I'm busy buidling my first flash application wich includes FMS2. I've got a mic connected wich records a few audiochannels to FMS, no problem there. Now i want to play these audiochannels at the same time a progressive movie is playing. But the audiochannels have to be synced perfectly with the mvoie. So my question is how can i regulate that after the progressive movie is fully downloaded and starts playing that at the streams play without interuptions at the specific times they need to play. Sorry from my English grammer :) And many thanks!
Apparently FMS automatically prioritizes audio over video in a webcam conversation. In my experience this doesn't really happen. In my app, possibly due to bandwidth limitations, webcam stream runs with a delay of a few seconds (starts ok, but the delay grows as the conversation continues). When the delay happens, audio is synced with the webcam stream. I can live with seeing a video delay of a few seconds (or lower quality or even totally interrupted), but I certainly don't want that to happen to the audio. Is there something that I need to do for FMS to limit the video stream in favour of keeping audio as close to "live" as possible. Right now, video lags and audio is always synced with it.
hello everybody, I just set up FMS, how can I play the flv file to test the server? where I put the files?? I follow the steps of some post in this forum, it seems doesn't work.... Thanks,
I am using FMS2 to work as a buffer inbetween my PHP Code and my Flash Client. The thing is, my client worked flawlessly when using PHP/MySQL and Flash alone, but when integrating FMS, I encountered a few problems. It seems like when using a prototype function or onDisconnect and trying to use LoadVars() and retrieve the information the PHP file outputs, FMS returns undefined. We tried using sendAndLoad but encounter the same errors. Do you get what I am saying, or do you need more explanation, if you do, could you please help/explain. Heres a better example: quote: Client.prototype.fncload = function(usernumber) { returninfo = new LoadVars(); returninfo.load(" http://serverip/getinfo.php?unum=usernumber"); returninfo.onLoad = function() { trace(returninfo); //returns undefined, undefined, undefined } } This is inside an ASC file.
Hi all. I know my problem should be easy to solve, but I can't finde a glue. Please, be patient for I'm totally new to the issue. Here's the code: broadcasting (publishing SWF) var my_cam:Camera = Camera.get(); var my_video:Video; my_video.attachVideo(my_cam); var client_nc = new NetConnection(); client_nc.virtualKey = "live"; client_nc.connect("rtmp:/record", "cam"); out_ns = new NetStream(client_nc); out_ns.attachVideo(my_cam); out_ns.publish("my_recorded_stream", "record"); client_nc.msgFromSrvr = function(msg) { trace(msg); for(i in msg){ trace(i+" "+msg ); } }; and here's the SWF intendet to accept the video: var my_video:Video; var client_nc = new NetConnection(); client_nc.connect("rtmp:/record", "user"); in_ns = new NetStream(client_nc); in_ns.attachVideo(my_video); in_ns.play("my_recorded_stream.flv"); client_nc.r_play = function(msg) { trace(msg); for(i in in_ns){ trace(i +" "+in_ns); } for(i in _root.my_video){ trace(i+" # "+_root.my_video ); } }; I can see

Hello, I have created a movie player (FLV) which simply plays my movie clips. Everything works fine and I like to add a new button to save the position that the movie has been played till. So, I can come back later and have the option to play the movie from the point it was stopped the previous time. Therefore, I need to Save my Movie Clip Positions with PHP and MySQL. So far I have created a button that saves the position of the my movie clip "ns.time" into a variable. I am currently just displaying this variable but I need to export it to my PHP file where it gets sorted for being sent to mySQL Database. Could you tell m e how this can be down or where I can find more material (tutorial) to get this done. I have tried to export it useing "getURL(url, window, method)" which points to my PHP file. But for some reason when it sends lots of information to my php and not only the Movie Clip Position. I have realised from the address line that is trying to send millions of information abo
I've just been elected as the Flash Communication Server MX 'Expert' here at work. They've installed Flash Comm and we can browse to the sample applications. When we start one of these samples on the local machine, it connects and runs fine. When we try and hit them from outside our network, we can view the applications but they will not connect. For clarifications sake, the Flash Comm MX installation came with a sample app called 'Panel Presentation' which has a chat and slide presentation that users login to, this isn't the only app we're having trouble with, just and example of what we mean by login.
Hi everybody, I´m having dificults in change the size of the video object size, because its pixelated. Its the same effect when I zoom the stage. The video object default is 160x120. I´ve set the mycam._width = 320 and so on... but pixelate.. Any help is valid Thanks
I have found that I should be able to create a folder for a client on connect. then, I'll save audio recordings to that folder during a session and delete the folder on disconnect. I need to create a unique folder name for each user. I thought of using their login email address, but that isn't an ideal format for a folder name! Alternatively, I thought of using the user's first and second name, but there's a risk that the name won't be unique. I see that the FMS2 creates a unique client ID on connect but I can't see any way of using that in actionscript. I don't see anything in the Client class to provide me with the client ID. Can anyone tell me if I can use this Client ID in my actionscript so I can use it to create a folder? Thanks in advance.
application.onConnect = function(clientObj, username){ trace("A client has connected: "+username); application.acceptConnection(clientObj); }; application.onConnectAccept = function(clientObj){ trace("Connection accepted"); } I have also tried: this.acceptConnection(clientObj); I have this script. When I connect, I get the first trace but I don't get the second trace... so onConnectAccept() is not being called? not sure how Anyone got any tips on why this function doesn't run? Flash v8 swf, server running FMS2.
we use on2 flix live to publish live stream. but it seems that all users that have information about our server can publish stream to it. sure we dont want this. how can we limit publishing only for some IPs? Does FMS have some security properties to restrict publishing?
I want the swf with the progressive flv in it to load when it´s finish another swf. Is that possible? Please help! I´m desperate!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11
Does anybody know how to remove application instances via code? I have created an app which creates seperate app instances. When i am finished with them i want to remove them but so far i can only do this via the admin console. Any way to do it in code? Cheers
hi experts, I am rather new to Flash Media Server, but quite impressed with what flash server can do. however, i have a few questions which i could not find any answer on the website: 1) Could Flash Media Server co-exists on the same server with Window Media Server? Can both run at the same time? 2) Could Microsoft cluster service support Flash Media server or Window Media server? If not, is there any other way for high avail support? Thank you guys in advance.
Hello, I have connected to Flash Communication Server and I am able to load the flv files. However when I try to use the FLVPlaybackComponet, nothing happens it just stays on the preloader. I am using "rtmp://webaddress/moviefolder" in the Content Path field of the Component Inspector. I am interested in using the controls for video playback that are included in the FLVPlaybackComponet. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
How do i determine what ports for flash media server 2 should be forwarded through my router? I can use 192.168.1.55 but when I try to use the IP address the ISP gives me it doesn't connect whats wrong?
i have application that i'm the administrator make connection and publish stream and few (the members) are also make connection to me and play stream i want sometimes to close their connection i close their stream and connection by simple code: ns.close() nc.close() the connection indeed closed but in the communication app inspector i notice that their stream still remain and changed to type idle and also the event applicatin.disconnected in the asc file didn't occured when the user by himself close the web page or go to another web page the stream disappeard from the communication app inspector and also the event applicatin.disconnected happened what is the way that i should close the member connection so the stream will disappear from the communication app inspector and not be idle and also the event applicatin.disconnected will happen
Hello everyone, I have created a voice chat with the communication components with Flash MX. I am running FMS on Windows 2003 Standard Ed Dual Pentium 4 1GB Ram on a T1 Shared line. Every once in a while the server freezes and the only way to restart is using the Reset button on the server. I know the problem is coming from FMS because I uninstalled FMS and my server was fine. I checked the CPU usage and it seems fine. I dont know how else to debug this! Can someone help me out figure out this problem. Any piece of advice or information would really help! Thanks in advance
We have a bunch of data we want to send to a flash app on Pocket PC, Windows, or Mac OS X over an encrypted channel. It's binary data and we need to keep it secure. Is the flash media server good for this ? How do we get the data into the flash media server? Can it connect to a socket? Can a standalone player still access the media server using an encrypted (SSL) channel?
Hi, I have a setup where I have 2 FMS, configured in Edge - Origin Configuration. I have all the applications on the Origin Server. I have the edge server configured to route all the requests coming to it to the Origin server and cache the media in a directory. When I play the video from a client requesting the Edge server, it is fetching the video from the origin FMS and saving the media locally in the cache directory. The problem occurs when I want to remove or update the media on the Origin server. i have a script which removes or incase of update put a new file on the origin server and also clean the cache directory for the said file. The issue is the file is accessed by large number of clients and is stored in the buffer of the media server and its still showing me the same file in the FMS console under streams that the file is chached and its size. The users can still see the same file which I have removed. Could you please suggest a solution for this problem. Thanks.
My group and I have developed a website utilizing FCS to stream flvs embedded (using the Flash Video Encoder, FP8 On2 VP6 codec) with cue points. Since its not billable, we've been developing this site on and off for the past 5 months and now that its finally live have received reports of inconsistent behavior. Most people (who have reported back) see the site as intended, however at least 3 users have reported unusually slow load times accompanied by the video pausing and not attempting another load. Each user has experienced this while at work and if they actually get the video to play it buffers unnecessarily. So, I'm assuming its a bandwidth issue. Though they have no issues with other streaming video sites (ie: youTube). Since I'm just getting familiar with video delivery over the web (this is my 2nd streaming video site) and had initial issues with FCS sending cue points correctly, I decided to use the FLVPlayback component with custom play controls. Troubleshooting I've tried
I posted this awhile back and got no response. Seeing how I am going to be doing tons of video postings, I thought I would try it one more time before calling Macromedia. There appears to be no reason for this Security Alert to be popping up. The only common thread I can see is it happens when I am trying to pull in multiple videos to a single flash page. Thanks in Advance Anyone seen this before? I have set up a video page with a dozen placeholder videos. Once I exceed the 8 videos on the page I get the Certification pop up stating: [ A secure connection with this site cannot be verified. Would you still like to proceed? The certificate you are viewing does not match the name of the site you are trying to view.] These video files are all stored on our own FlashMediaServer 2. I have about 130 videos on the server and several pages linked to them and have never seen this before.
Hello everyone, I have looked at some tutorials and realised that they have used the following actionScript to play a movie: attachMovie("FLVPlayback", "my_FLVPlybk", 10, {width:320, height:240, x:90, y:100}); I was wonuder if it is possible to replace this line of script with something which uses : theVideo.attachVideo(); If this is possible, could you tell me how the script should be for it? Thank you very much for your help and have a great day. Babak 🐵
