Hi, at the company i work for , we started using the Flash Media Server. Nice stuff, got it up and running. Now there is an issue. Is it possible to run a remote script that resides on the same server as FMS? It's for the following scenario : A user uploads an flv-video, and after he presses save, that video needs to be distributed amoungst other servers in different countries. We've got the script read that will wait until it is executed and that copy the given file around. So i'm wondering if there is a way in server-side actionscript to make a call to a script outside of FMS. Something like External(scriptname, arguments) or such. Is this possible in FMS?
Hello, Is there any way to stream videos based on a time schedule? For example, I'm looking to play one video at 8 am, another video at 10 am, etc. and everyone who views the stream will be at the same point in the video, regardless of when they loaded it.
Hi, I'm trying to use xml class in a script on the server 1. Should i use import XML? if so in which package is it in is it the same as actionscript 3? 2? 1? i've found the api for that class but didn't see any package 2. I've read a lot about the FMS 3 but not sure i understand, which actionscript should i use? does 3 works? Plaese help (new in this server) ....
I am new to FMS and I am currently researching using the developers edition of FMS 2. I can easily stream a live feed from Flash Media Encoder, but how can I stream from other sources like FFmpeg? I can only stream from my Web Cam. Thank you
Hi guys, I have a Sony FX-1, I already try several software to record HD Video, everything works perfect, but when I try to publish the live video, the Flash Media Encoder do not recognize my camera, it says something about the resolution is not supported.... , then the only way to use that camera with Flash Media Encoder 2 is turning on the HD->DV Conversion option on the FX-1 , it means: works on non HD mode, then Media Encoder recognize the camera as Microsoft DV Camera, and the maximum resolution is 720x480 at 30fps. Please if somebody knows a way to use High Definition Camera with FME 2, and publish High Definition live video on Media Server 3, please let me know. Thanks
Probably a crazy question but I have to ask. Would it be at all possible to get a full 1 day trial for FMS? I want to seriously stress test a gaming video cast but the trial only allows 10 people. I want to load like 1000 people on it and see how everything turns out. Has anyone ever heard of anyone doing this?
Hi all, I have decided that FMS is best for my needs, and have been digging through tutorials. I have been able to set up my videos to play like an "on demand" situation..but I need something different. I need to be able to have a user visit a page, and the video is already in progress like they're tuning in to a TV station. I haven't been able to do this, I always get it so the video starts from the beginning. I am very new to this and any help would be greatly appreciated. If there is a book to buy, or a specific web page/tutorial to read, I will gladly do it...just can't find what would solve my problem. Thanks
Hi, I am using Windows XP with SP2 OS. Is it suitable for working with FMS 2 ? Thanks in advance...
I have a simple application that streams live feeds as well as archived feeds on demand. The web application that displays these feeds has the meta data stored in a MySQL database, but doesn't know if feeds are currently live, or archived. Is there a way to get this from the FMS either by connecting and getting a list of live feeds or by having the FMS connect to the database? Is my only option to create another flash application that simply plays the live feeds? Thanks, -Ben
How can I push streams being put onto my FMS to a CDN? Do I have to edit an asc file? Where does that file need to go? Thanks for any help.
when i use netStream.play("mp3:信自己"); the FMS 2 said that streams not found, but i use netStream.play("id3:信自己"), the streaming success.
Hi, I am New to Flash Media Server... Hi all! I have a live streaming application running with FMS2 and I have come across an issue with recording streams. My application allows a client (from a pool of multiple clients) viewing the stream to record the stream to the FMS server. I start the recording on the server side with the following (simplified) code: application.recordStream = Stream.get(instanceName); if (blnRecord) { // start recording application.recordStream.record(); } else { // stop recording application.recordStream.record(false); } There is something that I'm having trouble with though - is there a way to record the stream with a different (unique) name rather than the instance name? I ask this because I need to have different names for each different recording session. Using file.renameTo( ) after the recording finishes works in theory, but in practice it seems that the recorded file is buffered before it is written to disk. So when the application.recordStream.record(false); line is invoked, trying
Perhaps pricing doesn't prohibit large media companies, but it sure prohibits most developers and small businesses. I'm not interested in trying to compete with the big television networks or Youtube by delivering streaming video, so the $995 Flash Media Streaming Server 3 for video isn't a solution. However, I would LOVE to use Adobe products for my multi-user applications, but Flash Media Interactive Server 3 at $4500 insures that only VERY large budget companies... scratch that... very large budget projects can justify using it. SURELY, a version for small business, low-priced products and services can be released? Or, maybe the pricing is mixed up and the video streaming version is supposed to be $4500 while the version for "delivering interactive social media applications" should be $995?
Just a short question: I'm trying to download the dev edition to try and see what the product can do. However, the form does not seem to be working. Does anyone have any idea how I can proceed from there, or does anyone have a direct link? Thanks a million, Steffen

Hello : I have a problem of server side "Stream class" and rebublish live video stream. In brief, I assume the live video stream can be chained between 2 or more Flash media server, the server side code is (from FMS online documents) : application.onAppStart = function(){ trace("::: Application has started :::"); } application.onConnect = function(client){ application.acceptConnection(client); } application.myRemoteConn = new NetConnection(); application.myRemoteConn.onStatus = function(info){ trace("Connection to remote server status " + info.code + "\n"); }; application.myRemoteConn.connect ("rtmp://192.128.1.264/FMS_test"); application.myStream = Stream.get("showvideo"); if (application.myStream){ application.myStream.play("showvideo1", 0, -1, false, application.myRemoteConn ); } This server-side code is placed on a computer which ip address is 192.128.1.163 , and I want to take 192.128.1.264 as "main flash media server" , so I assumed the former computer(192.128.1.
Hi guys, Did a quick search but come up with little info. Is it possible to create flv cuepoints in a stream being recorded from a webcam? At present i am able to record and pause the recording of the stream. I was wondering when the recording is paused if it would be possible to make this a cue flv point so i will be able to trigger it later. Thanks
I'm looking for a prebuilt flv player that will display a chapters list and expand to full screen. Something similar to http://www.ted.com/index.php/talks/view/id/167 or http://www.rich-media-project.com/ (but will stream videos from FMS). Is there any such thing available? Thanks, Mickey
Everytime when i click Flash Media Server 2 it flashes so fast and disappers. Help.... I installed Extension Manager - No Go.
http://www.adobe.com/products/flashmediainteractive/ Contains a link on the right side titled "download free developer edition." However, the downloads available only include the Flash Media Server v2 downloads. Does anyone know when/if this will be updated? Or do you know of another way to get the trial? Thanks, Kyle
Hi I use a program that encodes in many audio format (acc, wma, ogg, mp3, etc) and connects to shoutcast, icecast, windows media server, live365, to distribute the web radio. Willing to use FMS as the distribution server, I tried to send the stream to FMS port but without succes. Online docs doenst treat the argument. Is it correct to say that FMS is not set up to accept a Windows Media, AAC+,MP3 or Ogg incoming stream and redistribute the radio to swf players? Best Jo
Hello, I have created a videoconference app which contains 2 cameras. It works fine. Now I need to also record the stream for archiving purposes as this will be used in the medical field. So basically can 2 flv files be created at the same time as the live feed? Thank You
