Replace Creative Cloud Synced files for Premiere Pro Project files

Next to adding monitor zoom to the middle mouse button, one of the most annoying things Adobe has ever done is the Discontinuation of Creative Cloud Synced files ( not holding shift when proportionally enlarging in Photoshop unlike literarally every other Adobe app is a close 3rd.) But unlike the others complaints, the Discontinuation of Creative Cloud Synced Files cost me $100 when a Premiere project file was deleted by acccident and I didn't have a backup and had to buy some disk file retrieval app to recover it. I knew it would happen. Trying to remember to copy my projects over to Dropbox was bound to fail eventually.

Is this really that expensive for you Adobe? Seriously. This is ridiculous. I can't think of anything anymore that doesn't have some kind of cloud backup service now. And when there are so many viable, cheaper and even free alternatives from the competition you decide to remove this feature? But if Cloud Sync is too hard for you at least give us the abililty to set our Project backup directory to a local snyc folder like Dropbox, OneDrive etc.  Thank you.

In a decade plus of use, of the Project (and Productions) panel of locations ... the auto-save one, once set, has been permanent until I change.

The app has on a couple of occasions started to put cache files on the C drive though I have all cache files set to go to the D drive. But deleting them it seemed to stop.

hmm. i'm not seeing that. I have to manually set my auto save in the project settings for each new project, unless i'm misunderstanding what you're saying.  The auto save settings under "Team Settings" in settings > Auto save don't seem to do anything.

The auto-save is a permanent setting.

The save-as/save-a-copy are not.

Interesting. Thanks. A global, permenant setting for the default auto-save location would be much appreciated.

Autosave location is set in the Project/Production settings dialogs.

Save-as and Save a Copy, you need to set each time.

Thanks for the follow up. I can only set a custom save location for Team Projects which doesn't seem to do anything. Is there some other way to do it?

Hi @S. Lloyd,

Thanks for the post. CC Sync removal is frustrating, I agree. I set my Auto Save preference to Dropbox and that seems to be a satisfactory replacement for the loss of sync. I can also save discrete copies locally, if desired using "Save A Copy." That has been working well for me in 2024. I hope the advice helps you.

Cheers,
Kevin
