So, can asc file can call php file via LoadVars or amfPhp (remoting)? Im new to FMS2 and google doesnt seem to help me much to find good information. Thanks!
I am running the developer version on a Window's XP Computer. When I started FMS up today I was not able to load any applications. I noticed that the “Flash Media Server (FMS)” Service keeps stopping on its own. I go into "Services" and start it manually but every time that I attempt to start an application the service stops. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling and this does not help. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I can try to resolve this problem?? Thank you!
Hi, I'm trying to get started with FMS2, with a view to being able to stream (not prgressively download) a bunch of FLV videos. I have the developer edition of FMS installed on a server (we are intending to buy the Pro version once this is working) and an FLV file, test.flv I have created a folder as follows: C:\Program Files\Macromedia\Flash Media Server 2\applications\VideoTest In the FMS2 console, I have created an instance of VideoTest called myVideoTest. Now, this is where I am unsure. I have read about creating a "streams" folder where the FLV file should reside, and I have tried a number of different variations, e.g. applications\VideoTest\myVideoTest\streams\myVideo.flv applications\VideoTest\streams\myVideoTest\myVideo.flv Then, I have created a new Flash document (using Flash Professional 😎 and added a new Video component and tried variations of the following code: nc = new NetConnection(); nc.connect("rtmp://<server IP>/VideoTest/myVideoTest"); ns = new
Guys, I'm trying to stream or even download flv files from Flash Media Server. The FMS is located at localhost. I'm using a FLVPlayback component to do it. I set 'my_FLVPlybk 'as instance name. The script is just like this: import mx.video.*; var listenerObject:Object = new Object(); listenerObject.playing = function(eventObject:Object) { trace("The isLive property is " + my_FLVPlybk.isLive); }; my_FLVPlybk.addEventListener("playing", listenerObject); my_FLVPlybk.contentPath=" http://www.myserver.com/default.flv"; //end >> For the contentPath i just used the following strings: my_FLVPlybk.contentPath="rtmp://localhost/myAppName/fileName" or my_FLVPlybk.contentPath="rtmp="//localhost/myAppName/fileName.flv" I also tried to use the IP address instead of localhost and it just does not work as well. In FMS application folder , inside myAppName/streams/_definst_ folder there's a file called main.asc and its content is: load("components"); What else can I do? Is there somet
Hi, I have installed the FMS 2 (Developer License - 10 connection) on a remote CentOS 4.4 with quite a bit of gymnastics! I followed the minimalistic install steps described in the documentation. After the installation, I logged into the admin console and went to the Manage Servers tab. I can see 'Server 1' with a _defaultVHost_ entry below it. I tried several times to ping and connect to 'Server 1' with no luck. First of all, when FMS is installed properly, How many servers (services) are supposed to run? There is the admin and I presume a fms server. I tried to start the fms server by this command: ./fmsmgr server fms start All I get is this output: Server:fms command:start NPTL 2.3.4 Starting Macromedia Flash Media Server (please check /var/log/messages) When I look at the running processes (daemons), I only see fmsadmin! On top of it, the log file is empty! What am I doing wrong? Do I have to install another C++ or C library? Any help is greatly appreciated.
I'm doing an application where people will be able to record a video message with their webcams and send invitations to friends to come and watch them. Once the friend reads the message and if the message's recorder agrees, the message goes to a public archives section. Is it possible to extract snapshots of the recorded streams in order to make a preview page of all posted messages ? You would first see a list of available videos with screenshots, then select the vid to see and then only the stream begins. Something like youtube snapshots after you get your search results. Thanks in advance
If you buy flash media server, do you pay for it once, or do you have to pay for it dependent on how much bandwidth you will use? If i have my own server and have it installed on that, surely i only have to purchase the software once? thanks to any responders.
Hello, I'm having trouble getting FMS2 installed on CentOS. I have looked all over for information, but can't seem to solve the problem. After a fresh install in everything appears to install OK, it says server started. So i think everything is working fine. When i go to load an application I get this in the logs: Failed to create thread (TCServerConnector::startConnector) Server aborted Anyone have any ideas? Thanks.
I installed Realplayer 11 beta on one of my Windows Vista machines yesterday, and it seems to be getting in the way of the flashplayers netconnection.connect requests. I found that varaible data that should be sent to Flash Media Server applications through the Flashplayer client (in the NetConnection.connect arguments) is no longer being sent, and all of the variables come up as undefined on the server side! The new reaplayer has a feature that gives you a button to grab video files from web pages. I found that if you don't install this button (there's an option in the reaplayer installer), the problem with the netconnection vars doesn't come up. This is happening on Vista/IE7/FP9. Is anyone else having the same problem?
Can i use Actionscript 3.0 to connect to RMTP? Because NetStatusEvent always return netConnection.Connect.Failed when i use : my_nc.connect("rtmp://127.0.0.1/tutorial_hello") Which works fine with Actionscript 2.0 ThaNKS.
Hi, I am testing a developer version of Media server. I am broadcasting real-time audio (not a pre-recorded file). I am curious how fast the audio is distributed among the clients? What's the delay value between the Media server and the clients? On the client side I am monitoring a "liveDelay" value every five seconds. The value keeps its value at around 0.200-0.500 seconds. Is that a real delay between the client and the server? Sometimes this value jumps to 3.5 seconds and stays there for a long time. My network is perfect (it's our internal network and the latency is less than 1ms). Is it possible to make sure that the Media server broadcasts the audio data as fast as possible please? Thanks
Hi, I didn't find any info in how to get FMS Server running on Fedora RedHat 4 so I'm here =D Any tips? Regards, Felipe Andrade
I just installed FMS 2.0.1 on Debian 3.1, Mandriva 2005 & 2006. I got the same problem on each. I installed the samples by copying applications folder but applications just cannot launch. I mean the server is on and I can access the control panel but i cannot instance applications. Thanks, LoLoVioLo

Hi, We've just finished installing FMS 2.0 on a Fedora Core 6(using installFMS -platformWarnOnly). It looks like everything is working fine, however, when we start recording a stream, it only records the first frame of the video. If we append it with another video, it also ends up as a single frame. This application wirks pefect on a localhost installation within FMS 2. Here's the video: http://www.digitalboys.com/video_18-07-2007.flv Please help 😞
I'm having difficulty to determine which flash player version is required by users when playing FLV files using the video object in flash (so no fancy FLV playback components). I've read that thare ar basically 2 codec for FLV files, Sorenson an On2, and that Sorenson is supported from Flash player 6 and upwards and On2 from Flash player 8 and upwards, but what codec is used when just playing flv files that were recorded by Flash Media Server and playing is in a "simple" video object.? Or can i just use the publishing settings and set it to player 6 and thats it? (To be absolutely clear: I am not encoding the flv files with an encoder, i just play back the flv streams recorded by Flash Media Server itself)
Recently, I downloaded Flash Media Sever. I am trying to get started, but I ran into a road block.......The home page of the Management Console asks for the username and password.......Where do I get that from (remember I am one who downloaded the software) . Also, where can I find the Gateway URL for my server..............it needs to look like the following "PROTOCOL://SERVER_ADDRESS:PORT/APPLICATION_NAME/INSTANCE_NAME"
So we've got like 15 Edge servers setup wtih 5 Origin servers. Things seem to generally work for streaming live video. There are problems though where some boxed won't always come up as if FMS has hung. Currently I'm checking the number of fmscore processes with a script since I can't seem to get the HTTP admin interface to return anything other than NetConnection.Connect.Rejected: Admin user requires valid username and password. Which is odd since it has the correct username and password and the config files say it should work. But sometimes the servers won't even start correctly. We have all of the logging turned on. But it starts up, says it loads the applications, no second fmscore process starts, and the remaining processes disappear after 5 to 10 minutes. No errors anywhere on the system. This is CentOS 4 with FMS 2.0.4 and FMS 2.0.3. Anyone else having similar problems or have suggestions to things that we could trouble shoot? I'm going to resort to straces soon.
I'm having a really strange problem. We set up our FMS a couple of weeks ago, and are able to stream videos. However, the person that is directing this project has been out of the country for a week. He has tested our site from his hotel in both Thailand and China, and then again last night from a computer in a large convention center. When he clicks on the playlist, the video screen just spins. At first I thought it was a bandwidth issue, but after reviewing the log files, I see that he has never established a connection. I have tested the connection from outside of our department (i.e., home computer, and various friends/family in different states) and we have no problems connecting. Has anyone ever heard of this happening? It doesn't make sense to me that people in the US would be able to connect, but not from other countries. I need to get this figured out. This is an education site, and we want to stream to people around the world. Can someone PLEASE help me???
Hi, I am going to do a live broadcast and I need to know how to connect the live feed from a A / V computer to the Flash Media Encoder. The encoder is looking for a camara and I am not confident it will see the live feed from the A / V computer. I have done live before but from my own camara not from a feed. Any help would be appreciated!
Hello, I am trying to establish a flash based webcast system using FMS. I installed FMS 2 on a Gentoo Linux (I had to modify the installation procedure since this distribution is a priori not compatible with FMS). I started FMS 2 successfully. I constructed a "broadcaster" SWF that lets the user connect to the FMS then start broadcasting. Through a Windows computer connected to the network, I could login to FMS 2 through the fms_console. However, I could not establish a connection to the FMS 2 server through the "broadcaster" app running on the Windows PC. Here is the relevant Actionscript of the broadcaster app: -------------------------------- connect_pb.onRelease = function(){ if(this.label == "Connect"){ status_txt.text += "Connecting..." + newline; this.label = "Disconnect"; nc.connect("rtmp://192.168.1.105/myliveapp"); } else { status_txt.text += "Disconnecting." + newline; this.label = "Connect"; nc.close(); } } nc = new NetConnection(); nc.onStatus = function
Hello! How can I connect internet-camera to fms? Flash media encoder works only with local video devices as it seems to me. So, the problem is to encode video stream from internet-camera and to direct this stream to FMS instance. The only way to get connection with internet-camera is to use network (no usb adn so on).
Hi, I wish to learn flash media sever.... I dont have any knowledge in server side scripting.... i have good knowledge in action scripting.... What else i have to know to learn flash media server. Thanks, shanthi.
Hello, I've just installed flash media server 2 on a linux machine with fedora 6. The server runs and I can connect to it via the fms2_console. But when i try to load an application, it always dissappears again. It's like he cannot load the components. I use the adobe sample applications to test the server. Everything is set correct in the fms.ini file. I've tried the same setup and application files on a windows machine and on that machine it works fine. I need to get this working on this linux machine. anybody suggestions?
