Is it possible to record a stream, and also broadcast it out to other uses. This would be a chat room application where we want to save the session. Thank you!
I copy the following for "Learning FMS 3" 1 Create a new Flash file (ActionScript 3.0), set the Stage size in the Property inspector to 650 x 400 pixels. If you like, add a background color. Save the file as RecordPlay.fla 2 Use your own logo or make one up on the Stage. (Just draw a simple logo, select it, press the F8 button, and select Movie Clip as Type, click Export for ActionScript, and click OK.) 3 In the Property inspector in the Document Class text box, type RecordPlay and save the FLA file again. Next, open an ActionScript 3.0 file and save it as RecordPlay.as in the same folder as the RecordPlay.fla file. I do not know how to do 2 & 3,please help me and give me details how to find the menus. I am not familiar flash cs 3 Thanks Mark In the RecordPlay.as file, enter the code in Example 2-3 and save the file again.
Hello! I'm new to Flash Media Server so little help would be really nice! I intend to do a project where a live video stream should be published on a website there many clients can connect and view it. I read somewhere that FMS3 creates a connection and a stream to every single clients thats connects to the stream. Is this so? In that case I guess the server would have a hard time if a couple of 100 people connects to the stream? Is this right? Any tip on how this should be accomplished? (One person sends a stream from his webcam and its live viewed by some hundred persons).
I have a new NAS box that is holding a large amount of flv files. I'm brand new to Flash 3 Media Server, so I am sure I am missing something here. According to the docs I can add a Virtual directory in the root folder. I added the following to vhost.xml: " VirtualDirectory: <Streams>VOD3;V:\</Streams"./VirtualDirectory>", so I am expecting the V: drive to alias to VOD3 I restarted the server and attempted to access a test file via rtmp://localhost/VOD3/Test.flv. This does not work, but other files that are local in vod1 & vod2 do play as expected.
We have several large SWF files that were developed using Flash Captivate. Some of these files run for 20 minutes, so we are thinking of getting a Flash Media Streaming Server. Will the FMS play a SWF that was generated from Capitavate or do these files need to be converted to FLV format. If so, what is the best means to do so. Thanks for your help. Dan
I just installed Flash Media Server 3 according to this brilliant tutorial, FMS Installation guide. When I open the administration console it asks me for my username and password, but also for my server address - have anyone got a clue where I find this? Thanks, Kejft
I am developing an AIR application which broadcasts local video movie to other people through flash media server and flash play. I find that it is impossible to publish the local movie to flash media server, and the flash player clients which subscribes the movie will play a black screen. Could you provide a possible way to achieve this? Thanks.
Hi. We have Flash Interactive Server. Using adobe Sample VOD Client and sample VOD application FLV streams work ok, but MP4 streams return 404 error. We tried the same with our own h264 and flv, same thing happens. All files pass flvcheck. VOD Client writes "connection error" and we get a 404 error in our logs. Same happens with other players too. We have tried it with 9.0.115 flash on windows and linux (progressive download works with same test files. Adobe HD gallery also works). Our conclusion is that this is somehow a problem with FMS3, but it's strange since we didn't change application in any way, so it should work out of the box. Has anyone experienced similar issues?
Hi I have installed FMS-3 on my Windows 2003 server running IIS6. I am able to reslove to the sample material using localhost I have a subdomain, lets say fms.companyname.com. how do I set this up to resolve to the fms server instead of localhost? so that I can test from outside the local environment I'm not clear where I configure this and I cant find any documention that covers this topic, please forgive me if this has been covered before...
Trying to push recorded video out to edge servers for client access. You'd think the following would work. nc = new NetConnection(); nc.connect("rtmp:edgeserver/app"); ns = new NetStream(nc); ls = Stream.get("foo"); ns.attach(ls); ls.play("flvfile",0,-1,true); ns.publish("bar"); And it does, for a while. The "foo" stream starts playing the recorded video at it appears as expected at the edge server. But the "foo" stream thinks that it is playing to a semi-non-existent client. The client shows up in the server administration display but with no activity and a connect time of Dec 31. Enumerating the client shows the client object exists but with no properties. Within a few minutes the server kills of both the "foo" stream and the associated semi-non-existent client. Disabling the server option to terminate idle clients has no impact (it is disabled by default). Any ideas?
We have multiple FMS Origin server(s) . We plan to use a NAS device, where content is directly uploaded to it. This content will be shared across the FMS Origin server(s). I've been trying to get the FMS to see the content from the NAS device. I tried using the the <VirtualDirectory><Streams>... settings on the VHOST.XML It works fine for any drive/directory on the FMS servers. On a Windows FMS, I mounted a drive from the NAS device. I set the VHOST.XML to recognize some path on the URL to look for streams on these drive. And unfortunately it appears as if the FMS cannot find the streams. For testing I cloned the same directory structure and used the VirtualDirectory><Streams>.... options to define three locations : t1; .. Local Server Directory under applications other than standard streams location. t2; .. Local Server different hard drive than where FMS server is installed. t3; .. Mounted Drive from location on NAS Device, accessible as Local drive on the FMS i
I work with a Public Television station that currently streams or displays video on our server to a viewer on our site. I'm looking for a service or a product that First, takes our existing library of WMV files and either converts it to FLV or allows it to be played through a viewer, on our web site, or branded to our site. Also, I need this product or service to constantly automatically look for new WMVs being uploaded to our server, and then encodes it to FLV for viewing on our site. All on either our server or elsewhere. Is FMS right for me? Can anyone recommend a service that does that, and does not involve advertising?
Hello, I am new to FMS an d for the last few days my server would connect just fine and I could use the admin console just like it was intended but now it wont let me connect! It will say login attempt to server below failed please try again. Nothing is different than what it was a couple days ago when it was working fine. I checked out the cfg file and the name and the password line up just fine. Any idea why its not letting me connect anymore??? If it helps im connecting locally to my root/applications folder. Help is VERY much appreciated!!! thank you!
I have a problem with the log files not updating sometimes. The main log files (access, admin, core, edge and master) all seem to log correctly all the time, but the application logs in the logs\ directory and the _defaultVHost_\appname directories seem not to log sometimes. I cannot work out why it ever stops, but sometimes they log for some applications, sometimes not. In the admin console, I can see output being logged into the console screen, but when checking the actual log files, nothing has been written to them for days! This is a bit of an issue when trying to debug applications, as obviously I have no history of what happened! Has anyone come across this before, or have any idea what I can do about this? Cheers, K.
I can see in the system requirements that Flash Media Streaming Server can be installed on Linux® Red Hat® 4 (32-bit only). Now there is RHEL 5 available, is it also supported ? Are there additional configuration steps ?
hello, I intend to make an application with FMS3 without using SharedObject which means I would achieve most functions by server side script. So I made some simple tests on JSEngine: Connecting about 1000 clients to one application instance and each client call the server every 5 sec.(By NetConnection.call ). The server broadcast a message after recieving a function call by each client. Unfortunately FMS core allways crashing(defunct) after it runs a few hours with no special message in the logs. The only information we can find in master.00.log is : #Fields: date time x-pid x-status x-ctx x-comment 2008-08-11 15:06:59 10624 (i)2581223 Core (3717) is no longer active. - 2008-08-11 15:06:59 10624 (w)2581256 Core (3717) _defaultRoot_:_defaultVHost_:::_1 experienced 1 failure! FMS version: 3.0.2 System :RHEL AS4 The only change in FMS configuration is "<RuntimeSize>500000</RuntimeSize>" in application.xml Any one can help?
From Trainsimple.com, Bill Sanders puts it all in this DVD. The files included are almost production ready, provided you are comfortable with the basics which he also covers well in the introduction. I have listed my own copy for sell: http://cgi.ebay.ca/FLASH-MEDIA-SERVER-2_W0QQitemZ250291515756QQihZ015QQcategoryZ158905QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
I checked live docs, but couldn't find my answer. Does Flash Media Server support video that can be fast forwarded, rewound, skip sections, etc? Thanks
Hi. What are the differences between the Flash Media Server and the Flash Interactive Media Server? Is there a comparison chart? We need to do live streaming video on the web as well as AMF server capability. Thank you.
If I create a new vhost and go to the FMS3 admin console and try to restart it, I get the error "Failed to restart virtual host domain.com". I have to actually restart the server from the prompt once or even twice sometimes and then it seems to work fine. Consequent attempts to restart the vhost work fine after the server is restarted. This was not an issue for me with FMS2. I would create a new vhost and the restart vhost button would work fine. I don't like having to restart the server manually because there is usually a live stream in progress. What could be causing this behavior? No errors are recorded in the log files for the vhost.
Hi, I´m running a FMS 3 server under a single IP. Now I realized that some of our clienst are behind a firewall that blocks Port 1935. I want to configuarte the server that it uses the single IP with the three ports. I found some hints that say that I have to change it i the FMS.ini. I did that and restarted the FMS. Nothing works, even Port 1935. I wrote ADAPTOR.HOSTPORT = XX.XXX.XX.72:1935,80,443 in the FMS.ini. What can I do? Many thanks in advance. Tobi
FMS 3 is for Win 2003 SP1, does it also works on Win 2003 SP2 ?
Hi all, I'm trying to publish a stream using my own File Plugin but I don't understand how the FMS wants to use it. When I publish a stream using NetStream.publish("streamname", "record") the FMS: 1.- opens the file to read 2.- query all the attributes of the file (using the handle). I return size '0' (the file is empty). 3.- tries to read 294912 bytes. 4.- the file is empty, so I tell the FMS that I've read 0 bytes. 5.- closes the file 6.- queries all the attributes of the file (using the name). 7.- open the file to read & write 8.- queries again the file. 9.- tries to read 294912 bytes, but the file is empty. 10.- closes the file. The client gets 'NetStream.Record.NoAccess'. I don't know what the FMS is expecting from the File Plugin. I'm trying to follow the documentation and the examples, but it doesn't work. Any clues? Thanks, Jorge
Sorry that this is not a technical question but we've been looking at the media rights server and was wondering if like the flash media server, there are some companies out there that have implemented the rights server as a hosted service? Thanks Randy rcw@brownstone-ventures.com
Hi everybody, I have developed one application using FMS2 and Flash CS3 that creates a multi-publishing live stream. I am using FMS2 2.0.5 r88 with license template 2500-25.pro. The application have two parts: Publisher (can be max 900 distinct users); Viewer (can be max 100 users); After some “Publisher” client put its camera online the application put it in idle mode waiting for some “Viewer” client connect and ask to watch that stream. In this moment the Publisher client start to publish the video “LIVE” to the Viewer client and everything work good. When the Viewer client disconnect then the Publisher client goes to idle again and stop to sending the live stream into the FMS, waiting for another Viewer client again. So far so good the application works great until now. The main problem is that one bug appear all days after 15 hours connected (around 15:00 to 16:00 hours) the app stops to send any video to the Viewer client that only can see the blank video on the screen.
