Stereo track audio mixing

Is this overly convoluted.

I have a sequence with a stereo audio track in the timeline. Left track is clip mic, right is ambient. I want to mix this.

What I have done is.

Open the Audio track mixer. Toggle the track mixer effect pannel open, navigate through two drop down menus to apply channel mix effect, double click to open the effect - another mixer! Adjust left channel, tab to right channel control, adjust faders. So streamlined.

Seriously, is this the only way to do this? How about a pair of ganged faders in the main audio track mixer.

Am I missing something?

Yes thanks Mike.

I know that workflow too. It's not much help if the sequence is already editied.

The function to split a stereo track into two mono tracks in the timeline would also be very useful - like in MC.

You might want to split out the channels before adding them to timeline. Right click the clip in the project and choose Modify > Audio Channels. Then you can change the Number of Audio clips to 2. Set the Left channel for both left and right in Clip 1 and set the Right channel for both Left and right in clip 2. Now when you put your clips on the timeline you will have a Stereo clip (technically dual track mono) for each of your mic and ambient tracks.
