Lightroom Classic

After Synchronizing a LR catalog, LR should return the user to the same Session/Catalog. Currently LR deselects the active catalog and the user must re-navigate to the working catalog.   This will speed up the workflow. I usually have dozens of sessions, each with 3-5 sub-folders, within the catalog so scrolling through them to get back to the working session is a tedious time consuming process.Upvote if want LR to be more user friendly and faster to use.

After round-tripping from LR to Photoshop and back to LR, there is a warning icon in the top right of all the edited images in the LR folder. Sometime re-synchronizing the folder in LR makes the adds the edits in LR and the warning goes away - but 90% of the time that doesn't work.    Today l learned 2 workarounds:1, in LR, select all the images > click the warning > choose import the edits  - this does not always workWorkaround 22, in LR, select all the images > right click an image > click Metadata > click Read Metadata From FileWe need a reliable, stable and better way to synchronize the edits. I suggest that within the warning there is an option to read metadata edits made outside LR and apply to all images in the folder - AND HAVE IT WORK RELIABLY.

Hi there!In the awesome Lr Classic I often use the Auto Settings feature. Great starting point for further edits or one-click solution to get perfect result. But sometimes are the new settings simply too strong and I would like to  slide the settings back, lets say 60%.    Instead of pulling all the 10 top-most sliders half-way to the left (and of course I move them approximately, because multiplying all the 10 numbers by 0.6 would take ages), it would be great to have one General Slider to controll all the main sliders back to zero.   So if you set Exposure to +1, Contrast to +50 and Highlihgts to -10, the General Slider would be 100. By sliding General Slider to 50, you would set Exposure to +0.5, Contrast to +25 and Highlights to -5.   Or simply, like a virtual layer on the top, just one slider for everything (not just for Basic sliders): Blend with Original 0 — 100.

I have a photo collection, and i document it. No matter how much attention i pay to keeping things exact, they are always out a little. Could adobe create an alignment tool that only pays attention to the rectangle of the prints so that it creates a rectangle rather than a four-sided thing. Atm it adjusts for the subject of the print rather then the outside.    i doubt I'm the only one who this happens too... it's like correcting building but for prints. 

Cameras that directly create raw files in DNG format often write uncompressed data (DJI, Leica, probably others too). These files are quite big (12mp DJI file = ~25MB; 40mp Leica file = 85MB) and can be compressed very successfully with Lightroom Classic (lossless compression typically squeezes 30-50% out of the files).   On Import, even when selecting "Copy as DNG", Lightroom Classic does not compress the files though, and copies them in their uncompressed form. It would be great if Lightroom Classic would compress camera-DNG files automatically when "Copy as DNG" is selected as the import operation.   This would improve the workflow because the separate step to compress the freshly imported files would be removed. The compressed files would result in reduced backup times directly (especially continuous online backup), and lower storage space requirements.   Thanks!

It would be helpful to be able to mark unrecognized faces so they don't keep showing up in list of faces that have not been identified.

I have a new PC with an Intel i7 processor with a integrated UHD Graphics 770.  Intel provides a free downloadable "Intel Extreme Tuning Utility".  It has powerful tuning tools way beyond my capabilities.  It has an "App-Profile Pairing" tool that allows one to link a particular tuning profile to an app.  I'm not particularly in need of extra performance but I'd like to the boost the performance of the GPU if possible, to speed up "Super Resolution".  I don't want to have to buy a separate GPU card. It would be nice if Adobe could come up with an appropriate tuning profile that might give Intel users a very useful boost... for free.  I realise this is a tall order that would have to be tailored for every processor/RAM combination but there may be something simple that would work with most new systems at least.  

Stacking; Currently, Lightrooms Auto-Stacking by Capture Time stacks the files in chronological order.  I create stacks based on multiple edits and it would be nice to have an option to select the stacked file order.  example:  stack by newest to oldest, stack by file name.  I typically would prefer to see my most recent edited file on top of the stack.  This would allow me to view the most recently edited/best file when in the "collapse all stack" view.  Now I have to manually move the stacked file to make that happen and if/when I accidentally unstack an entire folder it is extremely time-consuming to go back and restack thousands of files in the preferred stack order.

I really love Lightroom Classic for so many of its strengths. It already has superior image organization to many applications with starring, keywording, and color labeling. But there is something missing -- a way to separate photos into groups in the library module.   Put simply, I want to be able to take a block of images and move it into a new row, like separating one paragraph into two. This could be as simple as adding a spacer button which, after the selected photo, moves all subsequent ones into the next row with a space between. Or it could be sophisticated, so that you can label entire groups with large headers, or create different configurations by dragging groups above, below, and next to each other. Maybe there could be multiple layers allowed too.   If something like this were to be added, my workflow would be immensely expedited as I often have trouble managing photos in a collection when I want them all in front of me, but in distinct subcategories. Would it be possible to add an "Exposure Selector Tool" picker that would be similar to the "White Balance Selector" tool?  It would be cool to have that to be able to quickly see how the image changes based on what it hovers over in the Navigator preview box.  Thank you!   LrC v. 11.4 Windows 10

I read the thread:   mobius trip, “Virtual Copy Not Visible in Collection,” Oct 25, 2018, (https://community.adobe.com/t5/lightroom-classic-discussions/virtual-copy-not-visible-in-collection/m-p/10194165#M128839).   I see that others are working differently than I am.   I wish Lightroom supported a workflow that allowed me to simply populate Collections with virtual copies. I do not want virtual copies in my original folder. I do not want non-virtual copies in a Collection. I want to set a Collection as the target folder and every time I hit “B” have a virtual copy created in the Collection. Additional virtual copies can link to the original or to a virtual copy, those are two different workflows.

Working on a project where there are 8000+ images of a project taken over 5 days of the same 140 people. So it is a good testing ground for face detection.   One thing that is noticable is that face detection is performed on a per image basis and does not seem to leverage the fact that several sequential images taken with say 5-10s are actually related - there is a "temporal" relationship between the images. The observations in 11.4 are 1) the face detected between each image can be quite different, 2) even when you label one of the images with the correct face, there is no process that is intelligently updating sequential images.    The consequence is that you end up having to label each successive image, which means the process can become inefficient. It would be great if customers could filter only to show selected images in their proofing collection.    I am referring to when you sync a collection with lightroom and then on lightroom.adobe.com you share the proofing link. As it stands right now a person with the link to the proofing collection can make selections in the collection but is limited to a gallery view with all images and can not filter to only show selected images so they can fine-tune the selections.     

When sending a file to an external editor, if the option to edit a new version is selected, Lr will create a new file which inherits most but not all of the original file's metadata. One thing that it doesn't inherit is collection membership if you are not explicitly working within the collection (say for example you are in the Recent Import view).  Images can be assigned to only one collection at import, but they can be added to multiple collections afterwards.  I would like to see a tickbox on the Edit in External ... dialogue box that toggles the inheriting of collection membership for new files created in this way.  My workflow is usually to import files and then to head to the Develop pane to start editing them. At this point I am in the Recent Imports view and, even though I specified a collection for the files, new copies will not inherit this information. This means that when I later select the collection, I cannot see the externally edited versions and I need to

When/will Adobe going to update Lightroom 6 to take advantage of the MacBook pro touch bar?  It has been a few months since Photoshop was updated...

This 'feature' is completely useless to me as there is already a profile strength slider on the right hand side (the side where all the other sliders go). This slider simply takes up space for me without providing any extra functionality that I use, and because it isn't hideable it means I cannot see as many of my presets at once without having to scroll. Either get rid of it, give me the option to hide it, or move it to the right side of the screen where every other slider goes.  

The new batch masking for AI selections (sky and subject) is a nice addition. However, I find that there still needs to be an option to set the mask once (i.e., select the sky) and then apply that exact mask selection (including any further mask refinements) to all other photos in the batch. For my timelapses where the camera doesn’t move, the same pixels make up the sky in each photo. Having the AI sky masking ability is very helpful for that initial photo edit, however the sky mask does not need to be recomputed for each photo. Use the AI mask once, refine it, make the mask edits, and paste it to all my other photos. When syncing AI masks, LR should ask: (1) do I want to recompute the AI masks for all photos (helpful for moving timelapses), or (2) do I want to just sync the current mask selection as is?

The help article Lightroom Classic GPU FAQ should mention Export in the introductory summary paragraph, since that's likely to be one of the most-noticed uses of the GPU.  The article has plenty of details down below, but when looking for an article to refer to a forum user, I almost moved on since I didn't see Export mention in the introduction:   "When configured (Preferences > Performance), Lightroom Classic can use a compatible graphics processor (also called a graphics card, video card, or GPU) to speed up tasks of displaying and adjusting images in the Develop module, the Library module's Grid view, Loupe view, and Filmstrip. Features like Select Subject, Select Sky, and Enhance Details are also accelerated by the GPU. Using a compatible GPU can provide significant speed improvements on high-resolution displays, such as 4K and 5K monitors."

I have my Mac display random images from my Pictures directory as a screen saver.  I find it a useful way to randomly review my images for ones that catch my eye for further edit.   However, the screen saver does not display the images with Lightroom edits applied.  They look very different from my final form.   It would be great if LR can provide a screen saver so that I can see images with edits applied.  Maybe with metadata too.

Hi,   I was hoping for an update that optimises Lr gui for the latest mbp (it seems Macbook Air will also need this).  At this moment, still after seven months of Mbp release and three or four updates, Lightroom is not optimised to use the screen space of the macbook pro. It reqires a workaround that produces smaller visible/usable gui or a notch is covering upper menu. At this moment, in practice, new 16.6" and 14" mps's that offer more screen realestate, still use the same space as the old 15" mbp's.   I would like to report this as a bug, since the mbp camera covers parts of the lr menu in fullscreen mode.     thank you,   m.e.                

Very often we need to reduce the presets' intensity on some images. There are quite "complicated" presets not just with the basic sliders settings, but with custom curves in each RGB channel. When you start changing them manually, you can easily destroy the overall look (especially, if you are an amateur). I mean, changing the contrast and exposure leads to some color shift, etc. What about adding a special slider for changing the intensity of all the settings at once?   I've found this 3rd party solution, but haven't tried it. http://www.capturemonkey.com/thefader/   ADOBE, can't you just buy this plugin and build in the LR?

Description: Selecting subject in the new Lightroom release is great...but no automatic tool is perfect. After creating a subject selection mask, I often Add or Subtract with a brush to clean it up (There is currently no "Refine edge" function, which would be awesome, by the way).  My problem is this--Now that I have the Subject selected, I duplicate the mask so I can select the background. But the Add/Remove brushes don't work properly and must be converted. Proposed improvement: Instead of duplicating the mask and going to each element to invert, convert to add, convert to subtract, I would like to see an option on the mask itself to "Flip" it. The Flip at the top level would invert the select subject mask, and convert the Add to Subtract, and convert the Subtract to Add. Then the mask would be a perfect inversion in one step.  You would have to consider how it would behave with the other mask elements--I was only considering the select subject/Add/Subtract.

This new feature permits the pictures selection in Smart Collection based on Event IPTC/xmp metadata. Event, like People, Location, Date, Copyright are very important information to manage picture. This helps to find back the picture of a wedding, an art-exhibition, anniversary,....   In the past, people used folders structure to do this. Later, they used keuwords. But now, with so many pictures, keywords lists are very, very long. So, we lost many time to find the right keyword. And computer can't understand keywords.   The Event information exists in IPTC extension but LRc don't use (yet ?) IPTC extension in the smart collection. So, uses it, please.   Today, metadata are very important because it's human/machine usable. So, as a photographer, user can exchange information between application (like LRc, Photoshop,..), user <-> media (like social media), user <--> Customer,....  

A tool to crop and rotate a collection of headshots so that eyes and lips are in the same place in the frame would expedite a workflow of mine.  Exporting those crops as virtual copies to a new collection would be helpful also.
