User option to automatically return the playhead to the previous position, when pressing stop, so that the user can keep editing and adjusting a section of the video sequence. Thanks!

    I think you’re onto something.

Can you provide more details on how it might work differently than one of the following?

    • Using Play Around (Shift K) that goes to the time that playback started

    • Marking an In and pressing Shift I to go to the time that playback started

    • Placing Sequence Marker and pressing Command Shift M to go to the time that playback started

     • Copying the Playhead Position (also called Current Time) and then pasting it back to go to the time that playback started

    • Temporarily adding an edit and then pressing up arrow (more than once if needed) to go the time that playback started

The difference is that the mentioned workarounds are key commands, whereas the feature request is a user setting. Thanks!

    Right.

I’m trying to get at how this would actually work.

Maybe there could be preference setting that mirrors After Effects where when Esc is pressed during a Preview that the playhead returns to the time at which it started and pressing Spacebar or K stops at the current time.

If we go to Settings > Playback > Preroll and set that to “0” and Postroll to “60”, we’ll get the behavior that you’re looking for; however, it’s capped at 60 seconds.

Or maybe there could be an “Always play from” button and keyboard shortcut?
