Premiere "Set Project"

In the 3D World, there's this concept of "Set Project" or setting the project and I would love to see this feature added to Premiere!

At any given time we are working on 8-12 different projects that get split among our editors. We have shifted to using Productions for most of our work, so this has helped some, but I still would love to be able to click File/Set Project so that whichever project I am working on at the time links correctly to all of the media, assets, and shared cache paths.

This concept may seem unecessary for most people, but it's a nightmare for someone that has to pop into different projects located on different servers. We have moved a lot of projects, or even recently we changed where some of our assets live within our folder structure, and everytime I open a project I need to relink files.

If I cold open Premiere and previously I was in Production A, but I clicked on a file to open Production B, it will open Premiere, then open Production A, then attempt to bring Production B file into Production A.

"Set Project" Would fix this, and solve a few other problems that would be extremely beneficial.

When I go to archive a project, or clean it out, I find things from other productions (usually cache files and auto saves) that will pop in one production when they should be in another production,

Kind of similar, the locate offline media, is a pain when a project has been moved from one server to another. I do like that you only need to link one video file and all of the sibling video files will auto locate, but then I need to go into so many other folders to link one file so it can pick up the rest in that same folder.

Again, if there was a "Set Project" I'm just setting the local or relative path of the project, so it knows where all of my assets should be.

/ServerA/ProjectOne/VIDEO - if moved to

/ServerB/ProjectOne/VIDEO - then 'set project'

the only thing that has changed is which server the project lives on

Why do i need to go into every path to find/relocate my files, if all of my projects are structured pretty much the same, ASSETS, AUDIO, VIDEO, EXPORTS, etc....if those are all common...then it should be be easy to change the server location on all paths in the project

/ServerC/myContent/Project417/subProject8/ASSETS/MoGRTs/bugs/xy_ab_pointyThings_V04_jm_mt.mogrt

(Very real path with redacted names)

by setting the project path, this should eliminate having to do this for hundreds of 'offline' files within a project. then I might be left with one or two true files that cannot be found, or were linked to someones desktop instead of the server location.

I spent a couple hours the other day looking at numerous projects that I had to open, relink 300 files just to see if this was the correct project or not. (projects from years ago- we know what to look for in the timeline, but finding the correct project with the correct timeline is the key). Set Project would have changed this 4 hour task into maybe 30 minutes or less

I would love to see this in a future release.

Does anyone else think they could benefit from something like this?
