Playhead should jump to undo points AND Undo should only undo sequence events

Let's say I remove a clip from the beginning of my sequence, then I scroll all the way to the end of my sequence so that I can no longer see the beginning of it. If I hit undo, the playhead SHOULD jump back to the top of the sequence. But it doesn't, it stays where it is. This is terrible because it's very easy to undo something and not even know it. Also, if you're undoing something, it stands to reason you want to go back to that point. So the playhead should follow undo. Just like it does in Avid. And don't get me wrong, I am a Premiere convert, but Undo is something Avid does better.

The other thing is Undo should only undo sequence events. It should never undo things like copying a sequence or renaming something. There are a million times where I'm working on a show, I do a bunch of edits and then I think "oh, maybe I should save a copy of this sequence from before I did all these things." You know, you don't always have forethought when you are editing. Sometimes you're in the zone and you have the thought too late. Well, in Avid, I can copy the sequence so that my new edits are saved, and then in the current sequence hit undo a bunch of times so that I now have a version from before I made the latest edits. I can then load up the copied version and continue making new edits, but I have that safe copy just in case.

But in Premiere, you can't do this because you'll undo making the copy of the sequence. No good.

I agree on both counts. You can't tell what you're undoing without having the History window open. Even then, Edit Parameter isn't all that helpful either but that's a different post.

My workaround for needing to make a copy of a sequence then perform a string of undos is to open the last backup, drag the sequence into current project (maybe it's close to "before I did all those things"), name it as a copy or backup or something else meaningful, then perform all those undos. Three extra steps and you might not have the exact sequence you wanted. Does anybody have any better workarounds?
