Switch to OS file browser in stead of Premiere's file browser

In all Adobe Apps, we can find files by using the unified file brower provided by the OS (MacOS in my case).

But in Premiere we have to use a dedicated ui for importing files, which, for me, is much less effective than the brower I am used to. (E.g. in MacOS, I can type a letter and the selector jumps to the files starting with that letter)

Why not give the user the choice to use the OS filebrowser?

I have moved a file and in order to relink it, I am forced into Adobe's file browser interface. There is no option to use the standard Mac OS, which is FAR better and has shortcuts setup already. With the Adobe interface, I am forced to start at the root and navigate my way through layer and layer of file storage. Leave well-enough alone (which, in this case, is better) rather than force us into your inefficient re-inventions.

You can import using the macOS file browser directly in the Project panel. With the Project panel in focus, do one of the following:

  • Choose File > Import
  • Press Command + I
  • Double click in an empty portion of the Project panel area
