Source transcription offer no options

I had following problem when transcribing sources: There is no way to change the options for it (for me in that example the number of speakers). An such, there will be only one speaker using that way of transcribing the source clips.

Only one button that has no way to open the settings (sorry for the German UI):

Unfortunately there is no way to select that clips and trigger a transcription in the context menu from the timeline window as there only one transcription command is available “ignore transcript”:

In the project window/panel however, there is a command “transcribe again” and that one will show the transcription settings window where I can set “multiple speakers”:

Problem with that is, I have to search the clips in the list of files. Often I don’t want every clip to be transcribed for a reason as transcribing b-roll clips will just add clutter to the transcription panel.

Easy fix(es): Add the “transcribe again” option to the context menu in the timeline window or/and a way to have the transcription settings open in the transcript panel (gear icon next to the transcribe button maybe)

    @athletic_fact6385,

    I need to experiment with this further.

    An option, if you are going to use the “transcribe untranscribed” button in the timeline/program monitor view, is to set your preferences (Edit → Preferences → Media Analysis & Transcription) to automatic, only clips added to a sequence, and turn on “identify speakers”

    This will then identify speakers when you use the automatic option. HOWEVER, for your purpose, this will transcribe the clips you don’t want transcribed.

    The only way to do exactly what you want as a batch/group is to select the clips you want transcribed in the Project Panel and right clip and transcribe/retranscribe.

    You can double click a clip in the timeline, switch to the Text panel/transcript tab, and the 3 dot menu will give you the source clip transcribe option, which allows you to set speaker identify.

    Exactly, I don’t want auto transcribe (as well as all media analysis) activated as it only eats up a lot of performance and also offers less control if I have some clips where I want to have multiple speakers, some not and some not transcribed at all.

    Yeah, as I say, the program panel is the only way so far but it shouldn’t be. It makes no sense to have to search the clips that you’ve gathered in a timeline already (with a reason) again in the project panel.
    The project panel is usually the most raw and unsorted place for me.

    The last option is no batch process.

    At the moment, there is no easy way to do that, only workarounds that take way longer. That’s why I added that feature request… to be honest it’s strange to me why that retranscribe option isn’t available in the timeline in the first place (not in the context menu, nor in any of the other menus like the Clip menu… would make sense to have it there as it is a clip(s) related command).

    For now I use the retranscribe in the project panel, even if it takes longer to select the relevant clips there.
