I am developing a site where I need to be able to stream video using FMS and then have it automatically record and update the playlist on the website for viewing with no user interaction required. I have Flash Media Streaming Server 3 right now. I need some ideas on where to start. Thanks in advance!
Hi, I just started experimenting with FMS3 and tested the SharedBall example. If I run it in two browser windows on the same machine I get it to work. But If I run the example file from two different machines it does not work. Is sharing in the example file for local instances only somehow? Can I make it global so two different clients can share the ball? Best regards, Gibbah
I have extended various fl.video classes for my version of FLVPlayback. I call _nc.call("checkBandwidth",null); in aprox. line 1369 of NCManager.as because I could not figure out how else to access the instance of the netConnection. I get the response inside ConnectClient.as onBWDone. It traces out the bandwidth no problem. So now I am trying to get that variable back to my application mediator. I tried a getter inside ConnectClient.as but that throws a null reference error. Thanks for any suggestions. Greg
As I can't find it anywhere else on the web please allow me to ask a quick question here: Is it possible to stream more than one signal despite of the (built-in one) live publishing-point in FMSS? I want to stream two radio stations and I need to know if I'll have to buy 2 licenses for this. Thank you for your answers. THomas
Hi, Can we read Domain name like " http://domainname.com" from where our swf is placed for security reason. Like i placed my main.swf in a domain xyz.com. And xyz.com (which have main.swf) is accessing my FMS path. then i will allow that swf to enter in our FMS code. otherwise i will block that. So is it possible to read the domain name of main.swf file from where FMS is called? This will basically prevent the hackers to load FMS data in their main.swf or any name .swf file. Please help me out.
When a client application stops the stream I normally get an E_STOP notify. But if a client dies due to network outage or the client computer dies (or something other unforseen that doesnt give a FIN/RST on the TCP connection), then it seems there is no way to get a notification about this.. Or have I missed something? If not, that is a big feature request for us, and probably other people developing pay-per-view-stuff.. Also, is there some way to catch remote executions? Ie if my client calls a function on my SSAS, can I catch that invocation in my authorize module somehow? (Or in some other way get trigger some code in my plugin, when a client calls a function) Is there somewhere on the adobe site one can submit feature requests to FMIS? Thanks!
I'm trying to extract user information from the access logs so that we can find out how many users accessed content during a specified time period. As far as I can tell, the only available field is IP (which will provide inaccurate information if a bunch of users are accessing content from behind a firewall). We considered another field (c-client-id) but this field unfortunately seems to change based on the content accessed by a client (browser) even if the new content is viewed in the same browser window. So if I view 2 videos from the same browser screen, 2 separate client ids will be logged. I would like to aggregate session information for a single user. Any help will be appreciated.
I finally have answer to all of you who are seeking this question. When the Flash Player encounters the connect() method, it attempts to connect to your FCS following a very specific pattern. It first attmpts to connect over port 1935, then port 433, then port 80 and then it automatically attempts to tunnel through by sending rtmp data over http also called RTMPT it turns out the automatic sequence of attempts is fine for many situations however you may find some users can't make a connection (well , the NetConnection can't) because their firewall blocks data from traveling through port 1935. If those users can connect to any website surely they can use port 80 .And even if their setup blocks rtmp surely they can use RTMPT over port 80 because its really just plain http ...you might think the final attempt by flash player RTMPT on port 80 to be failsafe however the problem is that if you are running your webserver on the same machine as FMS then they can't both use port 80 at the sam
I know that FMS2 didn't support multicasting, but what about FMS3? Any chance of being able to provide multicast support? Maybe as well with an external solution?
As title. Thanks.
I'm developing a video player which uses the FLVPlayback component and which is now being tested. We are finding that streaming clips will crash Firefox on some but not all PCs--looks like around 10%. I haven't seen it happen on a Mac. It appears to have something to do with streaming, because if I take one of the clips and progressively download it there's no crashing. For testing purposes I've eliminated any ActionScript, there's just the FLVPlayback component on the stage. Both the clips and the swf are running at 30 fps. I'm not encoding the flvs, but is there some setting in the encoding which might make the streaming clips more likely to crash a browser?
We are having intermittent connectivity issues within our environment. Firewall logs show that the clients are trying to connect over port 1935 and that is it. We have 1935 blocked, as it was my understanding that the client will then try and negotiate to 443 then 80. Is someone else having this issue
We are coming to the end of our testing our application using the developer version of FMS3, and we are looking to buy the interactive license. I have a problem here as we are not based in the US so our prices are a lot more than our american cousins. Including uk taxes fms3 should cost us $4500 + 787.50 (taxes) = $5287.50 a price we are willing to pay, but because we are in the UK it costs us £3935.08 inc taxes which = $7152. As we are getting an electronic download ( which we do not need, just the license key is needed). Almost $2000 seems a little steep for an email with a few characters! If I can pretend to be from the US on the order form will our order be honoured? Or are there companies out there that we can use as a middleman/proxy to allow us to pretend to be from the states?
Hello Community! I hope someone can guide me to the right path to success! So I spent a lot of time getting adobe media server 3 setup and to enable enhanced seek feature... Now in my code I have the stream paused and I start seeking by 0.04 seconds increments every time I press a button... This is just so I can get a frame by frame type of solution... The problem comes when I go to a certain frame and the frame displayed is blank or a frame from few milliseconds before... Could this be the cache of the server? or some type of settings for the server? maybe the way the video was encoded? Is there a way to request the next encoded keyframe from the stream? Thanks! Jona
Hi all.. I am sending live video streams over Flash Media Server 3.0. I am using following code. camCon = new NetConnection(); camCon.connect("rtmp://localhost/higherup/_definst_"); myCam = Camera.get(); myCam.setMode( 300, 230, 100); myCam.setQuality(0, 100); camStream = new NetStream(camCon); camStream.attachVideo(myCam); camStream.publish("_definst_", "live"); myPlayer.load("rtmp://localhost/higherup/_definst_", true); It all works fine. This code connects my webcam to flash movie and stream it through FMS. In the last line of code, I am catching the stream and attaching to FlvPlayback control. Now the problem is, I want to change the name of stream from "_definst_" to something else, lets say "_raheel_". This renaming of default instance doesnt work..... I cant see my webcam playing.... camStream.publish("_raheel_", "live"); OR myPlayer.load("rtmp://localhost/higherup/_raheel_", true); These above 2 lines are example of what I want to do. Please help. Thanks in
In my admin panel if I click on the New Instance button it doesn't do anything. I've seen other posts about this and they all end up being caused by people having no applications to load, but that's not the case here. My apps are installed and they work fine, but the new instance button doesn't list them and they don't show up in the applications list of the admin panel, even when they're running. This has to be something pretty simple, but I'm not having any luck figuring it out. Any ideas?
Anyone knows how to make a sound beep by using scripts in main.asc?
Hi, We're using FMSS 3 to stream live feeds from cameras. However, we'd also like to have the ability to (via an administration site) record these live streams and allow the user to view pre-recorded streams instead of the live ones. Does anyone know of an example of how I can tell FMS to start recording a stream (via a web service or AS), and then how to stop it? Just for clarification - we don't want FMS to record a stream from the user's own camera. We want to record the live streams that are already streaming on FMS. Thanks, Filip Stanek bloodforge.com
How can i get Flash media encoder to see my USB audio and not just my computer built in mic?
i use the following flash 8 file: var nc:NetConnection=new NetConnection(); nc.onStatus=function(cStatus){ if(cStatus.code=="NetConnection.Connect.Success"){ infobox.text="success"; }else{ infobox.text="failure"; } } nc.connect("rtmp://myIP/auth"); where auth is a folder inside my applications folder. The Application.xml file (inside the auth folder) has this tag: <SWFVerification enabled="false"> i test the movie and "success" shows up in the textfield. i copy the swf file to a "SWFs" folder inside the auth folder, change the Application.xml file so that <SWFVerification enabled="true">, and restart the server (FMS3). when i test the movie "failure" appears in the textfield. What am i doing wrong?
Hi everyone, I'm a bit confused but I believe I am missing a step. Before purchasing the Streaming Server, I need to be sure that the encryption technology works and prevents users from using stream recording technologies to save the clips. (Not referring to screen recorders as we all know they will always work though with loss of some quality.) I published a flash SWF file using the FLVPlayback component, and pointed it to an RTMPE stream on my server at: rtmpe://66.186.176.18/vod/OSAAT.flv The source path works as the video plays. To confirm that the stream is encrypted I tried a program called "Replay Media Catcher" that is designed to intercept an RTMP stream to save it. To my complete surprise, it was able to save an exact copy of my RTMP E stream as stored on my server! I can't imagine that it could have decrypted a 128-bit key, so I think I'm missing something. It's clear that RTMPE is turned on on my server since the path works. Perhaps there's an additional step to have i
Im funning FMS and streaming about 300 videos from my site. I want to add a [EMBED] script so visitors who like a particular video can copy and paste the link onto their site I can seem to even figure out where to start. Any help will be appriciated. Regards Craig
I am using simple record, but it is not recording properly, playback is showing still video, audio is running, at last moments video runs very fast without audio. Management console always displays several lines like this Server detected a backward timestamp from 60332 to 60056
Hi, I'm using FMS 2 on my debian machine and a small application which records my webcam and sends it to the fms. But sometimes I got the following error in my core logs while I'm recording: "server detected a backward timestamp from #number to #number in file foobar" After some more messages of this kind the server didn't accept connections any more - I have to restart it. I have googled a bit and found some hints about using clock adjusting tools like ntp together with fms - which can cause this problem - but I have disabled all clock adjusting tools on my machine - without any success. There is a hint in the release notes for fms2: [166039] Recording FLVs with inserted server-side data messages could result in backward timestamps in the FLV. And here comes my question: What does that mean in detail? I'm quite new to AS-programming and I don't even know how to insert server-side data messages. The main.asc on my server was an example which I haven't coded by myself and looks
Hi, I have created a website in flash which contains among other things, 12-13 FLVs in different sections. A section does not display more than one FLV. To display the FLVs, I have used the ‘Import Video’ feature and chosen the ‘progressive download from a webserver’ option as the website is being hosted on a webserver. When the import finishes, video playback component appears on the stage. I have different sections of the website on different frames on stage (yeah I know not the ideal implementation strategy), so when a section with video is encountered, the website simply goes to that frame on the stage, and the video starts playing by it self. Similarly when the user switches to another section and consequently the website moves to another frame on stage, I assume that the previous video stops downloading by itself as the player is no more in that frame. Now the query is: 1) Is this the right way to do this or do I need to add a code explicitly telling the video to stop before
