Premiere Pro CC: can blue text interface be changed back to yellow?

Just wondering if there's an option in preferences to change the color of the interface text. It used to be yellow and now it's more difficult to see.

I notice the blue text across the entire range of updated programs: AE, PP, Photoshop, etc.

So is it a setting in the cloud itself that would allow me to change the color back to yellow?

If not, not big issue, I'll just have to get used to it. Love the new interface in any case. Much more responsive with no issues.

Thank you, Adobe!

Yeah i updated mine because i had to...my SSD crashed.

I have to tell you the idea that i have no choice in a software i have purchased for $800 in the past and now $600 a year in CC.... stinks!

I have eye issues with blue light and have a hard time focusing on it ( eyes and mental focus ). Blue light scatters and why good sunglasses have some kind of blue filter to reduce this effect

I loved the yellow and it was great....why dont you ask your users?

I get some people like it and can get used to it....but i guess if we just have one political party we can all get used to it too...or one color shirts etc.

You are better than this Adobe!

Or at least give us a choice to make it whatever color we like.

One of the reasons i stay away from apple is they do this kind of stuff..they know what is best for us and we just have to get used to it.

Come on...give us what we had.

    I want the yellow back!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok i wrote to Adobe...not sure it will help but i think i am going to cancel CC 2014 and just put the old PP5.5 in there

    This really Sucks!!!

I find it humorous that the folks that can see the blue fine dont understand how blue can effect others both visually and mentally for concentration.

Yellow i can go to right away...blue...it seems to take me forever to focus.

Who the heck would make this kind of change without checking with their current customers instead of forcing it on us???

Just doesn't make sense to me :-(

Yep, I just let my CC subscription expire.  I'll be fine with my PRE-cc apps.  There is some cool stuff in there, but I can do 99% of what I did before in earlier version of AE, PP, PS, and ILLUS. and no headaches.   The price jumped up a LOT anyway!

I'll consider renewing once I hear this has been properly handled.

I have tried at least 20 times, maybe 30, to add my feature request on this issue, but always says captcha is incorrect. I'm sure this is just me not being able to read the captcha... like the blue text. Please accept this is my feature request.

    Hello Adobe,

The blue text and handles in the effects controls are nearly impossible to see. Please give users a few color options, or simply change it back to what was acceptable.

    Thanks!

The next release was "debuted" at NAB ... and two changes were made. First, the blue of the input-text can be adjusted much lighter & darker than the current "ish"; second, there is now a blue box around the selected input-data showing that it is selected and you can enter data ... and that also is adjustable lighter or darker. Coupled with the adjustability of the background grey, it is easier to get it usable. I do wish that some other color than blue was available, but ... it will be workable for most people.

And that captcha has GOT to be the nastiest one out there ... sometimes I've hit it on the fist try, and sometimes it's been 15 and gave up like you. Which would indicate I've spent the odd minute filing such things ...

Giving my 2c.... I don't like the new look. Geezz, cant they just leave well enough alone! Thanks for forcing me into changing what I've been looking at for the last few years.

I just echoed Stephen's feature request (and would encourage anyone who hasn't to please do so). The  blue text is a glaring flaw in what otherwise appears to be a good upgrade.

Although a customizable color change is at least a small can of worms, here's a thought: If Adobe has good programmers and code management (and i bet they do), a 'private' or optional change back to gold could be accomplished by one constant(variable) change and a re-compile. Any chance of that?

I think that there was a perfectly good explanation for the reason that won't be done already posted in this thread. Won't, not Can't.

    From post #174,

"I would imagine that the reality is that Adobe spent a pile of money hiring some wank to overhaul and Tron-ify the UIs of their product line; they can't very well backtrack on that just because their pesky customers are asking for a change."

Now, I might not have put it quite that way, but if Adobe paid a lot of money to their consultant, who may have been related to Dogbert for all I know considering the outcome, then they can't very well change their mind. Not so soon anyway. Think of it like New Coke. It took them a while to realize the mistake, didn't it?

That leaves Adobe, in my opinion, with the only option being the much more difficult task of making it customizable. They can't go back, and forward means a lot of work.

But that is just my guess and doesn't count for much.

Sorry everyone, I was hoping to be bringing GOOD news and created civil unrest. Usually the word "colors" means more than one color. My bad!

I'm not sure why this has to be added as a feature request again.

    HI Stephen,

I'm not sure why this has to be added as a feature request again.

Did you ask for "change it back to gold" or "make it any color you choose?" If you made one for "change it back" instead of "customize colors," (and that's what you want) you can make another feature request. The reason you file feature requests is to let the team know how strong the demand is for any feature.

If you wish complain about things, that's fine, however it's much better to give the team direct feedback.

    Thanks,

    Kevin,

We're all professionals here. We've given feedback. It was ignored. Now we are splitting hairs. I don't care if you put it back to gold or give me a color picker – what's the difference!?

I will gladly re-submit feedback... again.

Sweet biscuits and gravy, the answer is now YES!

user interface improvements, including customizability and panel tab redesign

In Preferences > Appearance there is a new Highlight Colors section in which you can adjust the appearance of interactive controls and focus indicators. This should help people who have had difficulty with the readability of the user interface following some color and contrast changes introduced last year.

"Wooop wooop! This calls for a celebration!"

I wouldn't get to excited ... I've been mostly following this in the AE thread, as I don't use Premiere too much, but AE all the time.  If the changes are anything like AE's -- which I would assume there are -- then there is no color change option, just brightness.  I know ... kick in the teeth.

Wondering about the status of this. It's a real issue. Especially if the playhead is over a keyframe.

If you can't do a color swatch (which I can see the problem implementing), a choice between the old one and the new one would really help.

Also, in what I'm calling "Adobe's War on Legibility," it seems your mask color cycles are way less pronounced. I have to change every one of them to contrast. The color value is all toward the middle of the color swatch. It needs to be pegged in both the saturation and brightness. You won't hit a perfect color every time, but your chances will increase.

I prefer the brighter background because otherwise I cant really see too well the track seperaters on the timeline, and this is what i end up with on effect cntrols. Try reading this mess 2 feet from the screen.

Kevin, any news yet on what Adobe intends to do to correct the illegible UI?

My subscription is up for renewal in a few days, and I'm loath to spend £27 a month on two applications that I am currently unable to use.

I cannot make advance announcements of planned features or changes to the UI, unfortunately. Just know it is one of the top issues I am advocating for.

The most egregious example - keyframe bezier curves - has been fixed in Premiere Pro CC 2014.2 (8.2). It is a small change, but evidence that the team is working on changes to improve visibility in the UI.

I am hopeful we'll see a great deal more improvements along these lines in the next version of Premiere Pro.

    Thanks,

    Kevin

    Yellow is better than blue.

I normally have my background brightness in afterfx turned to the darkest setting due to prolonged use. Even with this turned up (which does make the blue more visible), it is still a real step backward compared to the yellow.

Please Adobe, please change this. Or better still, allow users to configure the highlights in a custom manner, much like the background brightness of the UI.

It's good to know that nobody in the design team thought that there are users who suffer from various degrees of color blindness and, thanks to this update, are finding it even more difficult to use the interface than the other users.

And make sure to change everything, i've just noticed that the "include this property in the graph editor" button in after effects is affected as well. I'm completely unable to see if it changes color when clicked, quite difficult to navigate through all the properties to check which is used when multiple are included. And selected keyframes are almost indiscernible from unselected ones.

Should i just use the original AE CC?

    Very good job adobe.

Just change it as soon as possible, please, it was a very bad idea.

    Hi Ultharim,

Let the team know here: http://www.adobe.com/go/wish

The team responsible for the UI probably won't see your suggestions here.

    Thanks,

I like the new interface too, but the handles of a keyframe are really hard to see.

Also scrollbar positions are not allways easy to realize. I think, sitting 8+ hours a day in front of computerscreen is taxing enough for the eyes. A little more contrast would be fine!

The keyframe handles is a bug. As far as the scroll bars go, I'm not aware of that one. Can you file bug reports for both? http://www.adobe.com/go/wish
