I have installed one FMS on my dedicated server. And the OS is Linux Red Hat Enterprise 4. I installed it by the default manual. It indicates that I have to enter ./installFMS and answer following question. The install process didn't show any error messages. But when I test the FMS server. I found it is unable to load any applications. Only the port 1111 returns response, but the port 1935 is out of response. And the process in my dedicated server only loads "fmsadmin". I don't know if there's anything wrong in my setup process. Could any one help me to figure out these questions? Thanks for your kindly help...
Hi All, I've just installed Flash Media Server. Due to firewall issues I have set-up FMS to listen on port 119, rather than the default port 1935. I did this by stopping the two FMS services, editing the fms.ini file, and then restarting the FMS services. However I cannot see how to reconfigure the sample and tutorial pages to use the new port number. There's no .ini file or xml settings file in the sample/tutorial directories that I can see. I've tried the same thing on an additional dev machine on our corporate network. The samples work fine on port 1935, but the clients fail to connect when I move the FMS to port 119. How are the samples and tutorials provided with FMS told what port the server is listening on? What should I change so that they use the new port? Thanks, Tim.
Dear friends, I need real help on this problem: In some audio/video conferencing application we have developed based on FMS. There is ascending delay in the audio being heared. Please note If person who is talking stops publishing and re-publishs then again it starts with very short delay which starts increasing again. What can we do? Thank you.
Do I need to uninstall FCS 1.5 before upgrading to FMS 2.0? I'm backing up all the files from FCS 1.5.
I'm reading Adobe docs and there is no world life configuration examples. This is annoying as they say what is possible but don't say how to do that. My problem is that I have 1 FMS configured as local (origin according to docs) and second one remote (egde). They don't see each other and I can't find anything like origin IP address entry in any config files so edge will know who to talk to. Maybe they have to be in the same network and will detect each other? Nothing is clear in documentation.
Hi Guys, WE have a licence limit for bandwidth 10Mbs. How can i check current I/O bps? i can see this information from Macromedia Flash Communication Server administration console, but i need check it progrqammatically. Is it possible? thanks! Kirill
Hi -- I am recording an audio stream from the microphone and wanted to know if there is a way to show the sound levels of the audio from the mic in a graphical display?
I need to take a live stream from a camera attached to server A, and mirror it to server B, so that local users on server B can view it. I don't want it saved to server B, I want it to remain live. I'm using a push model - server A sets this up. I think that if I create a netconnection on server B looking back at server A I can use it to add a netstream attached directly to server A's camera. Is this correct? I am as yet a very inexperienced Flash developer, and my efforts are impacted by the fact that I am now modifying someone else's code using someone else's design patterns. Thanks.
I need to copy recorded streams from server to server. I planned on using the File.CopyTo function, but I have two questions. First, the PDF documentation of the server side actionscript states that "If ... the destination file doesn’t exist, the operation fails..." (pg 70.) Do I first need to create the destination file by opening it in "create" mode before using the CopyTo function? Second, I am assuming that I should be able to use the file naming convention "//server/app/dir/filename" for the destination file to copy the file from server A to server B using the mapped locations. But something's nagging at me telling me this won't work. In the documentation the naming instructions kind of imply that file copies only work within a single server. The example doesn't show either an app name or server. I want to do this: Code running on source server. var fileToCopy = new File("/dir/filename"); fileToCopy .CopyTo("//destserver/app/dir/filename") If that's no good, can I copy the f
Dear media server gurus We need to create a video player with cuepoints and streaming capabilities. We'd like to be able to jump to different chapters within one flv file without having to preload the entire video file. l know that we do need to use a media server service. - Any recommendations for decent services out there? - How much work is required on the server for this project? Do we need to hire a media server programmer ? or is it as simple as uploading the flv file to the server and then using the netStream class in the front end? Is there any programming required in the backend for this at all? I'm guess we'll need to use the seek function in the front end... Any insight, thoughts or suggestions much appreciated. Thank you Best Stephan
Hello; I have a tiered system with an acquisition cluster, distribution cluster, and then finally an edge system. I am doing a live stream from an On2 Flix live encoder the streams is supposed to be 24x7. My client sees choppy behavior in the video on their site after long periods of playback our work around has been to just change the stream name. This seems to clear up the choppy behavior. I see the problems all the way back at the acquisition server level almost like it is coming from the client. I call the client and he explains he is not seeing it on the actual Flix encoder. I am running 2.0.4r79 on the acquisition cluster and see very little traffic on the box maybe 10 Mbps tops memory and CPU utilization less then 15%. I am going to run a test tonight using the On2 Flix locally from a known good network feed for additional testing. If anyone else has some input I would be glad to hear it. The best we have done so far is about 20 hours and that was with us pulling the stream f
I'm currently developing an application but am running into some troubles. I hope you guys can help me. What I'd like to do is a webcam game, that's how it should work: - a master movie is placed on the server - the first person opening the swf can see the master movie, then he's asked to reproduce what he saw with his webcam - the second person comes and sees the last recorded movie and then again has to reproduce what he saw, when he finishes he will se the master movie, to compare. - and so on now recording and playing all works fine, more or less, but how can I find out how many movies are there already? I thought about saving an xml with php on a simple webserver, but there has to be an easier way, a solution I can solve with FMS to read out the data in the folder. Thanks in advance.
We are having a rather silly problem, I know its probably very easy to resolve but still it is giving us a headache. We have an FMS that takes live feeds from webcams and plays them back through a webpage using the following code: nc = new NetConnection(); nc.onStatus = function(info) { trace('I:'+info.code); if (info.code == 'NetConnection.Connect.Success') { ns = new NetStream(nc); video.attachVideo(ns); ns.play('channel12'); } }; nc.connect('rtmp://FMSIP/shopVideo/_definst_'); We would now need to push this feed over to another FMS by publishing the feed on an RTMP address. We were under the impression that the following should work: rtmp://FMSIP/shopVideo/_definst_/channel12 but is does not work, even if we try it from our own FMS. Checked firewall and stuff that does not seem to be a problem. Are we missing something painfully basic? Please advise any help is greatly appreciated.
I have the following problem. I'd like to feed FMS with flv files stored on cluster of HTTP servers. What I would like is to pass URL to FMS and ask it to fetch the file and stream it (doing it while download progress would be great). Is it possible at all? Or maybe should I feed FMS the other way? I just want to use existing storage of FLV files and not move them to FMS. And once again: streaming video during http download would be just awesome. Thanks.
We have been using Windows Media Services to multicast to our 1500 user campus with great success. We've been asked to move to the web and make our material available via streaming to a much wider audience. Flash streaming seems to have everything we need but we honestly have no idea how to get started. Is there (SOMEwhere) a simple Step-by-Step "Getting Started" document that will walk us through our first video stream. We do both live and archived streams currently (multicast) so I'm happy with using a live feed or archived files. I just need some simple instructions. My Windows Media experience doesn't seem to help at all. Thanks.
I am trying to synchronize a live stream (which is broadcasted from the flash player plugin) with some scripted actions. The problem is, that the displayed frames of the rtmp stream do not correlate to the netStream.time property on the receiver side. In fact, i do not understand at all, how the property is rendered on the receiver, since i can not recognize any dependencies to e.g. bufferLength. Does anybody now, how it is calculated? I tried with Red5 and Wowza and they seem to behave similar. I guess, FMS would not make any difference (if so: lease let me know!), since i assume that the property is rendered during the encoding process i.e. by the plugin.
hello, everyone,i wanna fms play a recorded flv file again and again, but i don't know how to do it. i try directly use "Stream.play",failed. then i try PLAY again after i got the "NetStream.Play.Stop" status info code when the 1st time playing over.then its really can loop play now, however, the Stream object didn't clear up,since one new PLAY function called, new Stream created, and the old Stream object kept.over and over, they took lots of memory. i just wanna FMS can loop play a single FLV file.... can anyone help me? thx very much.
I get multiple rows with the following error message in the FMS log: Thu 08:56:04 PM: Server detected a backward timestamp from 3281064 to 3281063 in file: D:\mypath\_definst_\myappname I also experience FMS disconnects quite often on the client side. Connect is just closed by the server. Does anyone have any idea what the error message means? Also, what is the recommended way to diagnose dropped connection problem on the FMS side? Thanks, Mark

Hi guys, i am having a bit of bother with FMS 2 on the new server. Everything i am working on works fine on the developer server. I am unable to connect to fms admin panel via my desktop or via the web browser. It is the same for all my apps. Connection failed. I am able to login into fms admin panel via remote desktop connection but as soon as i click on manage servers i get an error saying that some script in the movie is causing the player to run slowly. I have ran the port tester from the server browser and all green lights. Any ideas? anything else i can check or test? thanks Paul
Hi, This has been a frustrating week, so i REALLY appreciate any help in advance We have installed FMS 2.0.4 on linux (tried both ubunto and fedora 6 but the problem is consistent in both) the server runs perfectly and accept connections but it fails to record the flv file on the filesystem. I digged the logs and this is what i found: ==> core.00.log <== 2007-03-27 17:57:11 6890 (e)2601163 Failed to record /opt/macromedia/fms/applications/babulous/streams/0/0/0/0/0/1/4/5/145, no space left on device - I don't think no space left on device is a accurate message: this is how my file system looks like: Filesystem 1K-blocks Used Available Use% Mounted on - 99525364 6334424 88135288 7% / root@server1:/home/babulous# df Filesystem 1K-blocks Used Available Use% Mounted on varrun 997728 188 997540 1% /var/run varlock 997728 4 997724 1% /var/lock udev 997728 84 997644 1% /dev devshm 997728 0 997728 0% /dev/shm lrm 997728 21540 976188 3% /lib/modules/2.6.15-28-amd64-generic/volatile /dev/
We're having problems trying to use Flash Media Encoder in conjunction with an Opsrey 230 card. The device shows up in the Encoding Options panel but when we try to change any settings we get the following error "Problem with video capture device. Please verify that it is working correctly and is not already in use" The card works fine with Windows Media Encoder. Viewcast support suggested trying it again with SimulStream enabled, but still no joy. Can anyone help? System - Windows XP Pro 2002 SP 2 Thanks Phil
We've just installed a digital rapids 500. FME is still complaining about the card.
Hi, I've just downloaded the developer version of Flash Media Server for testing but am having problems even setting up a stream. I'm totally new to Flash streaming! When I log in to the server using the Management Control Panel under 'View Applications' I get a greyed out screen saying 'Please load an application' and clicking the 'New instance' button doesn't do anything. I have the _defaultVhost_ underneath Server 1 but can't add any applications to it. Does anybody know where I am going wrong? Thanks An embarressed Server Virgin Matt
