PRIN files and Mask data organization
Now that we have Object Masks in Premiere, along with the several versions old media intelligence and PRIN files, it’s time to talk about how this stuff is all organized. I’ve made a post about the PRIN files and posted on a lengthy thread about them elsewhere. But it seems the masks have the same problem. And that problem is that in professional workflows we duplicate our project files daily. As such, Premiere creates a new PRIN file with the new filename, and in the case of having mask data, it now creates a new Masks folder with that filename. So every day I’m going to end up with more data to delete?
The masks, the PRIN files, etc should all live in some sort of Adobe Premiere Pro Caches folder alongside your Video Previews, Auto-Save, Preview Files, and Video Previews so that we don’t end up with more and more and more floating elements in our nice clean project files folder.

So tomorrow when I duplicate this and make a v04, I’m going to open Premiere and it’s going to find the masks, and when it can’t find them it’s going to make another folder with them in it.
Why is Premiere tying Masks and media intelligence to a file that requires it to be the same name as the project file, a thing that is likely to change and iterate as we work?
