I've been having problems with the Camera.get method returning drivers that are not even web cameras. For instance, I connect with one computer and the camera name is called "ATI T200 AVStream Analog Capture" - this is not a webcam. So my question is, is there anyway to accurately detect one? I even tried messing around with motion detection, and while there is no video output from the driver mentioned above, the motion fluctuates between values 0-6.

Does anyone know how to troubleshoot why FMS isn't saving my FLV recording stream? I see streams/_definst_/ inside my application folder, but nothing is ever there.
I know that FMS can communicate with .NET via remoting and the FlashGateway, but is the opposite true? Is it possible to initiate a message FROM the .NET (or any other server environment) *to* FMS? Application Server -> FMS ? Please let me know if this is possible with FMS, or with any other flash technology like Flex or Remoting? Thanks
I'm a newbit to Flasha dn flash media server and need some help with integrating the two products. We've just purchased Flash Media Server 2 to stream user created videos to a website. Idealy we would like to use the FlvPlayBack component placed on the stage to display the FLV file from the media server, but cannont get the component to access the FLV file. Media Server Configuration: On the Media Server we created an application (testapp) with an default instance (_definst_). The directory path for the Appliation looks like this W:\MediaApps\testapp\streams\_definst_\ The name of the server is MediaServer The application and instance are appearing in the Media Server Admin manager. I've placed an FLV file (Movie.flv) In the _devinst_ directory. Flash FLA file Placed FLVPlayback component on the stage Set contentpath= rtmp:\\MediaServer\testapp\_definst_\Movie Set islive=true When I test publish the file, the video does not display? Does anyone have any guidance on what I

Can anybody advise me how to install a updater? It seems it is just a plain installation and it will retain all the settings in previous installation. Right? I could not find any documentation about this. THanks Frank x96099
Hi! I'm trying to record .mp3 file with FMS. I can save .flv with my webcam (video+audio) but i'd to save audio only files in .mp3 format using only my microphone. I just use netStream.publish(myFileName, "record") to save my files. I've tried netStream.publish("mp3:myFileName", "record") but it doesn't work. May i have tu create a directory different from /myapp/streams/_definst_/ to record mp3? Thanks in advance! Any help will be useful and appreciate! M.

Does anyone have any suggestions for creating a preloader for my flv movie (streaming an external flv into the flv playback component(Flash 8). I just want the movie to wait a sec to start playing so it will play without interruption when it starts. Even if you could point me in the direction of a good article I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks so much
I cannot run the trial version of FMS/2 on 64-bit Linux OS. Can someone please cofirm me whether does FMS/2 support 64-bit operating systems. Thanks!
Hi, I'm trying to synchronize several Audio streams during playback and recording. Several questions I have and not sure if actually feasible or how to best address : 1/ When playing back 2 audio streams, how can I ensure the playback is full synchronized (<20ms difference) when client receives the 2 streams in playback ? Basically trying to simulate a mix-down with 2 // streaming. Ultimately wants to achieve this with about 5 audio streams playing back and can't accept tolerate delay. I suspect I need to synchronize the start of each stream so that they all start together, but not been very succesfull so far. Alternatively is there a way to mix-down 2 streams on server and send back a 1 mixed-down audio stream ? 2/ More tricky I believe : If I playback 1 audio stream and start recording a separate audio stream, I'm getting again desynchronised. Later If I replay the 1 audio and the newly recorded one, both are not anymore aligned. I suspect (but not sure that the delay and desync
I am developing a virtual classroom application. In two way live communication the delay with video/audio between participants is about 5 seconds, which is totally unaccaptable. Can it be improved with the client / server side coding or with improving / fine tuning the FMS or Windows server? Server specs are: FMS 2.04 Windows 2003 SP2 2.0 GHZ AMD Athlon 64 Processor 3200+ 1Gig RAM Plenty of disc space It's a dedicated server located in Germany. The users who tested were based in the UK. This problem could be a project killer if now solved :(
I have a website that accepts video uploads. I then of a content management tool that always me to browse and uploaded videos and approve or deny them. For any I approve, I then convert the video to FLV, i then want the automated process on my site to append a cookie cutter trailer video to that uploaded video. so my question is, how to append one FLV to another FLV through code on the fly on the website? any help appreciated thanks bill
I have FMS2, profile 1, limited to 150 concurrent license connections. Question: if user number 151 hits the web page, my video box will not display the FLV because of concurrent connection limits. Is there a way to substitute a still image to replace the FLV if more than 150 concurrect connections are made?
I'm running FMS2, profile 1, that has 150 concurrent users. Here's my question: once a user stops watching the streaming FLV (and it doesn't loop), does that release a license for the next user? Or does the user have to leave the web page? In other words, when does the license get released for the next user?
i use the default videoconferance demo from adobe. When i try to talk from a linux to a windows machine the audio is played faster and sounds very high tone. when i talk from the windows to a linux machine i get a slowed down and very low tone. Everyting works fine when i talk from a windows to a windows machine o linux to linux. I tried all the sample rate options in publish setting and nothing works
Hello. I successfully setup FMS and have a virtual IIS directory pointing to the web pages that will display the streaming videos. Internally on our network, I can stream all videos no problem. But from the outside world (Internet) I can access the web page and select a video, but no video is displayed. We use ISA 2000 as our firewall and proxy server. We host our own web site. Accessing web pages is no problem, it just the streaming of video is causing me a headache. I have tried to open ports on the server to allow streaming but it still does not seem to work. I have tried to open port 1935 without luck it seems. Does anyone have FMS running behind an ISA 2000 firewall exposed to the Internet that successfully streams videos? I would be very keen to hear how you have done this. Cheers Pete Zed
Hi While testing on our dev enviroment we came accross the following error message in the admin.00.log Assert failed in /server/admin/FCSAdminServer.cpp line 361 When i checked the dev server i found that the fms console showed no application running, even though we still had users connected up, the users could still message each other and could still view each others cams. I restarted the application in the console and the users were still connected even though the console showed no users connected at all. Any new users that connected were shown in the console but could not interact with the previous users. It looks like the assert failure causes fms to lose track of the instance that is running, that instance can no longer be controlled or viewed even though it is still active. we're currently using version 2.0.4 but ive seen this happen a few times with previous versions. If anyone can shed light on this issue it would be greatly appreciated.
I am on a 1.5mb connection with a 7mb flv file on the fms server and the stream is awful. stop start stutter stutter. It really is un-watchable. If i set flvPlayBack isLive to "true" then the flv want load. It will only load if isLive is set to false witch contradicts what the doc's say. I tried to increase the bufferTime to see if that would help but with no joy. any help or advice very much appreciated thanks Paul
I have some trouble with overwriteing previous streams i recorded. My app is simple i want to record a stream and then let the user view it. He can then record the stream again and view the new recording. My problem is that when a recording is done i copy it to another location (using virtual directory mapping) only when i check for the just created recording by doing the following: var tmp = new File("streams/instancename/recording"); if ( tmp.exists){ //copy the file } else{ trace("recording not found"; } it traces that the recording is not found. Has this something to do with the fact that the recording thas was written by FMS needs more time before the file system realizes it is there? Besides that i have the problem that when i overwrite an flv file an play it, the old recording is shown and not the new one. Has this something to do with caching because the old recording does not exist any more as a file? I tried several things but i am nog getting any further so any help would
Hi there, I have a big problem, creating a V/A chat.I use the remote components witch come with flashcom server.I decided to modify the sample_videoconference example and I met difficulties using AVPresence component. All i want is to force it to recieve a stream from a specific user I select from user_list component. I tried to force it like that this.ns.play("user"); nothing happened. I tried to create a new nc then ns and then play it ... the same.
I installed Flash Media Server on Windows 2003 server. I can open management console from the startup menu. It works fine. When I try use RTMP from my browser it just hangs there. Is there a way to troubleshoot it. I tried to install FMS on different machines (Windows 2000, Windows 2003) and they have the same issue. Thank You
ok I'm pretty new to the streaming thing. I've asked on other forums and have been told flash is the way to go. What I want to do is upload videos to a linux server and have them playing live/in real time as oposed to from the begining each time the page is refreshed. I think the outcome I'm after is setting up an internet tv (or something similar to iptv) website where the media is stream live.
