I just installed the FMS 3.0.1 and followed the instruction to create a vobtest under ../application dir I run the vobtest.hmtl and got ConnectionError with all media under rmtp://localhost/vob/sample.flv ...etc. So I went to admin console to check and manual loaded vob and live application The problem is still the same I checked connection and they showed exact amount I tried to test vobtest.swf At last, I checked the server log and got this message. We are regularly (once per day minimum) seeing our admin.log fill with error messages like: Admin Command Timeout: (Command (getSharedObjects) timed out. No response from core(s) : 1796 (active)) Admin Command Timeout: (Command (getInstanceStats) timed out. No response from core(s) : 1796 (active)) Admin Command Timeout: (Command (getActiveInstances) timed out. No response from core(s) : 1796 (active)) These are in response to calls we make to admin to get stats for an instance. We would normally have 100 instances running and make call to admin once per instance every thirty seconds, which doesn't seem to me be particularly heavy usage (?). When this happens the FMS server starts to refuse connections (but not always, it appears random which are allowed through) and doesn't free up connections (we see the client count continually creep up until it is in the 100's) even though there is no one using the app at all. Nothing can restore normal functioning except restarting the FMS se
Hi there I want to encode video(live/recorded) to FLV . I want to encode from my Custom Application(VC++) . Is there any SDK available.? Is Adobe Media Encoder SDK available ? Thanks
Hi, I have a flash video on a web server, and i have its URL, now I want to stream it to my local system through my application using FMS and actionscript. will i be needing an encoder or transcoder in between?? anyone please tell me how should i proceed? thanks a ton
Hi all, I am a newbie to actionscript 3.0. I am looking for a way to stream multiple videos, flv files using Flash media Server and action script 3. I m using Flash CS3 professional environment. On my interface, i have few buttons, when clicked, they show different videos, til now i m using their URL in flvplayer.source, now i want to write a server side script to do the streaming of those videos. Can anyone put some light on it. Thnx in advance.
This sounds like something obvious but i CANNOT find an answer anywhere, so advice very much appreciated. I simply wish to have a web page an on that web page i want to have a button saying "capture audio". On click this, the user could speak into his microphone and *somehow* what he says ends up on my central server (as some usable format). Imagine a web page with a "leave me a message" option which i could play back later to find out what people said (this isn't what i am trying to do, just a sample). Can someone point me in the right direction - articles, sample and so on. thanks, steven
Hi All. I need the ability to send an object of variable properties to a ColdFusion CFC for processing. I can send a call to a CFC with specific arguments (not of type object) all fine, but sending an object fails all of the time. I define my object on the FMs side as the following: objMyObject= {}; objMyObject.message = "INFO - This is an object test!"; objMyObject.type = "info"; objMyObject.reason = "Testing sending an object to a coldfucion CFC"; After setting the NetServices gateway and appropriate responder with result and status methods, I call the CFC method with the following line: myCFCService.sendObjectTest(objMyObject); In my gateway onStatus responder I get the following: Level: error Code: SERVER.PROCESSING String too long to display Description: Service threw an exception during method invocation: The parameter OBJOBJECT to function sendObjectTest is required but was not passed in. The 'String too long to display" line is trying to print out the info.details porti
I have seen many topics with somewhat the same title and issue but have yet to find a fix. I will give as much information and if anyone can help it would be appreciated. I have installed Flash Media Server 3 on a Windows 2003 Server as Developers Edition. I have set up a simple project that has the following code: Head<script type="text/javascript" language="javascript" src=" http://<server_ip>/flash/swfobject.js"></script> Body<div id="videocontent">This content requires Flash and Javascript turned on. <a href=" http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/" target="_blank">Download</a> the latest Flash player</div> <script type="text/javascript"> var so = new SWFObject(" http://<server_ip>/flash/mediaplayer.swf", "player", "555", "335", "8"); so.addVariable( "file", "rtmp://<server_ip>/Vod/" ); so.addVariable( "id", "02_Alt_DB_Bi_Curls" ); so.addVariable( "backcolor", "0x262626" ); so.addVariable( "frontcolor", "0x
Hi! In my flex app I have a videodisplay, which should change its source every 2-5 seconds to an other clip (and or an other playhead time). Im trying to reduce the buffering times between the source changes, so that the resulting video plays without interceptions. To reduce the buffering times i've tried multiple video instances which preload its new source while an other instance is playing its clip. Are there better ways for doing this? Could SMIL be a solution? Thanks!
Hello, I'm looking to create a website with lots of streaming Flash content that will be accessed by multiple users. I'm looking at the difference between Flash Media Interactive Server and Flash Media Streaming Server; however, I'm not sure if there is much difference between the two based on what I need. Can someone please assist me in telling me the difference and, most importantly, whether Flash Media Streaming Server is enough for what I need. Thank you!
Hi all We have a streaming server, but it may not have Flash Media Server on it. If you want to stream flv files, do you need Flash Media Server installed? If so, and we don't want to buy Flash Media Server, is there a way to stream a video file from the streaming server into an swf without converting it to an flv file? Any help is always appreciated. Thanks Chris
Please Help I am in a situation where I want to send streaming video to FMServer3 along with text.I created an applcation(called Publisher) for that. And I created another application (Viewer) which is used to get live stream from server ,I am successful in streaming video. I want to know how to send text from Publisher to Viewer.
Does anyone have any idea why using LoadVars might randomly crash fmscore? The backtrace shows the crash happening in TCJavaScriptEngine::postEvent when it actually calls the onLoad handler, so it seems like the handler was unloaded for some reason although the event was not fired yet and LoadVars was still waiting for a reply. Did this happen to anyone else before? And if so, how did you fix it? Hi there, I read a lot of good writings about FMS3. I must say i am very interested to use it for a consumer website. However, i must say i found surprising not to find any feedback on real case of FMS3 architecture (or even FMS2 by the way) ? Is there a place to learn from others experiences ?
Hi, My hosting company doesn't provide me access to the commands to install FMS (errors below). I can pay them to install it but starting and restarting would presumably have to be done as root. Is it possible to install FMS as a user? Thanks for your help. Installing Adobe Flash Media Server files... Configuring Adobe Flash Media Server... Adding "fms" service. Connecting with rtmpt (http tunneling) to FMS 3 vod service takes 10-15 secs on Flash Player 9,0,115,0. I used Flex Builder 2.01 to compile the swf. OS: Windows XP, Firefox and IE7 With older version connection takes 1-2 secs. rtmp connection also works fine.
I've set up FMS Streaming Server 3.0 on one of my servers. I've created the Adapter, Host and Application, pointed the <Streams>/;D:\Flash Media Server 3\applications\2368\media</Streams> correctly, and I am able to successfuly connect to a FLV using the built-in FLVPlayback component with this path: rtmp://mydomainname.com:1935/2368/FlashMovie.flv Everythis worked fine. Now, I then created a sub-folder inside the media folder and put another movie there. The physicial file path is: D:\Flash Media Server 3\applications\2368\media\videovault\FlashMovie.flv But this rtmp path cannot connect. rtmp://mydomainname.com:1935/2368/videovault/FlashMovie.flv I get this error: Error #2044: Unhandled NetStatusEvent:. level=error, code=NetStream.Play.StreamNotFound Does anyone know why this might be? JK
So, for a few years we've been using a virtual directory (set in the "Vhost.xml" file) called "contentApp", which points at the E drive. The app folder in the "applications" directory is called "content". So, to view this via the FLVComponent, we'd use: rtmp://ourserver/contentApp/content/theFile.flv And it worked great - even using the Flash CS3 component. But the most recent update (9.0.3?), seems to include a new FLVComponent that doesn't allow this. I can open and copy from an FLA with the older component and it works great. But if I simply create a new file and use the new component, I get nothing. Was there a security update that I missed? I can get it to work by pointing at a "streams/_definst_" folder, but I really need that virtual directory (We generally have it point at a SAN, where we keep all our content). I'm going crazy looking for a solution. Any help would be great. Thanks!
friends, Help me, my fms server reject connect. config: redhat4 (Linux localhost.localdomain 2.6.9-34.ELsmp #1 SMP Fri Feb 24 16:54:53 EST 2006 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux ) mem 4G server port:80 Problem: After work some time, FMS reject connections and throws the following error into /var/log/messages: May 26 16:55:15 FMS1 Service[11310]: Server started (/usr/local/fms/conf/Server.xml). Hello there, I have a project coming up that will require the ability to record live audio conversations. It sounds like I need FMS to accomplish this, but which version? I'm hoping we can get by with the $1500 version as this is the only functionality of FMS that I will be utlilzing. Nowthen, on to my extreme-newb questions: If we are currently running the site with a php/mysql backend, will FMS have the ability to just "ride on top" of what we already have going so that we can use the audio recorcing functionality without having to re-design our entire back-end? Will it have access to our pre-existing session variables? What are the pros and cons of licensing FMS vs purchasing hosting with FMS enabled? If a miracle occurs and I get my app working on a dev edition of FMS, would I be looking at any headaches for porting it over to an FMS host? (as far as configuration and other factors) Thank you very much for any help, it is much appreciated.
Hello, is there a way in the main.asc to get the full rtmp address in the onConnect method ? The client.uri property just gives the application address (i.E. rtmp://www.server.com/applicationname) I need to get the path to the video file requested (like rtmp://www.server.com/applicationname/path/file.flv). Thanks for your help ! Z
Hi all, I hope someone else has seen this! I've found that mp3 files that have id3 tags (i.e. almost all of them) don't stream properly via FMS using rtmp. Here's an easy way to see the issue. Go to http://jonathan.podomatic.com/ and click the "Play" button at Episode 17. It will play properly. Then try the same thing with Episode 16. Episode 16 is the exact same media file, but 17 has no id3 tag and 16 has one. We're using the sample "vod" application for streaming using RTMP.
Hi, I had a little problem with the NetStream's onMetaData Event, when I stream a .m4a file from local disk, metadata tags display correctly; even artwork tag, but when I stream from a remote FMS (3.0.1) some tags are missed and artwork tag is always empty.
1.) What licensing fees are involved with the Flash Media Server? 2.) Are there special requirements for turning a server into a Flash Media Server, or can any blade server be used? 3.) Can other non-Flash related media and applications be installed on the same server? Thanks.
Hello, I try to use some directory as backup folder for fms applications shared objects: (Application.xml) ... <DuplicateDir appName="true">C:\fms\backupSharedObjects</DuplicateDir> ... Directory exists, and there are subfolders created according to my applications names. It's ok. But when FMS tries to backup shared object, I receive the following messages in log: Failed to flush shared object (C:\fms\backupSharedObjects\someapp\_definst_\someSO.fso). I have FMS installed on Windows Server 2003 sp2 and also on Windows Vista sp1. FMS service has full system control (read/write) on both OS. And on both I see error message: Failed to flush shared object... Could you help me, please? Thanks, Artem.
