Stereoscopic 3D plugin for Adobe Premiere and After Effects (not VR!)

At the moment there is no working third-party plugin that supports the production of S3D (Stereoscopic 3D, not VR!) in Adobe Premiere or After Effects. The plugin should be capable of editing/shifting/zooming in pixels of Full-SBS, Half-SBS 3D and upper-lower 3D formats. This is needed for stereo video footage such as from the QooCam Ego 3D, Apple Spatial Vision 3D side-by-side format and Acer Spatical Labs 3D camera.

I don't doubt there's a goodly number of people with the gear. It sounds interesting, personally.

But I relative terms, what percentage of those working daily in video editing apps work with stereo 3D media?

I'd be flabbergasted if it was 2%. I cannot find data indicating more. And 2% is still "niche", and would be, if a couple million people did it daily.

Do I hope Adobe gets this supported soon? Oh, sure! Always.

Is it possible they gave what seem (internally) to be valid business reasons not to have completed their efforts in this? Quite probably.

Personally I'm heavy into color management and manipulation. There's quite a few changes I've argued there for years, in person at NAB.

The devs always listen and discuss my ideas, agree they are solid, and probably a few thousand of Premiere's users would actually use my suggestions for changes a month.

But of the total user base, it's not enough to get those ideas higher up the to-do list. Yep, I get it. But I keep asking.

I hope your ship comes in faster than mine has!

Dear R Neil, Stereoscopic 3D is not a niche anymore. Why are actually camera manufactures like Acer, Black Magic and Kandao putting new stereoscopic 3D cameras on the market? Just for fun in 2025? I don't think so. Worldwide the 3D scene is quite large and it needs products who are capable to edit their stereoscopic video content. Many software products do so: Final Cut X, Avid, Da Vinci Resolve Studio, Vegas Pro, Nuke, Magic Video Deluxe, Power Director, Lightworks and many more. But the so called "professional software" Adobe Premiere CC doesn't do so.

There are so few (relatively speaking) doing any 3D at all, still, and even VR didn't take off like "we" all kind of expected it would.

So stereo 3D ... is an even smaller segment of users. Personally, I know quite a few people working around the world, and I don't know one actually working in stereo 3D. It's pretty rare.

And it has to be frustrating, when it is so poorly supported by software. Totally understanding of that!

Dear Kevin, thanks for keeping and eye on this. But afer more than half a year nothing has happened. Even Final Cut X has now two (built in and third-party) plugins for doing the S3D job. Do I have really to make the final switch to Da Vinci Resolve???
