Shy switch (similar to After Effects) for video layers in timeline

I'm currently working on finishing a feature with a lot of optics, repos, and in-NLE comps as part of our VFX workflow. The film features hundreds of VFX shots that all need to be tracked through the edit, into color, and then back into the edit where some additional conform work is being done.

Once we receive a color master that is one single flat file and then start to receive layered comp elements from color, we are working in the same edit timeline. It would be great to be able to SHY or HIDE video layers with a toggle, exactly the same as After Effects does (or... dare I say it... Avid does this).

Then you could create timeline view presets just like you currently can with layer heights that includes shy or hidden layers as part of the view. So I could have a shortcut key to switch on/off hidden layers while working on the conform part of the VFX workflow.

Simplified example here, you can see that I'm doing comp work ABOVE the color master:

Basically I want this and I don't want to have to edit in Avid to be able to do it:
