I can do almost anything my heart desires in Premier, but there's no echo button, and to create and echo i have to nest and copy and add a sequence and add ghost adjustment layers...just why !?!?!

Adobe. Please give us an echo feature.

Averdahl,

Thanks for following up. I think it's important to leave corrected info for future reference (for those facing the same questions).

I am not understanding what you are proposing here. Put a clip at the end of what? Silence it how?

I had a memory of that one could just place a silent/muted audio clip or a piece of let´s say Black video/Adjustment layer at the end of the audio clip with the delay effect, so that the CTI continues to play though it has reached the end of the audio clip.

I have now tested that and realize that i am dead wrong and am unsure if that even was a working workaround back in the day, or not.

It is however possible to do like i did on the screen dump here. Two keyframes that mute the clip and at that point the echo continues and don´t stop abruptly. But, this requires that the audio clip has more audio so it will be unuseful in many/most situations.

Averdahl,

"You can also put a audio clip at the end and just silent [sic] it."

If an effect is applied to a clip in the timeline, it affects that clip only, and audio from that clip (and added effects) stops when that clip ends.

...this means the effect cuts out at the end of the clip. To address this issue, you will need to either nest the clip in sequence with a longer duration and apply the effect to the nest, or apply the effect to a track instead of a clip.

You can also put a audio clip at the end and just silent it. By doing this the timeline will continue to play and the effect won´t cut out abruptly. Easier/more convinient than nesting IMHO.

That doesn’t answer my question and your reply is exactly why there should
just be an echo button, so I don’t have to go through all those steps. If
my dj mixer can do it with the click of the button, adobe can too!

Just drop any of the three Delay effects from the Effects panel to the audio clip on the timeline. No need for nesting and/or adjustement layers.

This is not necessarily true.

Note that audio effects applied to clips are limited to the clip duration. For effects with a duration (like delay and reverb) this means the effect cuts out at the end of the clip. To address this issue, you will need to either nest the clip in sequence with a longer duration and apply the effect to the nest, or apply the effect to a track instead of a clip.
