

Dear @defaultb6lpgg16zpem,

I moved your feature request from the bugs forum to the ideas forum. I hope that's OK.

I appreciate the feature request you made. Great! I also want this feature, so I upvoted. As you noted, you can create a per-character animation for text in After Effects right now. Here's an idea: creating a .mogrt with a preset text tracking effect might be possible.

Third-party developers are also offering solutions. Have a look at Broadcast Gems, for example.

Regardless, I'd also love to have this effect for text working natively in Premiere Pro. I appreciate you doing that.

Thanks,
Kevin
