I'm trying to find the best solution, the easiest solution but i suspect i will have to make a new template form scratch.i want to resize (from 210*297 to 210*140mm)? martin

I have a license but the C: drive on my Windows 7 (Professional) PC was replaced. I still have the hard drive, but it's now Drive F: and I know I can't just copy the files from F:\Program Files\Adobe\FrameMaker6.0 to C:\Program Files.

The purpose of this note is to share some understanding that I recently acquired about the interaction of text frames and flows. In particular:1) Applying a master page to a body page does not affect the Room for Side Heads property of any flows on the body page.2) Importing document properties from one document to another sets Room for Side Heads in all body flows in the destination document with the same flow tag as the main flow in the source document. The property in those flows is set to the same value as in the main flow of the source document. For example, if the main flow in the source document is tagged B and the destination document has one flow tagged A and another tagged B, body flows tagged B in the destination will wind up with the same Room for Side Head setting as in the main flow of the source document. Flows tagged A on the body page and flows tagged B on master pages are not affected.3) The Text Frame page of the Text Frame Properties dialog has an area marked Flow.

In a FM2015 book file, the generated TOC show all subheadings in the previous chapter. How can this be corrected?

For some reason, figure numbering just stopped spanning chapters in my book. That is, the first figure in each chapter is labeled Figure 1. All chapters use same paragraph definitions for "Figure Caption," and that paragraph definition includes autonumbering. And when I generate an LOF file for the book, FM has no trouble finding them.This is a recent development because all the figures in the book used to be numbered correctly. I just can't figure out what changed.My figures are built this way: start with an anchored frame,  Import>File , then below the imported graphic frane itself, I insert a text frame and put the figure caption in it. I have never fiddled with any text flows in the book -- I just use whatever defaultes FM gave me As I said, this scheme used to work. Is there any way to explicitly tell FM to use continuous numbering? Cheers, JP

I use conditional tags to apply automatic updates to headers and footers using variables. The conditional tag is applied to a paragraph based on what the paragraph tag is. The condition displayed is dependent upon where it is located in the hierarchy. For instance, let's say the RED conditional tag is higher than the BLUE conditional tag, which is higher than GREEN conditional tag. I apply the RED conditional tag to the paragraph that has the Red paragraph tag applied. Could I use a script to search for the paragraph tags (e.g., Red, Blue, Green)  and apply the corresponding conditional tag? I would also want to ensure that no other conditional tags are applied to any of the text in each paragraph. Any and all help is appreciated. Hi All,In my Paragraph designer/catalog or Character designer/catalog, I do not see an Emphasis format (I do have <Default Font> & <Redline>).How can I add an Emphasis format??? So when I create a new Variable, I like to make variable as <Emphasis>XXX.    Thanks.

When I select a script from the FrameScript menu, a dialog box should appear where I can select a language to change the text inset flows in my document. This used to work on my machine, and it works on my colleague's machine, but the dialog box no longer pops up for me. But the box must be somewhere because if I press Enter, the script runs as if I selected the first option on the list.I was on FM 10 when the problem first occurred. I've since installed FM 2017, but there's no change. The box still doesn't pop up.Help? Thanks in advance. This has stumped both myself and our IT department.

Please, Oh Please!!!!!Why is there not the capacity to have a book-wide variables list? That is, why not have variables contained/defined in the Book file. When working with very large books comprised of many chapter files, having the variables list defined on a chapter file basis is a giant PITA! If I want to add or modify or remove a variable on a book-wide basis, I have to go through 20+ chapter files. It is SO VERY EASY to get chapter files in a book out of sync variable wise. Over the course of years, and half a dozen revisions, and multiple authors touching each chapter file, the variables lists become a freaking MESS! Old, residual junk in one file, not in another. Variable definitions changed in one file but not in another.There MUST be a way! (I can think of several - like have a variables list in each file, but if you are working with a book, create a composite/master list from each file in the book and attach it to the book file). How and when is the specified transformation file used?Transformations defined in code view can be associated with the default or a custom transformation file or with specific XML application. I'm testing the HTML5 output of Frame 2017 and it is messing up my table formats. The tables formatted fine in HTML5 output for both Frame 12 and 2015 and I did not have to change any table mapping styles in either version. Here's a nicely formatted sample table in HTML5 from 2015:And here's how it renders in 2017. Again, I did not change any table settings in the 2017 fm files nor in the table style mapping.The other strange thing, is that the 2017 tables render correctly if I publish individual files, but look like the one above when I publish the book.

Running FM2017. Copying and pasting between two documents. Switching between the two is becoming increasingly problematic as it is almost constantly crashing now. This happens regardless of what two documents are open.Additionally, a document pulled onto a separate screen look like this...It can only be minimized or maximized and can not be re-sized using the corner arrows.

I'm copy/pasting some blocks of text from .fm files into another environment for testing, and I've just realised that I'm ending up with more in the clipboard than I have on screen – because there is conditional text in the .fm source with the condition set to Hidden. Any easy way of preventing this? it would of course be easier for me if I could just paste what I see …

Hi all, first time posting here.I have some templates that we had made years ago that have stuck with us through several upgrades and we are now using in Framemaker 2017.  They still work fine for print and PDF outputs.  However, I would like to start publishing them to EPUB and HTML5.  I've been playing around with HTML5 so far and everything looks fine, except our "Bullet1" format comes across as an "n" instead of a bullet.I've sorted out that this is due to it being defined as a wingding font (n presumably) in the master template.  I'm just not clued in on either how to change it or what to change it to.Any advice would be appreciated.  I would rather not just start fresh with new templates as these do what we need them to do for the most part.Thanks,Mike

Is it possible to insert a reference/hyperlink in one FrameMaker document to a section in another FrameMaker document (e.g. Refer to section 2. in document "B") whereby if the section changes in the second in the second document, the reference/hyperlink will be updated in the first document?Thanks!

Hallo together,we use FrameMaker Version 11 for our cliche and create a ps-file for the manufacturer. We use the this printer:But now, if we try to import this ps-file in another program, we receive a error message, like thisor thisIf I created a ps-file (same printer) in another program (Macromedia FreeHand) i can import this file with no problems.So, i have no idea, what the problem is.Can anybody help me?Thanks a lotCorinna

hi,the numbering of the tiles in the book is correct but while genarating out of the book a table of content the numbering of the tiles fail.every title_1 has the number 1 title_2 and 3 work perfectly.in the templatetitle_1TOC has T:< =0>< =0>< >title_2TOC has T:.<n+>< =0>< >title_3TOC has T:.<n>.<n+>< >the TOC in the referecepage looks like followingwhat is wrong, what do i need to change?thanks and best regardsbeat

Now my team is outside the main office and it's time to get into a cloud-based storage system that everyone can access files from outside the corporate LAN. How do you repeat a figure title with multiple sheets in structured frame:  EX: Fig 1 (Sheet 1 of 3)I cannot find any information on how to do this in Framemaker.  I assume you create a internal ref for the title, but I have no idea how to do the sheets.

Hi,I was trying to run a script to extract all Paragraphs in a fm file with a specific tag name and I could see that I did not extract texts for many paragraphs.However when I saved the fm file as a mif file, and on running my script hereafter I was able to extract all paragraphs including paragraphs that were hidden.Please let me know why is there such a difference between running on a FM file and a MIF File.
