Premiere 25 Transition design flaw

Regarding Premiere Pro Version 25.3.0 on Mac Sequoia 15.5
When I apply a transition effect to clips in a sequence (ex. cross dissolve) and the clip is short enough that the transition covers the the clickable part of the clip, meaning the transition covers the duration of the clip, there is nowhere to click on the clip instead of clicking on the transition, so you have to adjust the transition just to select the clip and then move the transition back--and if you have warp stabilizer or other ai-based effect applied, it then has to re-analyze.
In previous versions, the transition appeared smaller within the clickable part of the clip, like a ribbon in the middle, so you could select the effect or the clip without having to move things out of the way. I don’t understand what advantage there is to this new design. The size of both the clip and the transition were fine and the only reason I could see changing it to it’s current dysfunctional version is for purely aesthetic reasons. It would be nice if the Premiere Pro 23 interface was offered as an option in future updates or for the actual 23 version to be compatible with dynamic link across versions.
