i have 2017 framemaker ,but my friend uses 2015 version ,he wants to open files which i created,i tried savinf my file in save as=> 2015.fm format also .but he unable to open.so i am looking for suggestions!thanksgood day

Using Framemaker 12 trying to open file and it crashes giving me a log.  I need to know if this file can be saved.

Hi Adobe Customer Care,I reported to you about the issue that tracked changes cannot be accepted properly. I made changes with FM Track Text Edits enabled. After accepting all changes, I found some parts I had deleted with change tracked were not deleted after all changes were accepted:Version with changes tracked:  Version with changes accepted:The deleted parts could be accepted properly only when I selected a small scope, for example, the paragraph. You asked me to upgrade my FM to the latest version. I did that but the problem persisted.You asked me to copy the content to a new file. I copied content with changes tracked to a new file where Track Text Edits was disabled. It seemed that the problem disappeared. The texts above showed a final version and looked ok in the new file.However, tracked changes jumped out of the version that looked final unexpectedly from time to time.Track Text Edits is very useful for showing updates and document reviews. Hello,I am working with DITA in FrameMaker 2017, I have a question concerning the use of a stepsection element in a task topic.I am trying to use the stepsection element nested in a steps-unordered element to introduce an unordered list. But the result is not what I expect to be.My structure view looks like this : taskbody     steps-unordered          stepsection               p          step          stepBut as a result, the paragraph is bulleted and is considered as the first element of the list. The same stepsection nested in a steps element works fine since I am able to add a simple paragraph above the steps to introduce the procedure. How do I prevent the chapter number of a file in my book from appearing in my running header? I can't figure out how to delete it from the master pages, and it seems like the Chapter Number variable isn't being used. What I really want is to be able to change the word "Chapter" to "Appendix" for just this one file in the book.

I have a 25 x 19.5" size document, and I'm attempting to scale down the width to 10" (to 10 x 19.5"), but every time I do, I receive the "Resulting columns would be too narrow" error below:I'm sure I need to adjust column layout settings, but I don't know what I need to do to get the desired result.  The document is two pages, with page 2 being the backside of page 1:Anyone know how to fix this?Thank you!

Hi Scripters, I want to offer some advice to those seeking scripting help. First of all, this forum isn't too busy, but there are some extremely helpful people on here. If you follow this advice, it will make it easier for willing people to help you.One of the most important things you can do when solving a scripting problem is to isolate the problem to the smallest possible unit. For example, if you are solving a problem with tables, don't post code that processes all of the tables in the document. Isolate the code so it just works on the selected table. Or, if you are trying to apply a condition format to paragraphs, don't post all of the code for processing all of the components in a book. Instead, isolate your code to work on a single, selected paragraph. When code is isolated to small units like this, it makes it easier to test and troubleshoot. Hi,I have a FrameMaker document that is displaying our company logo that is located on the master page, on one page only, 21, it has the text around it so it looks like it's been anchored. I've tried deleting it and re-adding it but it doesn't work.Any ideas anyone? Is this a known bug? I'm using FM version 10.Thank you.

The cross reference is displayed twice in Published Responsive HTML output. Even though the content is coming properly when you generate a PDF. When i Checked the attributes of the cross reference the ID is coming twice, however i am not able to remove the ID. When i remove one ID, save and close the document. I have a few questions about scaling a JPEG (or other raster file) in FrameMaker.One of the other technical writers at my company, who joined our company recently, thought that the sizes of our PDFs were pretty large. He thinks that this may have something to do with the size of the JPEGs in our FrameMaker files. When we started looking at JPEGs in FrameMaker files that I created last year, I became confused.Here's what I am seeing. Let’s suppose that I want to import a JPEG that is 5 x 2.5” at 300 ppi. I set the W x H x ppi in Photoshop and crop the JPEG.I create a 5 x 2.5” anchored frame in FrameMaker. Then I choose to import the JPEG by reference into FrameMaker.When FrameMaker imports the JPEG, a window appears to ask about scaling. I choose to scale the graphic at 300 dpi (I'm a little confused about why this isn't ppi, but that's perhaps a tangent).I assume that the JPEG should be 5 x 2.5” in the document. Posting this again as I marked the original as assumed ansered when in fact it is not.Hi, I wonder if anyone can help,I have a company logo on my master page that is displying randomly on just one body page. I can't edit it in the body page becuase obviously it is a master page item. Has anyone ever seen this or have any suggestions as to how to get around this? I've tried deleting it and the surrounding text but just the text gets deleted and the logo remains. I am using Framemaker version 10, structured. I have some documents in czech in FrameMaker 12. When I print to pdf the documents converts all right, but when using "save as pdf" all arial fonts are replaced with Times New Roman and the entire process seems to use a lot of time and computer memory. The Save as PDF always have been buggy, but some of my customers apparently seems to need this feature. How does one troubleshoot the strange behaviour of font replacement ?Best regardsBjørn

HiI am saving a FrameMaker file to PDF and want to search tables in the document for phrases/words that break onto two lines. The table text is set to not hyphenate because most of the command parameters contain hyphens, and I don't want to confuse the reader. However, I can only find the phrase when I search for the part of the phase that is on the first line.  In the attached example, I search for "user subscription charging ty" and find both instances.  If I search for "user subscription charging type", I only find the one instance - the phrase in the second column.  Acrobat seems to add a space when a word breaks onto a second line.I need to be able to search for a specific, complete phrase because many of the command parameters break onto two lines and it's a large document with many similar parameters.Does anyone know if I can correct this behaviour?  (I cross-posted this question to the Adobe troubleshooting forum).ThanksEmmaRunning FrameMaker 2015 version 13

I need to create accessible HTML output through FM 2017 since all our guides are already in FM so we cannot migrate to robohelp or any other HTML editor, because it may take too much time.There are few points that has to be considered while generating accessible output.Structure -  I see an error for the title element which says "Title" is not marked up as a heading but has Font Size (30.0px) significantly larger than that used on most of the page (17.2px). Check if this should be a heading (WCAG2 1.3.1). So how can we make it as heading by default?Language attribute - I can edit the HTML for this. But, if there is some method to implement it within the framemaker, it would be great.Table design - This is the major challenge for me where I need to create scope for each row and column header. When printing books in Framemaker 2017, I'd like to see the progress.Printing big books (many FM files) can be very time-consuming.I'd like to know which file FM is actually working on.But FM doesn't show the file (name) in progress. Or did I miss something?

Hello, all.I am using FM 2015 in a Windows 10 environment.I am creating a template that has three master pages:First: Contains one text frame ("Top") at the top of the page for document title and type variables, and one large text frame for body text ("Body"), which takes up the remainder of the page. I tagged "Top" as flow B, and did not autoconnect it. "Body" is flow A, and is autoconnected. The First master page looks like this:Left: Standard FrameMaker master page with untagged text frames for header and footer, and "Body" text frameRight: Identical to Left "Top" is intended to be self-contained. I want it to be obvious to any writer using the template for the first time, so they know where to put the title and doc type information.  I tagged it separately as B, and did not autoconnect it. In FrameMaker 12, how do you type greater than/less than/greater than or equal to/less than or equal to? For example, how would you type "less than or equal to 3" with symbols instead of words? Right now, my workaround is to create a new equation, pick what I want from the Relations group, and then drag the border of the equation box in until it covers the question mark on the left side of the equation.
