So, I've been playing with the new Flash Media Encoder here: http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/fme/ It was a really simple download and works seamlessly with Flash Media Sever. I think you have to update FMS2 to the January 07 update to use it, though. Anyway, below are some options for trying it out. Have fun :) Per Chris H from adobe: 1. You don't need a main.asc file on your FMS app to publish and broadcast live streams with FME. 2. You can get a live stream from FME to playback in the normal FLVPlayback component that ships with Flash 8 Professional. Just make sure you have the "isLive" parameter set to true and the contentPath should be: rtmp://server_name/app_name/inst_name/stream_name. Option from FMS livedocs: 1 New Flash Document with two layers: actions and video display. 2 Add this code from the FMS livedocs to the actions layer: var my_nc:NetConnection = new NetConnection(); my_nc.connect("rtmp://<YOUR RTMP ADDRESS>/streamtest"); var my_ns:NetStream = new NetS
I need to put the shared object data (that contains the client names) into an ordered array. The following is NOT useful: for (var i in _chatSO.data) { if (_chatSO.data != null) { var clientObj = _chatSO.data; users.push(clientObj.username); } } That doesn't solve my problem because each client will end up with an array of different order, e.g., [client1, client2, client3] and [client2, client1, client3] etc. Context: Multiplayer game where I make 2 teams and assign a number and colour (color) to each player. Each client (player) that joins needs to create movie clips representing the previously joined players, each labeled with a number. Unless they have access to the same array, it can't be done. Thank you, Norm (new to FMS)
hi, im trying to use the sample_broadcast example, but i cant enable the Q&A section.. Can anyone help me, perhaps tell me why its not working..Thats the only part of the example that doesnt work..
Hi, everyone. I am a newbie at both Linux and Flash Media Server. I have set up a development version on my linux box and am attempting to establish a connection through a local network. I am testing with a simple connection script: client_nc = new NetConnection(); client_nc.connect("rtmp://192.168.15.200/candace/room_1"); client_nc.onStatus = function(info) { error.text = "Level: " + info.level + " Code: " + info.code; // this is returning any errors } Now, on the client site, the error box returns "Error: NetConnection.Connect.Failed" On the FMS console on the server there is no sign of a connected client In the Apache error log on the server, I get the error "Invalid method in request" I have the firewall turned off. When I run the script locally on the server with URI "rtmp:/localhost/candace/room_1" I do not get the error. My guess is that Apache doesn't like the rtmp protocol for some reason and won't allow my client to talk to the FMS server. Thoughts? Thanks!!
hi ive been working on a movie in imovie then exporting to flash that is only 1min long put buttons on it in flash but when i save it . it ends up being 7mb !! i can not upload this to my website its just too large. !!!! oh help i feel like i have tried everything!
I have a pre-recorded flv file that I've placed in a sub-folder within the applications folder of Media Server. When I run my Flash movie within Flash or on my localhost using IIS, the Media Server Management Console shows my flv streaming. This only seems to work, though, if I also have the flv file in the same folder or sub-folder relative to my swf and html files and the contentPath perimeter of the on-stage video component points to this flv folder/sub-folder. Question: does the flv need to be in both these locations? The documentation is not clear about this.
Hey guys, I'm completely new to flash, what i'm trying to do is to create application which makes user able to record their voice from the browser and save it somewhere to the filesystem. i also need control over the location that the file gets saved and also the name of it. can anybody help me with example or a reference or anything??? thanks a lot
I'm working on a virtual classroom videochat application for Communication Server MX. I'm about 4 days into my experience with Flash Comm and I'm not very far along. The application calls for four small live video spots for the professors who are presenting and on larger video spot for the classroom camera. I've tried doing this using Flash MX' AVPresence component linked to the simple connect component. This setup works but gives end-users horrible video quality. I've read around and found that the problem is that I am essentialy stretching the video by specifying a larger size than the default at that is the source of the distortion and pixelation. I also found many people who suggested that the solution was to build a custom video component that allows enlarging the feed. So far I can't find any sort of guide that suggests I can do this or explains how. I've got pages of documentation but I don't know enough about the stuff to sort out where to start piecing together this compo
My goal is as follows. Say I have a chat app called "mychatpp" and with in that app I have a bunch of different chat rooms such as "chatroomone" , "chatroomtwo" and so on. So I've created a combo box and filled it with all of the chat room names. I want to also add a user count in the combo box beside each chat room name. The problem is I can't figure out how to access the user count for a chat app or for each individual room within a chat app. I have been trying something like this but haven't had any luck yet. nc = new NetConnection; nc.connect("rtmp://www.myflashmediaser.com/mychatapp/"); nc.call("userCount", true); I can't figure out how to access the returned value. Also notice that my connect string just points at the app and doesn't reference an individual room, in order for it to be useful I need to get the user count for an individual room. Any help would be appreciated.
Hello, Is there a way to pre-buffer multiple video and the play them later upon request without any delay? For example. i have six video that a uder can pick to view. Is it possible i buffer them all at once in the begining and somehow store the buffer so that the user does not have to wait for the buffer each time? thank you so much for your help.
Hi, I have managed to get my webcam to record to fms but only one instance, it just replaces the file each time it records, does anyone know the way to make new instances, there is a thread on here somewhere about it but have managed to lose it! thanks for your help Gavin
I know this has been asked before but I can't find any answers at the moment. I need to create a simple app, where users will be shown a series of 8 minute videos. After all users view a video, there will be a Q&A session. Then the presenter starts the next video. My question is, can I ensure all connected users are synced in FLV playback? In other words, when the presenter presses play, all uses are done exactly 8 minutes from that point. I know I could do it if the stream was a live stream from the presenter's cam, but what about from an FLV file?
Hi, I am planning on creating an application that will need webcam activity recorded and then uploaded to a database, I know that flash media server will be needed, but how do I go about recording a webcam in flash and linking it with flash media server? Any help would be much appreciated thanks Gavin
I've heard of a thing where I can record a video in front of a green screen and create a flash movie to overlay on a flash website. It almost looks like the person is living and walking around on the site. Can some one please give me more info on this and the tools I need to make this. I feel like I'd need the Media Server to serve this, but I'd use Premiere to edit video, right? Thanks in advance.
I am wondering if it is possible to calculate the upload and download speed of someone connecting to Flash Media Server. If so, how can it be done? Even pseudocode would be appreciated.
Hi, If multiple users are subscribed to the same live stream, is it possible for the FMS server to force one user to unsubscribe from the stream, or otherwise prevent him from viewing, without affecting any of the other subscribers? My server needs to cut off a subscriber when his access expires, and for security reasons I can't trust the client to unsubscribe when instructed to, so the server must force an unsubscribe somehow. I can't figure out how to do this for one subscriber without unsubscribing everyone watching that stream. Any and all replies are much appreciated. Thanks in advance, Barry
Hi all, I hope some nice guru can help me with my question. When I publish a live stream to FMS2, I see not one but two entries in the console under "Streams". One has the same name as my published stream and a type "Live", while the other has a name like "ABAYIM9I" and type "NetStream". What is the difference between the two? Secondly, if I stop and restart publishing, I start accumulating streams of the second type in the Streams list (with status "Idle"). I assume they are still consuming resources so I'd like to clean them up! How do I do this? Any and all replies are much appreciated. Barry
HI, Im trying to stream video from one file to another. this is the code for one of those files: var live_cam:Camera = Camera.get(); myVideoOut.attachVideo(live_cam); var out_ns:NetStream = new NetStream(_root.ncBase); out_ns.attachAudio(live_mic); out_ns.attachVideo(live_cam); out_ns.publish("streamB", "live"); //Stream In var in_ns:NetStream = new NetStream(_root.ncBase); myVideoIn.attachVideo(in_ns); in_ns.play("streamA"); The other file just has inverted "streamA" and "streamB". In the FMS console i can see streamA and streamB but not the automatic generated Streams. i can not stream the video from one file to another one. I think that is the problem. My code is inside a movieclip, same level with the video object and i call the netConnection using _root.nc. any idea why can it be happening?
I just can not get the live stream. I have two files, one sender and 1 subscriber. I'm working localy testing FMS. I just have a video object on each stage and the actionscript: sender: var rtmpPath:String = new String(); rtmpPath = "rtmp:/test"; var ncBase:NetConnection = new NetConnection(); ncBase.connect(rtmpPath); var ns:NetStream = new NetStream(ncBase); local_sender.attachVideo(Camera.get()); ns.publish("testVideo","live"); the video object instance name is local_sender. the subscriber: var rtmpPath:String = new String(); rtmpPath = "rtmp:/test"; var ncBase:NetConnection = new NetConnection(); ncBase.connect(rtmpPath); var ns:NetStream = new NetStream(ncBase); local_re.attachVideo(ns); ns.play("testVideo"); I can see video from camera in the sender file but in the subscriber nothing. In the flash media server console i can see 3 streams. one with the name i create and the other two generic, like CBAoQD6H... how can test is the stream out is really going out an
Sorry, this is in two forums, but it made sense to get a broad sense of if this is what people are being told or if it is true. I'm working on a rather robust media delivery project, and ran into a (VERY) frustrating problem. I have been informed that content delivery networks CANNOT stream VP6 live. Additionally, flash live in general is supposedly virtually impossible without quality issues. Has anyone come across this? Akamai said they could do a broadcast live with Sorenson Codec, but is there even a program that encodes sorenson on the fly and streams to a server? Supposedly this is a flaw in Media Server 2 that is supposed to be fixed in a 2.5 release... is this correct?
hi, anyone tried the tutorial: creating a dynamic playlist for streaming flash video? i follow the instruction exactly as stated in the tutorial and test the fla file, it worked perfectly well when i open the swf using the macromedia flash 8. Everything look fine. Nothing is changed except the url is changed to "rtmp://localhost/videosource" in the xml file. after i publish the file using the setting: access network only, i try to open the swf and html file from the folder, the thumbnail did not appear and there is no way i can click on any videos. What i see is only the list, and there is no response from the flash media server 2. All the files is in the same folder. Anyone please help with this problem???? thanks
