'Replace Footage' always reverts back to same old folder/directory

I've had this issue for many versions of Premiere. Was hoping it would resolve in latest, running v24.3.0 (Build 29) on Windows 10 Pro, AMD Ryzen 9 5900x 12-Core.

The issue is EVERY time I choose to Replace Footage, it defaults to opening an old folder. Even after navigating to the correct folder, I will choose another file to replace and opens to that same old folder.

There's nothing in Project Settings that would allow me to assign a path for replacing footage, but you would think that it would default to the same location of the original file being replaced. I'm simply updating multiple versions of After Effects rendered files. (I know, I know... I could use Dynamic Link)

Any suggestions?

@benyonker You just saved me so much frustration thanks for posting this workaround!

Oh thank heavens! At least this gives some logic as to why it keeps opening up some "random" folder I haven't used in weeks. Premiere is trying to replace the footage from the same folder you last imported something. So import a file from the folder you want to use, and it now targets this one.
Thank you!

@benyonker great workaround. Thanks for sharing.
Hopefully this will move from Idea Board to reality.

Discovered a solution: "Replace Footage" always defaults back to the last folder you imported from. So, just import one file from your desired folder, and it will start going there instead. Yes, you'll have to do this every time you use a new folder, but at least it's a workaround. It was driving me nuts, too.

Please, developers, I beg you, deal with this. It's a big quality of life issue. Every single time I try to Replace Footage, I'm taken back to some random directory. This is crazy making. Please just send the dialog back to the folder where the original footage was found, like every other application in the universe. If that folder no longer exists, send the dialog to the root level of the file system.

PLEASE, I BEG YOU

Yea, that's annoying behavior. Mabye a mod will put this in the Ideas section, and we can upvote a change.
