Hello, I have created a chat application using the communication components using this tutorial http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flashcom/articles/first_comm_app.html I have people list component , chat component and the simple connect component in the stage. In simple connect I have given the localhost path and instance name of other components. When I run the application the connection light TURNS GREEN indicating the connection has been established. I even have server-side script main.asc which loads the component.( load( "components.asc" );) But, my problem is what to do after that..? Because when I press on the login button of simple connect nothing happens! And also, when I type something on the chat and enter nothing is displayed in the chat area. What may be the problem?? Any ideas…??
I have a little app, that I need to record a 30 second recording and then post that information up to a server as an audio file. Do I HAVE to use the streaming server to do this, or can I have the recording stored in my Flash app and have Flash post it for me? Any input would be great. I have searched the forum and see this has been asked before, but no-one has replied to that person's post.
Has anyone tried to stream the H.264 files from FMS. Adobe claims that the following MPEG-4 based file types can be played: MP4, MOV, 3GP, and 3G2. I tried with mov file but FMS is not able to stream this file. I have flash player version 9,0,115,0 installed
I ran into an interesting problem. My application records a data-only stream (via FMS 2.0) which contains various events that occur during a session. During playback, if I don't set a buffer on the Netstream object on the client, for the most part, the events get triggered at proper times. However, if I do set a buffer (and I tried values from 5 to 100 seconds) a certain number of events just don't get triggered from the data stream. The greater the buffer, the more events are skipped. I would ideally like to have a buffer. Is this a bug, or is this one of those aggravating and perplexing 'features' of flash's stream implementation?
Hi, We have set up FMS 2.0.4 and want to find out if caching capability is available in FMS and information regarding cache settings. Please let me know if this information is already available somewhere. Any help on this topic would be helpful. Thanks!
Hey, I am having trouble with my shared object. It shows up as a SO in the FMS console however the .data does not show up in debug mode. I think the problem may be in the object Encoding. The onSync event is called only once it connects but is not called again. And when I call it, it traces back undefined. Any help please? Cheers, Pablo import flash.events.MouseEvent; import flash.events.NetStatusEvent; import flash.net.SharedObject; import flash.net.ObjectEncoding; NetConnection.defaultObjectEncoding=ObjectEncoding.AMF0; var nc:NetConnection=new NetConnection(); nc.objectEncoding = ObjectEncoding.AMF0; nc.addEventListener(NetStatusEvent.NET_STATUS, netStatus); nc.addEventListener(SecurityErrorEvent.SECURITY_ERROR, netSecurityError); nc.connect("rtmp://***.***.**.**/test"); var mySO:SharedObject= SharedObject.getRemote("mySO", nc.uri, false); this.mySO.addEventListener(SyncEvent.SYNC, mySync); this.mySO.connect(nc); //var xPos:Number = ball_mc.x; this.mySO.data.xPosD=Number(60
Hi all i am new to flash media server ... i have a question before i have to post an architecture diagram for Comunication between media server , web server and Flash media server client ... My question is that i want to know that ... lets suppose i have a simple live stream application installed on media server that reside on a third party and the flash client along with other website data is located on the webserver thats again another location. So once the connection is established with the flash media server if the webserver goes down will the flash media server keep on streaming to the flash client ... In my opinion it will keep on streaming as webserver has nothing to do with the flash media server and the rtmp://ip:port//....... this connection is independent to the web server .. But i m not sure and wana ask the Guru's advice on this ... I will appreciate you replies Thanx Bilal
is there a list of formats that convert well to Flash Video? I'm trying to convert an avi file to Flash video. However, when the encoder is processing the video, none of the data is being preserved (the preview window is completely white). The avi file plays properly by itself. I'm not sure if its not a good format to convert, or if the problem is with my encoder settings, or with the settings when the avi file is created (its being created from a .vob file). I don't have much of a video background (web designer) so any help is greatly appreciated.
Hi Guys, I have both Flash Streaming Server and Flash 8, but I can not find any tutorials that help me with my problem. I am trying to make a player like the MYSPACE mp3 player (www.myspace.com/thehives) it has all the functions that I need and the audio does not cache. I have made radios that stream in audio but I am unable to get track timings or scrub the audio. I need a player that can stream mp3 from secure server, be able to scrub the audio track and get the tracks timings. Please help my head is cooking.
Hi everybody! , this is my first post in this forum. I´m new to FMS and multiuser tecnologies. And I´m looking for the best way to make multiuser applications. I´ve seen some xml socket servers like ElectroServer, SmartFoxServer, Unity, etc, and all of them have a "framework" or client API that is able to make applications without programming anything in the server. Just like FlashComm components, the common tasks for create and manage rooms, users, etc are solved. I have to develop some multiuser games with AS3. So my question about FMS is: ¿Is there any framework both on server and client side, or at least on the server side for the common tasks of a multiuser application? I´ve seen the fms components and I don´t understand how people at this time can still make app´s with as1... I Know Adobe don´t support that, but I guess somebody did it. And this stuff will be the difference of choosing FMS or another tecnologie.
Hi, we have two FMS servers running version 2.0.4 r79 on Linux, and they are managed by a load balancer that directs client connections to both of them. we have had two problems with them. 1. Failed connections - About every 2 days, one of the servers stops responding to connection requests. It accepts the socket connections, but does not go through with the protocol handshake - This is a typical connection result from the FMS server indicating success -- 00000000 02 00 00 00 00 00 04 05 00 00 00 00 00 13 12 d0 |................| 00000010 02 00 00 00 00 00 05 06 00 00 00 00 00 13 12 d0 |................| 00000020 02 02 00 00 00 00 00 0e 04 00 00 00 00 00 08 00 |................| 00000030 00 00 00 00 00 00 01 0a 55 d8 c0 02 00 00 00 00 |........U.......| 00000040 00 06 04 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 03 00 00 |................| 00000050 00 00 00 73 14 00 00 00 00 02 00 07 5f 72 65 73 |...s........_res| 00000060 75 6c 74 00 3f f0 00 00 00 00 00 00 05 03 00 05 |ult.?......
My FMS (beta) service has stopped running. Since returning from the Xmas break (ie Jan 2nd 2008) it is failing to start, giving runtime/memory errors. Im assuming these errors (crashes) are related to the date as this is also happening to a developer (ie non-licenced) version on another machine. Both servers were working fine in 2007.
Hello, Is it possible to disconnect from the FMS host site connection by using PHP scripts only? Like clicking a logout button or something. I need to log out a user from the chatroom without entering the chatroom and only logging the user out in the PHP administrative side, which must also disconnect the user inside the chatroom from the FMS host site that will also directly eject her from inside the chatroom. Instead of logging inside the flash chat and logging the user inside. Help on this will very much appreciated. ^_^
when a client presses the browser back button instead of closing the window then FMS 20+ seconds to fire its onDisconnect servers side function but if the user closes the window then FMS responds right away with the onDisconnect function.....does anybody know a fix for this issue?

I consider myself an intelligent fellow, but getting Flash CS3 to stream vis FMS is killing me. I've read the posts here where people are describing similar situations. I've read several websites that show kinda similar methods of getting this done, but none are working! The docs on FMS & CS3 are like in an infinite loop "see AS2.0/3.0 documentation on how to stream videos" & when you get there "See FMS documentation on how to stream videos"!! I've read this & did it all, no dice: http://www.mcalister.cc/ddd/flv/index.html Read this which linked me to above, no dice: http://livedocs.adobe.com/flash/8/main/wwhelp/wwhimpl/common/html/wwhelp.htm?context=LiveDocs_Parts&file=00003495.html Here is my config: SERVER running FMS2, Windows Server 2003, IIS6, offsite, but am able to RDP in. File structure: C:\Program Files\Macromedia\Flash Media Server 2\applications\ForRentFlash\streams\small\Cosmo_Small.flv C:\Program Files\Macromedia\Flash Media Server 2\applications\ForR
Hi, I am sure I am missing the obvious. I have downloaded the flash media server and set it up. Inside I have checked that all the communication component.asi files have been correctly downloaded also and stored in the scriptlib folder. When i open Flash 8, in the components inspector, no Communication Components appear. I believe that this should be automatic? Or am I missing the obvious?? Do I need to move the compenent files in order to use them? I have tried copying them into the same file as the other components, but this doesn't work either. All help appreciated. Suzanne (blond!)
I have an application that records video from the user's webcam using FMS 2. After the file is created I want to perform several post-production processes on the recorded FLV, but I have found out that recorded FLV files have an unexpected end of file. Each time I try to open the file for processing with external tools I get EOF errors. My guess is that FMS does not close the FLV file just in case another client might want to "append" video to it. Anyone know a way to configure FMS or record the stream in a way that the file gets closed properly? thank you
i am new to flash media server. please any one give me online tutorials.
Hello, I'm working on a project involving Flash Media Server 2 and streaming videos using RTMP. At first I thought I could just use the FLVPlayback control, but it doesn't seem so secure. I don't even need to connect to the NetConnection object before passing along a value to the .source property or .load method. So I've begun looking at NetStreams and then using attachNetStream to a Video object. This way, it will only connect to the stream if it successfully hooked up with the NetConnection (application.acceptConnection). Am I right in assuming this is more secure than using a FLVPlayback control? Is there a way to pass a stream to a FLVPlayback control so the UI is already built, including start/stop/pause and the playhead they can use to scrub? Or is there an easy way to build the UI on a custom video object? Any links to examples would be greatly appreciated. I currently have it so users can click thumbnails (loaded through XML) to .seek() to particular s
Hi guys, I am a new beginner and looking for some informations about FMS. However I can't find any much sample for study. If you have one, pls let me know. Thanks. jliu93@learn.senecac.on.ca :)
Hi, No luck with FMS developer version installation. My installation on Linux worked only after -platformWarnOnly flag. Used all default settings for port and admin port. FMS and webapp servers are separate. FMS on Linux, webapp is local from my Mac. netstat shows that everything is listening on the right ports. Admin service seems to be running. however the fmsmgr command for getadmin does not work, connecting via the fms2_console.htm console from my Mac does not work. Sample application (registered correctly under applications) does not connect using rtmp. Logs show nothing except time of start/stop. I've looked at a lot of forums, with no luck! ideas? experiences? suggestions? -chanda
Can anyone tell me why I am getting the following error while attempting to install the FlashMedia Server2 onto my Linux server Error: your distribution, unknown, is not supported by this Macromedia Flash Media Server installation I am attempting to install the free version
Hello, I have a problem that occurs quite often, but I do not know the cause. My application is a video chat, and at times there has to be an error log in core.log: 2007-12-25 22:46:14 1764 (e)2581279 Assert failed in \server\core\FCSLocalApplication.cpp line 122 - 2007-12-25 22:46:14 1764 (e)2581279 Assert failed in \server\core\FCSLocalApplication.cpp line 122 - 2007-12-25 22:46:14 1764 (e)2631029 Bad network data; terminating connection : String too long to display - 2007-12-25 22:46:14 1764 (e)2631029 Bad network data; terminating connection : String too long to display - Someone has already had this problem? I saw no or it could come ...
We use a big infrastructure on OS X Server, and actually we have some apps developed with FMS 2 run on a little test windows server. I hope we will be able to install FMS 3 on OS X Server to connect FMS apps to SSO, LDAP, SAN, to improve disponibility and security of services. If not, we begin to develop on RED 5 whichis available on simply tomcat server which run on OS X. But I think there are no reason that Adobe will not deliver OS X version of FMS 3 whereas a linux exists. Can you tell us more about this support ? Thanks a lot. Chris
