FrameMaker

Hello fellows,AFAIK, FM15 is not "aware" of the type of the graphic object that sits inside an anchored frame. Embedded graphics appears as OLE2. Is there a way to programmatically extract embedded Visio graphics from Framemaker files and leave all other types of graphics in place?Thank you for your responses in advance!

I am having trouble with my indentation, it suddenly has everything including headers and footers about 2.5 inches indented.

Dear all,if I open an xml containing a table in Framemaker 12 like <tabelle class="uebersicht" spalten="7" widths="6mm 4mm 4mm 4mm 5mm 54.5mm 14mm"><tbody><tr>..</tr>and switch from WYSIWYG to the XML Autor view the widths values are converted from mm to inch<tabelle spalten = "7" widths = "0.236in 0.157in 0.157in 0.157in 0.197in 2.146in 0.551in" class = "uebersicht"><tbody><tr>..</tr>We work with the German version and mm as default settingsI suppose - due to rouding errors - the dotted tabulator won't work any longer when I switch back to the WYSIWYG viewHowever if the document is saved in normal framemaker format and reopened everything works fine with respect to the tabulators. (The values are nonetheless saved in inch)Some ideas to explain/prevent this behaviour?Best RegardsWolfgang

I have FrameMaker 7.0 for Windows that I haven't used in a while. I'd like to upgrade it to version 7.2.  Is getting it from 7.0 to 7.2 a free upgrade?  I checked out the downloads page and it only has patches for version 7.1 and 7.2.  I don't use it that much and don't want to spend any money to go beyond version 7.x.  Version 7 does everything I need.  I know this is ancient history.

Hi all, From FrameMaker 13.02.433, I cannot produce PDF with embedded MP4 if the documents are imported by reference.Both the Save As PDF, and Print (to .ps, using the Adobe PDF print driver) options fail.Save As PDF hangs (whether or not it might process eventually, I kill the process after 15 minutes)Print (to .ps) yields the poster in the PDF, but no ability to activate the MP4.Stefan, is this a bug, or am I missing something?-Matt

Has anyone used the Update EDDs script provided with FrameMaker 2015 release?I stumbled across a paragraph in the Getting Started Guide, but could find no other mention of it.

Using FrameMaker 12.0.3.424Have a page with text content (formatted as a numbered list). In the Frame document, the last list item on this page is #6, with #7 appearing at the top of the next page. The PDF, however, has #7 on the bottom of that page and #8 at the top of the next one.While this may seem like a strange curiosity that doesn't really matter, I have a rotated Master Page in the same file that is not formatting properly because of this (the wrong page is being rotated).Anyone have any thoughts?Update: I just Saved As PDF with the screen on the pages in question: As soon as Distiller started to run, item #7 moved to the bottom of the previous page, then moved back after the PDF was created! Having item #7 start at the top of a page with a Page Break prevents it from moving. But why is this happening!?!?!?

Hi All...Trying to get my head around this feature, which looks awesome enough.  However, I publish to HTML5 and topics get cut off at the bottom - they don't scroll.  Am I missing something important?  Surely this can't be as designed!You can see the absence of a scroll bar...  There's much more to this topic, but there's no way to get to it.Thanks       cud

Hello,I'm producing a DITA bookmap and I'm trying to insert the ToC (table of contents). When I insert the element, FM asks me to refer to a specific file. How can I automatically generate the toc and if that's not supported, how can I go about adding a toc? My impression is that automatic generation should be possible since FM uses DITA-OT to compile outputs.Many thanks!

A [spectacularly dull] document about FM and accessed from the Adobe site says, correctlyToday’s customer wants to give real-time feedback on digital content, such as reporting errors in documentation and contributing new content. This requires new in-built mechanisms.Assuming that the adjective digital applies to on-line/.html as well as .pdf, I'm genuinely intrigued to know how I can deliver this level of interaction starting from FM source. Our first happy experiments with WebHelp have been very well received, but I see no sign there of any comment-harvesting or even just note-taking options.

Hi, all.Frame has done this for years, and I put up with it, but I am thoroughly tired of it. You know the long text balloons that helpfully tell you things you didn't ask, and cover the text you're working in (or the menu you're trying to pick from, and so on).I couldn't find anything about disabling them, in the archives. I am working on setting up a structured FM template for the first time. I'm trying to publish from FM 11 to SharePoint 2010+. How do I customize the output or change the settings so I keep the SharePoint ribbon and menus? I can't publish directly to SharePoint and IT does not support it, so I have to upload all the files manually.

We're running unstructured FM 10 on a VM, Windows 2008. This morning, while creating a PDF of a 700+ page book, we got an out-of-memory error and after that, we are unable to open any file in the book without crashing FM. Since we can't open the files, a MIF wash isn't possible. Our VM had 4096 MB of memory (most of which was consumed) when this happened. We increased it to 7168 MB, but it seems like some serious damage was done to the files. Of course, we have an upcoming product release (FrameMaker seems to be keenly aware of deadlines). Any ideas on how to recover these files? We can resort to a backup if all else fails.

Hi everyone...I am fairly new to structured framemaker and spent the last week reading every piece of information I could on the subject.I've been given the task here at work of taking some unstructured framemaker documents and structure them using MIL-STD 40051C as a guide.If someone could please give me some help on this....I don't even know where to begin. Hi,There is a change from FM11 to FM2015 with XML import regarding carriage returns. I was wondering if someone could explain it. I'm not sure if it is related to the other FM2015  whitespace discussions to date.Here is my XML file with zero whitespace (but carriage returns), opened with the default app and no validation: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?><test> <p>TEST</p> <p>TEST</p><p>TEST</p> </test> In FM11, it opens as I would expect:In FM2015, I get a paragraph with a single whitespace where the carriage return is:This doesn't happen when I use a structure app with normal validation.
