Media Server (read-only)

How do I actually know that the edge server is reading from its cache and not connecting to the origin server after I have enable caching in Vhost.xml? I have tried disconnecting the origin server from the edge server so that the client directly retrieve data from the edge server 's cache. However it doesn't seems to work. Please advice.

Hello,I have a problem, which I am trying to solve for many nights already without any success.Everytime I try to switch or change a server-side stream, it starts lagging after 2 seconds of playing and sound disappears.Here are scenarios that result in that terrible lag:1. I create server-side playlist with stream.play() with reset=false; when it is time to play the next movie in the playlist, it starts lagging after 2 seconds.2. The same problems appears when I just switch streams. I installed FMF Feature Explorer and tried to launch SwitchStreams sample application: the same problem - server stream starts lagging after I switch streams with stream.play().I tried on different servers (local and remote), with different players (debug player of FMS Admin Console, Standard Flash videoplayer component, OSMF player, Flex video player). I also tried all possible flv, f4v and mp4 file compression options for video files - still the same problem.I have also tried literally thousands of Applic

how do i reset netStream.time for a streaming .flv that was intiatied on the server side? It just keeps incrementing on me even after the streaming .flv is done playing.

I have been running a test server using Apache as the web server. The problem is I need to be able to run FMS on an IIS machine, and there is a conflict over each trying to binding to port 80. I have read that a solution to this problem is to have 2 IP addresses, having FMS bind to one and IIS bind to the other. This is not a requirement for Apache and FMS. Why is it a requirement for IIS and FMS?  This question my show my lack of knowledge of the difference between the 2. But, is it possible to configure IIS or FMS so that they share port 80 like FMS and Apache do? I guess can someone explain to me how Apache and FMS work together, and why IIS can’t?

So, I've got my videos set up on the server structure right.  I've got them referenced properly in the Flash playback component.But some of the videos on the server stream and some don't.  The ones that don't still show up as connections in the Administrator, though. Any thoughts as to what I'm missing?  Is there a settting somewhere that I've neglected?Thanks.

i purchased and installed FMS on my dedicated webserver from my hosting provider. I have all my sites on this server. now that ive done this what do i do next? I want to play VOD to site visitors. i tried copying and pasting code in my dreamweaver file but i get black box. I can play the live stream sample files on my dedicated server. I do not have flash player 10 on my hosting server. can anyone help. 

Hi,     In my system I have installed Flash Media Streaming Server and as you know Streaming Server doesn't abilty to authenticatte the user which connects with FMLE or another application to publish (or am I wrong, I hope I am wronggg ). Because of this reason my system is abused time to time for unlegal content . In my system we don't use live streaming ability for live events regulary. Sometimes we use live ability max 4 times in a month. And I want to learn that is there a way to stop or disable and open the live streaming mechanism whenever I want? I'm trying to get some xml on the serverside to parse. I can load the xml just fine so there is no problem there but i can't get the streamArray to populate  nor can i get any of the if statments after loaded to execute. I have a FMS 3 in on a linux server and I have a ViewCast Niagara Pro II encoder.  I can publish to the FMS 3 no problem but how to I limit who can publish to the server, because currently I can use the free Adobe Media Encoder to connect to the server and publish with no authorization which tells me anybody could do the same if they just input the rtmp url and feed name.thanks

Hello!I just bought a server to try FMS 3.5. First, I installed Ubuntu Server and then installed FMS (obviously). Everything is working perfect until I decided to run some php applications in this server.FMS created its own Apache2.2 folder under opt/adobe/fms, without PHP module.I installed php5 module but it did not create the module inside adobe's Apache2.2 folder.Everytime I run .php pages, apache runs them as HTML pages.I also tried to put this references in the Apache's httpd.conf file:LoadModule php5_module        modules/libphp5.soAddHandler php5-script phpBut libphp5.so is not present....Anybody knows?Thanks!!!

Hi,Is it possible to use multiple different VOD services on Flash Media Streaming Server? I'm currently using development server in our dev environment, but since that is similar to Flash Media Interactive Server, I couldn't confirm whether or not I can duplicate the VOD service as described in http://help.adobe.com/en_US/FlashMediaServer/3.5_Deving/WS5b3ccc516d4fbf351e63e3d11a0773cfae-7ff3.html on streaming server or does that apply only the interactive server?If not, is there another alternative to use separate services? Can I somehow use different media files on different instances of the same service for example?

I have a FMS application that contains a chat room.  I'm finding that my ondisconnect method is firing randomly when I still haven't disconnected.  I've gathered from various other forums that this is a pretty common issue.  Is there a good way to avoid it?

Hello everyone!I just installed Flash Media Server in my server with Red Hat Fedora 12 64bits but It does not work. When I go to http://localhost Apache's welcome page comes up instead Flash Media Server's.I checked the log and there is not errors.Thanks for your help.

I recently upgraded our FMS server from 3.0 to 3.5.  I was using a custom logging format so that we could process the streaming logs using awstats.  I backed up, uninstalled, and installed 3.5.  I ported over the configs for the server by manually going through the old files and new files and updating where necessary.Here is an excerpt from my Logger.xml:<FileName>access.[NN].log</FileName>.....<Schedule type="daily">02:00</Schedule>      <!-- Max number of log files to keep, files will be named access.01.log,  -->      <!-- access.02.log, access.03.log etc.                                    -->      <History>30</History>.....<Events>play;stop</Events>.....<

Good morning, We've been running FMS3 for a while and traffic is increasing. For some reason all applications (we have only 2) are disappearing and are being reset by the server every 15mn or so. In the master logs I am seeing: 2009-02-18 01:31:51 1312 (i)2581223 Core (7744) is no longer active. - 2009-02-18 01:31:51 1312 (w)2581256 Core (7744) _defaultRoot_:::: experienced 1 failure! - 2009-02-18 01:32:15 1312 (i)2581221 Core (7988) started, arguments : -adaptor "_defaultRoot_" -vhost -app -inst -tag -conf "D:\Program Files\Adobe\Flash Media Server 3\conf\server.xml" -name "_defaultRoot_::::". And the event monitor: Source: FMS (Edge) * Event Log: Application * Type: Warning Event * Event ID: 1213 * Connection rejected by server. Reason : [ Server.Reject ] : Virtual host is not available. Hello,Our customer wants to implement dual buffering with FMS solution, with 3 seconds of initial buffer and 20 seconds of extended buffer.According to the information we have this implementation is done at the Flash player, but our customer insists that we have to perform some configurations at server side.We need some help with urgency, do someone know if there is any configurations of dual buffering at server side or if it is all done at player side.Thanks in advance!!!!!Regards,Lewis
