Hi i run a streaming site, and a user is requesting to watch the stream on Xbox Media Center which has an application that allows RTMP links. It does not have the ability to view the flash web page. I run domain restriction currently, how do i have IP and Domain Restriction ? IE.. Only people that FMS allows to have viewing the stream are the domain from **EXAMPLES** - google.com and 24.42.41.41 Thanks
HI Everyone, I need some help here. I am experiencing this warning message in my Edge Log Connection rejected by server. Reason : [ AccessManager.Reject ] : [ code=403 need auth; authmod=adobe ] :. Whenever this Warning come out I will not be able to stream from my FMS anymore unless I reboot my Server. Does anyone exprience this issue and had a workable solution? Thanks
i already have Apache on my computer and it is on port 80. I am pretty sure you cant install two server programs on the same port, but it says on places on the adobe to website to not change the port unless you know what you are doing (which I don't at this point). Why shouldn't I? What would I need to do differently? Thanks!
I'm working in a video streaming project. We want to do a live video broadcast of an event, and record it for postproduction. We have a PC where FMS is installed locally. That PC is the one that we will take to the event, it needs the FMS to record event FLV's and it needs a conection with an external server to allow clients connection. The problem is how capture live video from a client side of a computer, send it to the official FMS server, and from this location, do a broadcast to the client side and allow people to visualice the live video. and i want use jwplayer as Client . Plz tell me how to send client data to server and i also want save that file on server side .Server is linux and the data transfer through web browser. is encoder is reqired at client side. Is any solution for that?

Hi, I am trying to create browser based voice recorder in flash to capture user voice and save the files in the server. Can you please suggest any way how can i create the same.
hi every body I'm using FMS long time ago and I did a lot of work with it. My problem now when I started in my new project I could not able to hear the stream, the stream not recorded on server at all ... I just got a flv file with the stream name and its size just some bytes Actionscript 3.0 code: ------------------------------ var stream:NetStream = new NetStream(connection); stream.attachAudio(Microphone.getMicrophone()); stream.publish("flash_stream", "record"); ----------------------------------------- of course I have an opened connection to the server :) FMS application code: --------------------------------- application.onConnect = function( client) { application.acceptConnection( client ); } ----------------------------- so simple :) Receiving flash Actionscript 3.0 code (the movie which get the stream): ----------------------------------------------------------------- var stream:NetStream = new NetStream( connection ); stream.client = new CustomClient(); videoObject.att

Hi... Is there any way to call functions in the server side code with Time.. Also help to know whether there is any timers in the fms server... any help will be regarder.. Bijesh
Hi, I have an application running via FMIS (dev version) that has been working just fine until today. Now I see that once the net connection fails, every status check shows that the net connection is closed. The only spot in the AS3 code which can close the NetConnection object explicitly is a single function called from about a half dozen other functions - none of which are being executed when I step through the code. So my problem is why is it that all of a sudden, after months of working just fine, would the net connection object just stop connecting and working? The weird thing is that I'm seeing a client connection in the FMS admin interface for the application, so there is some communication going on...but locally the status of the net connection keeps being read as closed. I'm afraid to update anything with the live app as long as my local app is behaving this way. The only change that I've made systemically was to apply a Windows update this morning and install a malicious
Hi, have you succeeded recording H.264 encoded stream with FMIS/FMDS 3.5? We can get the record to start and produce a file but it has only sound, no video. Live streaming works though. I'm wondering whether this has something to do with the codec, although the encoding is done on the same machine with FMLE. -- nnynas
NOTE: I posted this same question on the Adobe Groups FMS Users page. I am using Stream.play() on the server side to set up a hub to switch between live streams and recorded streams. Basically, I have a live video stream that we want to switch in a recorded segment (flv) at the end of which we go back to the live stream. Both the live stream and the recorded stream are at the same data rate. I'm following the code samples from: http://livedocs.adobe.com/flashmediaserver/3.0/hpdocs/help.html?content=00000386.html The problem I'm having is that the audio starts for the recorded segment but goes silent after the first 2-3 seconds of audio. This happens every time the clip is played. This clip plays fine when linked to directly, without being part of the hub system using Stream.play(). I have tried this with several recorded segments with the same result. Has anyone seen this happen before?

Hi, I'm planning to run a website on which I want to display some videos (on demand) to my visitors but I don't want them to download video files in any way, whether they try any tweak or anything. I went through Adobe website and came to know that Adobe Flash Media Server 3 can help me in any way, But it's extremely expensive, I can't afford it If you want you can offer me any other solution as well but my concern is: 1) I want To stop people to download video files in all ways ? But budget is extremely low, I'm an individual not a company ? Jimmy
Hi, I am a Flash developer and practically know nothing about FMS. We encountered a situation when our encoder (not Adobe's one) doesn't inject metadata into a live stream. So, there is no onMetaData on the stream. When stream is in 16x9, our players don't resize the stream according to it's ratio and always display it in 4x3. Is there a way to read width and height of the video even though there is no metsdata? Perhaps a method that can be invoked via responder similar to getStreamLength. Video is streamed via Akamai. Interestingly enough when we view the same stream in Akamai player - video is resized to the proper dimensions/ratio AFTER a few seconds. Obviously Akamai has a mechanism to detect video dimensions. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Please help, I'm an AV person (not a programmer or server manager) used to using Windows Media Server, which is a doddle to do streaming video. I have now been given Flash Media Server to make our video sources more compatable. In the first instance I am trying to set up a live feed in Flash Media Live encoder and named the stream - webcam2 I have then created a player in flash using myVideo, and have set the source to rtmp://<server address>/live/webcam2 This works fine. However, if I make it multibitrate and add two extra streams, it asks me to add the extension %i to the end in live encoder. What do I need to give as the content path in flash to make it pick up either one of the multibit rate streams OR automatically select the best bandwidth option? I have tried various URLs for the source including: /webcam2%i, /webcam21, /webcam2stream1, /webcam2%1 but cannot get it to pick up a stream. Thanks.
Hello, I've created a video player/recorder in flex using FMS and the VideoDisplay component. I'm trying to write the download progress bar into the play scrubber. The typical properties I'd use are VideoDisplay.bytesLoaded and VideoDisplay.bytesTotal however I only get -1 back for both properties. The Flex 3.3 language reference says that its all you'll get back when using the FMS. I'm wondering if anyone knows where to pull the data from then if its -1 with the FMS. I'm not sure how I can create a download progress bar without it. If anyone has any clues I'd welcome it. Also flash.events.ProgressEvent.PROGRESS is never thrown so I have no chance to pull it from there. Thanks, Pete
I have noticed sites like Justin.tv and Ustream use your software and so does my site now for live streaming. I am just wondering how I could add the chat bar on the side like they do for my website. Is there a guide or anything I could look at to get this up and running for me?
I'm new to video streaming and to FMS. I have a client that has been streaming VOD on a MS Server 2003 box but is not satisfied with the performance, in particular the substantial delay in the delivery while Windows Media Services buffers to the end user. This delay is apparent even with Advanced Fast Start. More particularly although enabling AFS does shorten the lag, it seems to do so by serving up a smaller image. Looking around for a way to improve their delivery I encountered FMS. Without giving it too much thought (always a bad thing) I downloaded and installed FMS to give it a try. Surprise. Apache stopped all of their websites! Very dumb of me! Promptly diagnosed. Stopped Apache & restarted the websites. Now the question. Is it possible to have FMS running concurrently on a Windows IIS server, or would I need to install a completely separate box for them to do this? And, if it is possible, what's the best practice to accomplish the task? Thanks for reading. Larry
My situation: We've installed FMS on our dedicated server, which is also hosting about 50 websites. It's Linux based, running a Plesk control panel. What I'd like to do is to have it such that as each hosting client signs up for the FMS service, we then go in and set up the necessary VHost/Application settings so that they can upload their .flv and .mp3 content to a folder in their site's directory, specify a connection string for their Flash player to play the conent (e.g. rtmp://www.WEBSITE_NAME.com/fms_app/ABS_PATH_TO_FILE where ABS_PATH_TO_FILE points to /var/www/vhosts/WEBSITE_NAME/httpdocs/ABS_PATH_TO_FILE ) I have read and re-read the docs and tried setting up vhosts, applications and file repositories all over the place, reloaded the server many, many times, tested things out on the server... and I've never gotten things to work like I need them to. I've done my very best to follow what's described in the docs to no avail. It's been frustrating to say the least. Here's
Hello all, I have never used FMS before but need to use it in a project over the next few months, but due to a lack of sales support from adobe I still havent had a response advising me which version we need so thought someone here may be able to put some light on it hopefully... Basically we're building a microsite for a comedy channel and we need to record client-side webcam streams (multiple) and encode their short 20 second clips into .flv files, saving on our server ready for streaming/re-play. I have not been able to determine if FMS 3.5 will be able to do all of this. I read some posts from a couple of years ago which stated you need a 3rd party encoder tied into FMS to do the full record/encode job. Is this still the case ? (I was looking at Autodesk Cleaner XL) or can i now do it with FMS?There's not enough detail on the product site to explain exactly what Flash Media Encoding Server does... does it only sit on the server and encode? or does it have all the functionality o
I want to be able to send more then one stream to my FMS. These are all live streams and I do not want any user input. I have an array with the cameras currently but I can't get them all to stream on load. I am new to actionscript but I am used to VB. Anyone know an easy way to do this? Any new advice is helpful. Thank you.
Is there a Flash Encoding Development server available for download?
Hello friends, I have installed FMS 3.5 on my server say that is "rtmpe://myserver.net". I am using FXVideo player for streaming video from VOD directory from that server. But i have uploaded the build files of the player on a different server say that is http://www.abcd.com/FXPlayer.html. So, i put source of the player is "rtmp:/myserver.com/vod/sample" (where sample is a flv file). In local machine its working fine by putting source of the player is "rtmp:/vod/sample" . But i need to know how would i call a file on a different FMS server. Please help me. Thanks, Amit
