Licensed copy of Frame 2015. Had a trial of Acrobat DC installed which I let expire. Now Frame won't let me save to PDF (or print) because I get an error that my Acrobat license expired. Is there something I need to do (beyond just removing Acrobat DC) that will 'restore' the ability of Frame to generate PDF files?Travis
I searched for this topic as I'm sure it's been asked and answered before, but I found nothing.I have a document that contains large lists of numeric codes. The code lists can span for many pages (20+). In Word, the content just breaks at the margin at the bottom of a page and continues at the top of the next. However, Frame isn't doing that for me. It wants to continue the table cell (and the content in it) past my margin, past my footer, and apparently past the page into who knows where (see screenshot).I've played with everything I could think of for about 5 hours today and I'm at my limit. I just can't figure out how to break content in a single table cell across multiple pages. Attached is a screenshot of what it is doing. As you can see, the content (and table cell) are extended beyond the lower margin and even below my footer (the red line with the page number to the left).Any assistance is greatly appreciated.Thank you.
Hi all,Just wondering if anyone knows if there's a similar call to UpdateBook() for a doc? I'm looking to update the text insets within a document, but the FM documentation seems to be telling me this is only possible to do if the doc is stored in a book. Thanks,Carl
So... I have to upgrade to TCS2015 (to keep in synch with a client's version of Frame) from TCS4.I've made the purchase, downloaded the files, and am ready to install.But...I want to keep TCS4 available (e.g. Frame 11 and other TCS4 products)I have Creative Cloud installed (subscription)I want to avoid any issues that may be 'out there' 🙂Reason I'm asking is I remember back a couple versions ago, various components had to be installed/upgraded in a specific pattern to avoid problems. Also, Creative Cloud recently (5 months ago or so) pushed an update to Illustrator that was buggy (resulting in me having to reinstall earlier version (and I haven't updated the CC apps since then).So... is there anything I need to be aware of to make this a smooth upgrade?Any words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

I am looking for a way to create and install a custom thesaurus for FrameMaker 10. Has anyone done that?
What is the best way to update a book and its chapters from FM10 to FM12?
Hi,I have problem in saving S1000D data modules created by Adobe Framemaker to a CSDB created by using Teamcenter. Is FrameMaker compatible with Teamcenter. If it is not, is there any CSDB that FrameMaker is compatible with and working effectively.
I am creating a book similiar to my first book (I selected "Save Book As") using a PC. I am using Framemaker 2015. When I start editing the 2nd book, it changes the first book too and I do not know how to stop it from doing this. I have tried to change the header in the second book, but it changes the first book too. How do I fix this?
I ran into a problem with FrameMaker 12 and SharePoint 2013. I could connect and check something out, but then couldn't edit it or check it back in or every discard the checkout.I called support, and was flat told (in an email) that FM12 does not support SPt 2013.Well, I did my own research and discovered that 12.0.3 does support SPt 2013. I was never asked what version of FM12 I had (12.0.2). I said this and asked about updating, but then figured out how to do it and updated to 12.0.4. I said that I had already done this but still got a response on how to update, but with no comment about the problem. The good news is, the problem is resolved with the update. But I have had days of wasted time for something that should have been a no-brainer. E.g., "What version of FM12 are you running? Look at Help/About and tell me the number." Then "You need to update to the latest, which should resolve the issue."Seriously?!?
Hi.I have 3 different operating systems and 2 product versions. For simplicity, let's call them Windows, Linux and MacOS, and products A and B.Until recently, I was only bothered about the 3 operating systems, which worked fine. Show everything in on operating system and hide the rest. Now I have a couple of shared chapters and depending on whether they are in the manual for product A or product B, I want the appropriate information showing AND the operating system that the manual is for respecting.I currently have 5 condition tags (one for each operating system and one for each product version) but you can perhaps see why that is a problem. For the most part, the condition tags I'm using are the operating system ones - I only need the product ones for the shared chapters. For example, for a Windows manual for product A, I need: EVERYTHING for Windows and NOTHING for Mac or LinuxANDEVERYTHING for Product A and NOTHING for product B.I'm using FM 9 and am struggling... I'm finding it hard to
I use FM12 (unstructured) to make the documentation. My workflow is to work with modules. I make for each passage a module (fm.file) at the end I insert the modules to make the chapters (also fm.files). After that I create a book with the chapters. My question: We make a new template with new page looking, new paragraph formats, new tables, etc. So I also had to adapt also all modules with the new template. I have more than 1000 modules. Did you have a script to put all modules to a book – so I can inport the new template to all modules? Or do you have an other way how I can insert the new template to all my modules? Thanks for help. I have been struggling with poor image quality output for all of my graphics that are stored on my reference pages when publishing to html5 or other digital format. Here are the details:I have several high quality svg images that are stored in my reference pages for automatic placement above and below paragraphs. These images look great on screen and in pdf outputAll options have been set correctly in Publish output (Outputs->Optimization-Convert SVG to Raster Image not selected, Style Mapping->Image settings-Use distiller to generate image not selected, default format as is)I have tried changing preferred dimensions to 0 , 0 - no changeFramemaker is converting all of the svg files embedded in the reference pages to horrid quality jpeg imagesIf I copy and paste the images from the reference page to a body page, everything works fine (the output is a good quality svg) Text in the reference pages is also blurry and poor quality jpeg imagesIs there a way to get Framemaker to output sv
I am working on a round-trip program Framemaker <--> Microsoft word. This is for a specialized use to publish a High Epic fantasy (Epic of Ahiram to be precise). I've got most of the pieces figured out (and would gladly share if there is interest). In case you're wondering why I need to do that, well FM's typesetting is by far superior to word, especially when the end-product is a .pdf file. Also, I prefer writing in FM. My editors, on the other hand, love to edit in Word. Since they do not edit my writings only it's really hard for them to transition over to FM when most manuscripts are in word I know how to successfully turn an FM book into a single Microsoft word automatically.I know how to turn a Microsoft Word document into a series of .mif files. The last bit I need to figure out is an automated way of saving a group of .mif files into .fm files so that when FM opens the book, all the changes from the editing team have been applied to the FM docs.Is there an automation
My trial has just ended, but I need another week before my full license arrives. Can you extend my license?
Hello fellows,I've created an event extendscript that saves a Mif file as FM upon opening the Mif file (used Constants.FA_Note_PostOpenMIF as the notification trigger). For some reason, the script is sometimes triggered, and sometimes not. I tried removing the script and registering it again, but this does not change anything.I am currently using FM13. Any ideas why the script/FM behavior is inconsistent?Thank you in advance!
Error codes generated in log file when Framermake shuts down.Internal Error: 13014, 4420141, 4420202, 4420225FrameMaker 13.0.1 for IntelBuild: 13.0.1.385Any suggestions?
Hi all,I have a script that iterates through a book and saves each FM file it finds as an RTF file; however, it takes 10+ sec for the doc.Save() call to complete, which seems like a lot. Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem with saving to RTF? Any insight is greatly appreciated. The function:function saveAsRtf(doc){ var path = doc.Name; var saveParams = GetSaveDefaultParams(); var retParams = new PropVals(); var index; index = GetPropIndex(saveParams, Constants.FS_FileType); saveParams[index].propVal.ival = Constants.FV_SaveFmtFilter; index = GetPropIndex(saveParams, Constants.FS_SaveFileTypeHint); saveParams[index].propVal.sval = "0001ADBIRTF Microsoft RTF1.6"; path = path.replace(/\.[^\.]+$/, ".rtf"); doc.Save(path, saveParams, retParams);&
Every time I distil a book I made this morning, I carefully select Open PDF Document on page 1 … and every time I open the resulting .pdf, it's opening at page 3. Not the end of the world, but both puzzling and a nuisance. Any ideas on what's happening* and how to correct it?* I haven't scrutinised a .mf version of the .book file yet
Hello fellows,I wonder what is the best way to find the 5th book component from the end of the book (so the 1st book component to count is basically the last one). I can loop through all components and get a list of all of them. Then, I guess, I need to somehow put them into an array and find the 5th one from the bottom?Any ideas will be appreciated!
Hi,I've inherited documents that look as if conditional text settings have been imported and shared. I have a number of build expressions that are not relevant/needed and they are just causing confusion - but I can't see any way to delete them. Am I missing something?
Hi Fm users. We are trying to automate a bunch of activities which also includes adding hypertext (Go to URL) by taking a part of URL of the hypertext from the source word itself.. For example: xyz has to have a hyperlink which contains https://"Common code" xyz. We are looking for a method in FM scripting which can actually take the arguments dynamically. Is anybody aware of it? please let us know! Thanks
Hello. We have a book which has 530 files. This book is in FrameMaker10 format. Now we want to resave all files to FM12 format. We used FrameMaker Scripting to open all book components, open the document and save document and then close. The problem is that it only processes 176 files and then it crashes with message in console:Script Error : Error Message : Uncaught exception OpenScript, Line# : D:\Temp\FM_HierarchicalBooks.jsx, 73so it fail by calling Open function. Then we have tried to create simple FDK plugin to do the same work and it fails with same error. What can be a problem?
Hello, has anyone ever come across this problem? It doesn't matter what I try, Frame 11 saves my files always as .MIF files. There is no difference between 'save' and 'save as', I get only MIF files…Thanks in advance for any hintscarlos
It seems to me I have may have asked this before … but if that's so, I've forgotten the answer in the meantime.scenario: find/change in long document, where insertion point is on page 6result: FM diligently displays the page where the last change has been appliedrequirement: nip back to the page the insertion point was on when I ran the changeHints and tips welcome … and a persuasive answer may even be bookmarked :-}
