Timeline video/audio track divider

I dont need more real estate.. Just want it to be like avid basically, where audio and video tracks are treated as part of the same canvas.

That divider takes up so little room, it's certainly not responsible for the lack of real estate you're experiencing.  Removing it would help nothing, but would add visual confusion to the scene.

If you need more room for your sequence to see all the tracks, make the panel larger.  If you need a larger, higher res monitor to make that work, get one.

if anything, I know users wanted this divider to be bigger and more apparent!

I don't think that's possible. what you are left with is making the best of the space you have, see if any of this new to you or you have more suggestions:

1. scroll wheel to minimize the height of the track (add Ctrl for subtle movement)
2. ctrl key to scroll up or down when you are over the timeline (not over the tracks)
3. tilda key to maximize the timeline panel
4. shift + or shift - to minimize all audio+video tracks
5. shift as you hover over the tracks to minimize all audio or all video separately.
6. alt + or alt - to minimize or maximize audio tracks, Ctrl + or Ctrl - to do the same for video
7. drag the divider all the way up if you want to focus on audio
