Use Masks to direct Warp Stabilizer to focus on Certain areas
Idea: Have Warp Stabilizer take into account masks to allow you to direct it towards or away from features of your footage.
Warp Stabilizer works very well for some applications, and very poorly in others. Specifically when you have a small object in frame and parralaxx or motion going on around that object, warp stabilizer will try hard to stabilize the background, which makes some sense from a practical stanpoint as it is taking up more area, ie there are more features to track.
I'd like to propose a way to tell warp stabilizer to ignore features in some areas and focus on the features of another. With mask tracking in Premiere, it would seem that you could put a mask on an object and track it, then apply warp stabilizer telling it to only consider what is inside that mask when making it's calculations.
I have tried to do this manually with some success, but nesting my clip, adding a gaussian blur effect and masking the blur to blur out just the background. Then applying warp stabilizer on the nested clip. It's a bit of a cumbersome process, and it seems that warp stabilizer goes much more slowly on a nested clip the original footage.
I was wondering if you could an option called "feature mask" to the warp stabilizer and then just use the normal masking tools to allow you to tell warp stabilizer when to take into account.
Just a thought that would, in my mind make warp stabilizer even more valuable by allowing you to customize it a bit more.
